In the Deep Darkness [1]

"I can't believe there are still murders. Do you think the killer is a ghost?" Detective Jack stammered as he drove to a gas station to refuel the car.

Tony shouted angrily due to the confusion that had been building up, "What the hell are you saying?"

"I'm just saying what I think. The Shaman I visited mentioned that an infinite darkness is surrounding this city, and many will die before everything is pacified." Jack was a devout believer in the Shaman he visited every weekend.

"Get gas; I need to use the bathroom." Tony got out of the car and walked straight to the store's bathrooms, which were on the side of the gas station.

Jack got out of the car, walked to the machine, and placed the hose in the car's gas tank. "I'm sure it's a ghost, a demon."

"Who's there?" Jack looked around; it was late at night, so he didn't know who could be out at this late hour. But his gaze soon fell on a teenage girl in a high school uniform. Jack approached cautiously, confused as it wasn't the time for students to be out.

"Hey, girl, are you okay?" Jack walked over carefully; he could see blood all over the girl's uniform, so he immediately approached to check if she was okay. "I'm a cop; I can help you."

The girl kept her gaze down, ignoring the detective's instructions. She just murmured, "I need to find him."

"Find who?" Jack looked around in fear that there might be someone dangerous, but at that moment, he felt a hand on his chest.

When Jack looked down, he could see eyes as white as those of the dead. When he tried to step back, the girl grabbed him by the neck, lifting him effortlessly. "You're the last one; I need to find him after this."

Crack!

After breaking the detective's neck, the girl opened her mouth, and a red liquid entered all of Jack's orifices, possessing his body in an instant.

"A larger body is what I needed. Now I have to go after them."

"Jack, what happened?" At that moment, Tony looked at the girl on the ground and at Jack, who was staring into the distance.

"I need to find them." Jack walked toward the driver's seat of his car and, without looking at Tony, accelerated away, leaving behind a curtain of smoke.

"Damn!" Tony didn't understand what was happening, but now all he could think of was chasing Jack. Perhaps he knows better than anyone what is happening.

"It's too late; I don't think anything will happen." A man with tactical gear, who was at the exit, looked around while smoking a cigarette.

"You're very optimistic. If something happens, we'd be the first to die," said his companion, who held a shotgun tightly while scanning the surroundings.

"Nothing will happen; don't worry."

What was happening now was very new, and no one was familiar with containing a dark entity in an Association of Light base, but this method had been done a few times. However, as few things like this had happened in this country, no one was alarmed, and they believed the exaggerations made by the Guardian Bishop were extreme.

"How's your wife?"

"She's better, although I think she's cheating on me."

"I have a sister I can introduce you to; even though she has a child, she is a very different woman from your wife."

The two men laughed, but at that moment, a speeding car was parked in front of the closed gate. On the ground were spikes to prevent any cars from entering.

"The library is closed; access is not allowed."

The demeanor of the people at the entrance of the base changed. Each one separated from the other and aimed their weapons at the person walking towards them.

"Wait, what are you doing? I'm a detective; lower your weapons." Jack raised his badge, causing an internal struggle among the guards at the entrance.

"[Target compromised; eliminate him immediately!]"

One of the guards shouted, "Retreat or we'll shoot."

"What did you say?" Jack smiled slightly, causing one guard to shoot.

Bang!

The bullet penetrated Jack's leg, stopping him, but at that moment, he raised his head, moving his hands as if an invisible force controlled them. Both security guards exploded into a mist of blood.

"The base is under attack; all personnel are authorized to use lethal force. The target is dangerous; we have two casualties at the base entrance!"
