40 Deadly Acid

[Jolt Blade]

Covering both his chakrams in lightning mana, Wyatt charged forward to engage the chimera. Due to the massive size of the lizard-bear hybrid in front of him, Wyatt wasn't sure how he would land a proper attack on its back.

After thinking through his options quickly, he decided to first check the power behind the chimeras claw attack.

The chimera beast was delighted to see Wyatt heading straight for it. Although its facial expression didn't change, Wyatt could feel a certain level of smugness exuding from the monster.

Clearly, the beast thought that the small human charging at it stood zero chance against its sharp claws close in. As Wyatt got closer to the chimera, the beast opened its massive jaw in a grin while lifting one of its fronts claws high in the air before swinging it down toward Wyatt.

Wyatt decided not to throw any of his Chakrams away during this attack and instead, he raised both chakrams to counter the large claw approaching.

CLASH

The sound of a blade and claw connecting rang across the field as Wyatt managed to succeed in holding the beast back. Admittingly, although he managed to block the attack Wyatt could already feel his legs buckling underneath him.

Originally, he thought that due to the lizards shorter limbs, it wouldn't be able to create enough force to really hurt him, but he was greatly mistaken.

After pushing the beast's claw back into the air, Wyatt ducked underneath it running towards the monster's side. Now that he knew what kind of strength it had, Wyatt no longer had any interest in clashing against it head on.

"Done playing around?"

As Wyatt was getting ready to attempt his next attack, he suddenly heard Bellamy call out from behind the beast.

"What do you mean?" Wyatt replied in confusion

"Hurry up and use your wind hop to get on its back, I'll keep it stunned for a couple of seconds while you attack" Bellamy shouted while lifting his bone staff into the air.

A bright yellow current started surrounding the staff as Bel took aim toward the beast. Wyatt was slightly confused about Bel's actions since he didn't know all his skills, but still, he chose to follow through with his advice instantly launching into the sky above the chimera.

Following Wyatts movements, the beast looked into the sky getting ready to open its mouth in retaliation. But before he could properly attack another shout was heard

"DAZE"

Swinging his staff forward, Bel's yellow current launched forward hitting directly into the back of the beast's head. The impact of the attack didn't seem to do any damage, so for a couple of seconds while approaching from above Wyatt thought Bellamy had failed.

Luckily, his assumption was proved wrong as he noticed the beast's eyes completely lose focus before standing still looking like a statue. Noticing this change Wyatt gained a new confidence in his attack while immediately landing on the monster's fur back.

Without any further delay, he began slicing repeatedly into the beast. With every swipe of his blades, Wyatt could see the fur turning from its natural brown hue into a dark red due to the seeping blood.

"2 seconds left!"

Bellamy called out again breaking Wyatt's concentration. After hearing the shout, Wyatt decided to stop slashing and attempt one final experiment before disengaging

ACIDIC TOUCH!

Putting his weapons away, Wyatt focused his mana on producing his new Acidic skill in order to test its damage. As the weird greenish-brown goo seeped through his fingers and onto the beast's back, Wyatt could see it start sizzling while slowly engraving itself into the chimera already sliced back.

Not wasting any more time, Wyatt immediately disengaged back to the side of the beast waiting to see the after-effects of his attacks.

AAUUGHH

Both Wyatt and Bel had to instantly cover their ears as they heard the pained shriek from the no longer dazed chimera. The cry was so loud that Wyatt who happened to be closer to the beast felt like his eardrums would burst.

SHRIIIIEEEEEK

The beast continued to wail out in agony before rolling on its back as if it were caught on fire. At this point, Wyatt decided to reconvene at Bel's side while waiting for things to end.

Only a minute later the duo watched as the chimera's body fully collapsed onto the ground motionless.

"huh?... that's it?" Bellamy asked in confusion

Even Wyatt, who did the attacking was shocked that the beast died so easily. Despite his confusion, he decided to quickly go check the situation up close.

Walking over to the chimera's corpse Wyatt flipped it over onto its stomach so he could examine the wounded back. The second they could see the back injury, Wyatt could hear Bellamy beside him sounding like he was going to throw up

"Belch... Holy crap what did you do to it?" exclaimed Bel while calming his stomach.

The fur on the chimera's back had been almost completely melted off and dark gooey brown marks could be seen sizzling all over while melting into the corpse. Wyatt had wanted to just test his new skill a little and hadn't expected there to be such a freakish reaction.

"It's the new skill I got from the trial"

Wyatt informed Bel about the acid skill he had received and that it was his first real time using it in battle, so he hadn't expected it to be so effective.

"Sigh... maybe I should've taken the trial" Bel muttered to himself while staring at the sizzling acid.

After making sure the beast was dead it was time for the duo to collect their rewards. Sadly, besides some raw materials, the only equipment they received was a small silver earring that boosted mana recovery.

Wyatt decided that Bel should take it since his current mana pool was still enough for his battles. After collecting and splitting the loot Wyatt called out ready to continue their journey.

"Wanna continue?" He asked Bellamy while putting his loot away.

Bel stood up before walking back to the entrance they initially came through "Not yet! let me do something first"

Not long after his hand was glowing again as he marked the entrance of the lab.

"What's that for?" asked Wyatt in confusion.

"Nothing much, It will help me know if your little stalkers track us down" Bel shrugged

Wyatt shook his head in confusion before commenting "You sure have some weird skills for a healer!"

Bellamy stopped and looked over at Wyatt before stating

"Technically I'm not a healer. I'm a Battle Support!"
