94 Convincing an Outsider

A few hours later, Jane Brewster rushed home because her son had urgently called her, and upon seeing the perimeter being set up around her community, she knew that something serious had happened.

"Oh my God, Charley, have you seen what's happening? We need to get out of here quickly; go get your things." Jane urged her son to leave this place before knowing what was going on.

But the moment she entered the living room, she saw her son sitting with a rather young guy and asked, "Who's the visitor?"

"He is..." Charley didn't know how to introduce Anton; he didn't exactly know who he was and how his mere communication had mobilized so many things.

"My name is Anton ShadowBane. I am here because your son is involved in a very delicate case, putting his life, yours, and your girlfriend's at risk." Anton had a special identification for this, so he handed it to the woman.

Jane looked at Anton's identification, then at her son, and asked, "What did you do?"

"Nothing."

"Nothing?"

Anton, who saw Amy entering through the door, immediately said, "Please, let me explain everything in detail, so you can sit down."

The calmness that Anton exuded from his words made him seem very mature for his age. Everyone felt that although he seemed to be a man of few words, he was very expressive with his gaze.

Amy walked over to where Charley was and asked, "What's going on? You told me there were problems, but I don't know what kind."

"Someone wants to kill us," Charley murmured, making Amy's expression turn pale. She looked at Anton and soon realized that this guy seemed to be someone special.

Anton adjusted the gloves on his hands and said, "I understand that what I'm about to say may be surprising, but it's crucial that you understand that throughout history, the presence of supernatural entities has been intertwined with humanity."

Without giving Anton time to explain, Jane looked at him with confusion and asked, "Supernatural entities? What do you mean?"

"I mean beings that exist beyond our scientific understanding, creatures that manifest in different forms and have been interpreted in various ways by different cultures over time. We call them demons, spirits, or evil entities."

Amy smiled, thinking this was a joke, but still asked, "And why would these entities be present in our society?"

"The existence of these entities is not necessarily bad in itself. Throughout history, they have been considered guardians, advisors, and even muses for some. However, there are entities that have deviated from their original purpose, causing discomfort and chaos in people's lives. That's where the role of the exorcist comes in," Anton said, patiently answering all the questions.

This was a job that someone else should do, but since he was the only one in this place, he had no choice but to answer each of these questions himself.

"How has this affected human society?" Jane wanted to find the lie in Anton's words, so she continued asking.

"These beings have influenced our decisions, emotions, and relationships in ways we can't always perceive. Mythological, religious, and folkloric narratives often attempt to explain these interactions. Over time, different cultures have developed methods to understand and deal with these entities, and that's where the exorcist comes in."

After saying this, Anton stood up, knowing that by now most people had been evacuated.

But at that moment, Jane asked, "Why should I believe in all this?"

"Mom, please, this is real." Charley wanted his mother to be silent.

Amy looked at her boyfriend and asked, "Wait, is this not a joke?"

"Are you still with that silly neighbor story?"

Anton sighed and said, "It is your duty to believe. Once involved in this new world, you will live from now on with new knowledge."

"When you stay in a special area where you will have to wait in silence, you have been marked by a vampire who will end up killing each one of you if, for some reason, he escapes. What I am doing is keeping you alive, so don't cause more problems," Anton said, not wanting to sound like a bad guy, but sometimes he had to be more assertive with his words.

The moment everyone heard those words, they didn't know what to say. Charley was the most affected by these explanations because he couldn't believe that things more terrifying than vampires really existed.

At the same time, two completely black trucks parked outside Jane's house, and seeing the barrier that had been established at the neighbor's house, some people positioned themselves around it to prevent it from being damaged.

"The rest of you, follow me; let's report to the Guardian."

Without asking, four more people entered Jane's house, and when everyone saw the weapons they held in their hands, they fell silent.

Amy immediately knew that this was not a joke, no matter how crazy it seemed, and now she didn't know what to think.

"Guardian, we have secured the barrier. The containment team will arrive in a few hours, but before that, we will take care of sealing the entire community," said the agent who seemed to be in charge of this operation.

Anton nodded, looked at Charley's family, and said, "You have been marked by a vampire. You are lucky that we found out about this before you were killed. Surprisingly, we can save the victims of that vampire, so Ed might also be alive."

"Is that possible?" Charley stood up from the couch upon hearing those words.

"We just need to eliminate the real vampire; his army can be released once he dies." Anton nodded as he left the house.

Killing a vampire can free its victims, meaning they shouldn't kill the vampires, and they need to identify the real vampire among all his minions.

The problem is that some vampires may not survive, so this operation will be carried out with the utmost caution so that no one dies if possible.
