1 Chapter 1 : Krypton

"Jor-El, for the last time, the council has deemed your assertion concerning the planet to be ridiculous and baseless!"

The man Jor-El looks up at the council eyeing the man in the middle. The man was his past friend. He used to be a man full of curiosity and wonder, but now reduced to greed and selfishness ever since joining the group of elites.

"Lor-Em, I beg of you to look at these records and statistics, Krypton as we know it will meet its doom. You must heed my warnings and start evacuating the people of Krypton away…"

Bang

Lor-Em hits his fist on his armrest and looks furiously at Lor-Em.

"For the last time Jor-El, the council will not look at your delusional hypothesis of the so-called doomsday of our beloved planet. One more word and I will have you taken into custody with that deranged general Zod and his fanatics!"

These people have once again dismissed his evidence of the impending doom of Krypton and Jor-El could not help feel a sense of defeat and dread.

Krypton, the planet has been on life support ever since the council has chosen to close down on outer space exploration and instead chooses to exploit their own planet's resources without any care believing in it's endless power supply. Little did they know, Krypton had little than a few months left to live. In this meeting, Jor-El was hoping to get Kyrptonians to evacuate the planet and seek shelter on other solar systems. But once again, the greed and corruption of the council has destroyed those plans.

Jor-El, a man resembling a man that lost all hope in saving his home looks up at the council of science one last time.

"I have one final request, I need final access to the codex of life and wish to study it one last time. This is my final request as a member of the council of science under krypton."

Lor-Em looks around to this fellow council-men and woman and discusses it amongst them. A final request basically means a person was willing to give up a seat on the council for a request of importance. The people on the council couldn't help but feel excited since Jor-El has been a throne in their side ever since his election many years ago. They have had tremendous problems in implementing restrictor control around Kryptonian society due to his interference. Now, they can finally be rid of him and have full control of the planet.

With a general consensus of nods. Lor-Em looks back at Jor-El and nods.

"We approve, this is the final request and after this would mean giving up your seat on the council... do you agree?"

Jor-El looks upon the faces of greed that dominates this once noble council one last time.

"I do"

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A month or so passes, signs of the planet dying is really starting to show. People of Krypton has begun to worry about the dangers that Jor-El spoke of people. But the science council had cracked down on any resistance from the people and made sure to not let any ship or vessel escape the air space.

After the finishing his work, Jor-El is back at his home.

"How did it go? Do the council believe you now about the approaching danger?" Lara Lor-Van asks her husband.

Jor-El could only shake his head while picking up his newborn son. Despite being just born a month ago, their son Kal-El is the cutest and most important thing in his life right now. He couldn't help but smile as Kal-El tried to hold on to his nose as he was picking him up.

"The council has once again chosen to dismiss my warnings about our dying planet. They are really gone Lara, they are not the same people we once knew."

Both Jor-El and Lara are prominent scientists that have had extensive projects and past accomplishments with the science council in the past. Their contributions to Krypton has made their family name come to new heights. But times have changed since the rebellion by general Zod and his fanatics. Due to their good relations to Zod, the people of Krypton had grown despising their family name and would throw looks of displeasure whenever they were in public. But nevertheless, both parents could care little when they both look at their bundle of joy.

For the first time in many years, Kryptonians had finally given birth naturally. This was not a thing in Kryptonian society since the forced evolution many centuries ago. Krypton in their pursuit of perfection has chosen the route of artificially birth and selectively chosen population control. The codex of growth determines the role of a newly born Kryptonian and those who control it determines how Kyptonian society was run. That was how Zod became who he was, chosen by birth to become a strong warrior. But now that changes, for Jor-El holds the key to a better future.

Jor-El looks at his child one last time before putting him back into the shuttle. The small ship is meant to be part of a larger one outside of their planet which will send little Kal-El into space and away from their dying planet.

He takes out the empty codex of birth before turning to his wife.

"With this, little Kal-El will gain knowledge and understanding of Kryptonian physiology, science, military, and many other locked knowledge unknown to those before him. In other words, he will be the strongest Kryptonian to ever have or will ever exist."

Lara couldn't help but sniffle out a few tears holding her husband while looking at their child one last time. She takes out a small ring, this was her family's prized possession. It had a symbol of Rao, the god of Krypton. The ring was a symbol of a past Kryptonian royalty and was passed down generations after generations. It was actually lost over time but recently it resurfaced a year ago. Was it coincidence? Lara couldn't help but chuckle.

"While it may not be as important as the codex, my little Kal-El still deserves a small present from his mother."

She places the ring on besides the sleeping Kal-El sides. She leans down and kisses him one last time.

"Be strong Kal, I know you will do great things in that world. You will surely bring honor to our House of El."

Jor-El snorts before laughing a little depressingly.

"Probably the last house to ever exist."

Lara shakes her head before looking at the closing shuttle as their child is being sent away into space. She couldn't help but feel a tinge of guilt and sadness, their son is going to be the sole survivor of their species. What if the humans on the planet Earth will hurt their little baby?

"I know that look, Lara, Kal-El will be fine. In fact, the rays from their sun will make him a god. On top of that, nothing can really hurt our Kal-El anymore due to that codex being infused with his DNA anyway. It will teach everything so stop worrying okay?"

Lara nods one last time and hugs her husband. The noises outside were growing louder. Screams outside were muffled before when their son was sleeping but now, the rumbling of the planet is being felt. They didn't have much time, both parents knew that their child would go on to do great things. It was unfortunate that they couldn't be the ones to raise him and care for him. As a mother, she couldn't help but feel sadness and guilt for this. But she couldn't just leave her husband to die alone.

'Be well Kal-El, my beloved son and prince. Our people will raise once more from the ashes with you leading them.'

Jor-El and Lara hold each other one last time closing their eyes.
