6 Chapter 5 Training

About a week and half later, early morning deep in the woods, I was out with my dad training.

Starrk " Close your eyes and take a deep breath in son. I'm sure you have already noticed it now but your senses have become highly enhanced and sensitive."

As I take a deep breath in, I started to feel everything around me. The scent of the grass, trees, leaves, small to large animals. The subtle sound of leaves falling and being stepped on. The chirps of birds and the sounds of animals awakening.

Starrk " Now, you will need to learn how to differentiate the different smells and sounds. After that, you will need to learn how to feel the emotions of the living animals."

As I slowly breathe in and out and focus on all of my senses except for my sight, I started to focus on the chirps of the birds and the squeaking sounds from the small animals. Suddenly, I heard a fast sound of rustling leaves and knew that it was my dad moving around at a rapid pace towards a deer. From there, I heard a crack and soon after a scream filled with pain. Not knowing why this was happening, I sped towards the location to find my father with his foot on the deer's neck.

" Dad? What are you doing?"

Starrk " When dealing with several things, it is important to distinguish several emotions from each other so you can deal with a situation that may have gotten out of hand and don't know how to handle it. Come here, put your hand on the deer, feel the pain and terror that the deer is feeling."

I walked up to the deer and put my hand on it, as soon as I did, I felt a sudden rush come into me as I felt the pain that the deer was going into. It felt pain on the leg that was broken and extreme fear for its life. This feeling was something new yet also familiar. Moments past by and then tears began to run down my eyes as I finally knew where I 'felt' such emotions from. It was the last few moments of my friend who died.

Starrk " Good son. By learning this, you will be able to understand lingering scents and emotions from the people around you. Furthermore, depending on the emotions that your opponent give off, you can read the mood and actions of your opponent. However, you must also learn how to control your emotions and even hide the subtle scents that you give off in certain situations. Also, if you give off the wrong kind of emotions then it could lead to your opponent reading your mood and actions and catch you off guard."

I nodded my head as I understood what my father was saying. My father took his foot off of the deer's neck and said, " End it with your hands."

My hand slowly crept to its neck as I hesitated for a bit. Even though I tried to take Jackson's life without hesitation, that was when I was feeling a little bit drunk on power, now I am starting to fully assimilate into my senses with complete control.

Starrk " Don't hesitate son. This is what it means to have power over creatures. If we cause harm and torture to the victim, we are no more than plain barbaric animals. Although you can say we are part animals, we are also originally human. If we take a life, then we do it swiftly and merciful."

" I understand father." No longer hesitating, I grabbed it's neck firmly and squeezed with all of my might. Killing the deer before it could make a sound. Only the stench of death hit my senses when I killed it.

My father smiled after watching me and said, " Good that's enough training for now. Reflect on what you have learned and grow stronger. This weekend, I will teach you how to really control your power."

We then sped off home with the deer in toll. Next, I quickly got dressed and went to school.

For the past week, at school I noticed that Erica, Boyle, and Isaac avoided me the whole time. I smiled as I saw that. Seems like a clear hierarchy has already been set and they understood that I am stronger than them and a lot stronger too. The three werewolves felt it even more as they saw me easily take on Derek and the Kanima Jackson whom they struggled against. Ignoring them, I sensed some anxiety and confusion from a girl that I have noticed since the first day I got here. Lydia. For several reasons unknown, I saw that she has been occasionally spacing out.

She was called to the counseling guidance in which I followed behind her listening in on the conversation the two had. Listening through everything, I felt something was off. From what Scott and the others and even from the teachers, I knew that she was a really smart person and yet, she seems to be avoiding something.

As I tried to talk to her, I heard a commotion going on near the men's locker room and quickly went to check out the location. As I went to the location, I saw Scott and Jackson fighting in the locker room nearly breaking everything in site. I saw Alison in the corner almost frightened and trying to stop Scott. Well... I did warn him about Jackson. If he doesn't know how to stop Jackson then trouble will just keep coming and he might not have the power to stop it.

Not wanting to get into trouble from just being there, I quickly went back to find Lydia but found that she was gone. But I knew that I had plenty of time to talk to her as it was the start of spring break. I heard that Lydia's birthday and heard her party's are always one of the best parties in town. But, I haven't gotten a formal invite to the party or heard about anyone talking about going so I thought that this year might've been different because of what's been going on lately.

Two days passed quickly and it was a full moon. Today was the day my dad was going to teach me more about the werewolf form and how much are we special compared to the regular werewolves and was excited for it. I had also gotten a better and using my senses.

Late into the night I was deep in the woods with my dad, carrying a large backpack.

" Dad, aren't we going to be in our werewolf form? Are you sure we should be outside like this? Even though we are deep in the forest, we are still outside where public eyes can stumble on us."

Starrk " Yes that's true, but we are going to need a lot more room."

He led me into a small open area where the moonlight hit directly. He took a deep breath in and slowly exhaled. Once he took his second breath in and out he body started to rapidly twitch as he grew larger and muscular ripping his clothes apart. Bright silver white hair began to cover his body as he grew more monstrous. Eventually reaching almost 7ft tall. With bright red eyes he looked at me with an intimidating force that caused me to almost kneel from the mere site of him.

I then heard a voice in my head, " Since you are a beta, your size won't be as big as me, but with this form, all of your powers will be tripled making you virtually unstoppable."

Looking at the form in awe my body started to shake in excitement. I quickly also went into the spotlight and started to breathe in deeply. However, I didn't really know how to do it like he did. I managed to transform but it was complete. It was the form that I used to fight Derek and how they looked when they transformed.

Starrk " Relax son. Look deep within yourself. You are a werewolf. Superior to both wolves and humans. You must have the pride of being the superior being."

Thinking about what my father had said I started to ask myself, "superior being?" "Pride?" I was confident in my strength against any super natural creature but I don't know if I should call it pride. I have only been a werewolf for a few months.

Starrk " Hmm... it seems like you may need more time to transform into this state. But time, we have a lot of. Come at me son, let me see how you fight."

Although I can't transform into that form at the moment, I haven't been able to go all out yet and don't know the limits of my power. I roared as I transform into the normal werewolf form and ran towards my father attacking him.
