19 A Forced Destiny, A Sudden Development

"Finished?" Don asked once Sky had reached the front door.

Together the two walked through the streets of Hero's Stronghold. Smiling at the townspeople as they walked by and being met by the strange and indifferent faces of the half-bloods as they went about their day.

"Heh, so you're the son of Zeus huh?" Don turned to him and smiled, "Sounds pretty epic!"

"Mm, yeah..." Sky mustered the voice to say. He kept his head low as they continued walking along the gravel-laid streets, back in the direction they came from.

Don straightened his back and placed his hands, one atop another behind his head. "It might just be me but you don't sound too excited about that." He leaned his head towards Sky slightly, looking down at his friend.

"Mm… I don't really know how I feel about this... " Sky explained.

"Well, sort your feelings out quickly!" SLAM! Don slapped the back of Sky forcing him to stand straight.

"We've been given this golden opportunity to turn our lives around," Don stopped and stared at him. His red eyes glistened with determination. "Unlike the other bums on the streets of Riner, we're special and because of that we've been given this once in a lifetime chance."

"Look around you, the people here are just like us, they care about us, we don't have to run around scrounging for food or worrying about guards or our families left behind in the shoddy makeshift huts that we call homes." He continued. "We've been given a new destiny Sky."

The last phrase made Sky uncomfortable. I didn't ask for this destiny, nor did I want it! He thought to himself.

Don took a few steps forwards until he was an arms length away from Sky. "And unlike any of the other 'special' people here, you're the most 'special', being the only child of Zeus to be alive." He poked at Sky's chest.

"BUT I DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS!! I DIDN'T ASK TO BE SPECIAL!" Sky exploded, pushing Don backwards. "All I wanted to do was live my life normally and protect my mother, I never asked to be chased around the woods, be trained or be the son of Zeus!"

"I didn't ask for this destiny!" He finished the last phrase with a roar. Afterwards there was a long silence as the townspeople who had borne witness slowly resumed their activities, nearby half-bloods watched warily, making sure nothing escalated too far.

After Don had finally regained his footing he stood up tall again and approached Sky. "Well that's too bad, destiny isn't something you get to decide, it's something given to you." He whispered into Sky's ears. "And I propose you just accept it and do your part!"

He pushed past Sky and continued walking forwards. "You'll be staying in the Den tonight!" He yelled back as he disappeared down the street and into the crowd of people.

Sky turned around to see no trace of him. He stood there and looked at the hill to his left, the location of the den.

"Destiny..." He murmured before remembering something.

("One more thing Sky, make sure you tell 'it' that it's time you learned about the prophecy.")

Sky remembered the words of the lady in the forest. He wondered what 'it' referred to before realizing he knew too little about this side of the world. He turned to look at the giant town hall, there was a shadow moving inside. He decided it would be best to ask Kronos about this and made his way there. Once inside he could hear two familiar voices. One belonged to Kronos, while the other to Leeds, but they were speaking too quietly for him to hear.

Slowly and quietly he made his way up the stairs until he could hear what they were talking about.

"We received a message from Bahrny." Leeds said.

"That moron boy really is coming in handy isn't he?" Kronos replied.

"His name is Maron!" Leeds fired back.

"So, what did he say?" Kronos asked.

"When they attacked the throne room earlier all the giants were present." Leeds said.

"And?" Kronos turned around and leaned against his desk. "That shouldn't be too unusual."

"We confirmed multiple times that only Porphyrion and Clytius were supposed to be in the throne room that day." Leeds explained.

There was a brief silence as Kronos rubbed his chin. "So you're saying we were set up?" Kronos raised an eyebrow.

"No… none of the half-bloods would betray us… at least none of the ones that were here before today." He glared at Kronos.

"They were warned." Leeds said, "and there's only one person who could do that."

"Prometheus has been missing for decades, even centuries now, no one knows where he is." Kronos shifted, "But it's not completely unlikely, he does like to stir up trouble from time to time."

"Is that all?" Kronos asked.

"One more thing." Leeds said as he walked closer to Kronos.

They began talking in even quieter voices than before, slowly Sky crept up the stairs, trying to get closer.

"What do you mean Cronell died?!" Kronos exploded.
