By his side

" Fine….." He answered and Genesis didn't say anything after that and neither did him. There was a peaceful silence between both of them. " Are you driving home?" She finally asked. Aiden responded with a short 'Mhh'

Again there was a peaceful silence. " I'm surprised you haven't hung up. It can't be that you miss me right…." He teased.

Genesis shook her head and scoffed. Aiden who had the phone connected to the Bluetooth in his car sighed. " Go sleep I'll see you on Monday then. I'll call you tomorrow." Aiden told her and Genesis didn't know how to tell him not to hang up. She sighed."Mn good night." She told him and hung up rapidly.

'This sense of longing is bothering me too much' Genesis thought and bit her lower lip. She got up and placed her phone down intending to say goodnight to her brother.

When she came out of her room she found Ethan already in pajamas taking a water bottle from the kitchen. Genesis smiled and took out an apple. She took a bite of it and sat on the dining table.

" So where should we go tomorrow?" She asked, already thinking about a few options. " It's already late so let's sleep in then we can eat and go for a run to the park nearby." He told her his plan. "Sleep in?" Genesis wasn't completely inclined to this but she agreed anyway.

"Fine then we should go get ice cream….like we used to." She told him and patted his arm. Ethan nodded and smiled. "I'll log out then. See ya!" She shouted from the stairs and waved goodbye.

"Good night!" He shouted back. " Good night…." She murmured as she walked up the stairs while eating the apple in her hand.

Almost an hour later after taking a warm bath she changed back into the same leggings and tank top.

' Did he get home yet? Should I text him? Nah he's probably asleep…' She thought. Genesis locked her bedroom door and turned off the lights. She threw herself on the comfy bed and turned on her lamp. She went through her phone as she ate her apple and multiple times she would come across Aiden's number.

After a while, she saved the number as 'Boss' she then changed it to 'Fiance' but finally she settled down with just 'Aiden M.' This is because she realized that she has another Aiden saved in her contacts list. Coincidently this is Grace's husband.

She thought for a bit longer before deciding to text him. 'Did you arrive home yet?' She asked. Two minutes passed and she anxiously waited for a response. Just then a message came through. 'Not yet.' He responded. Thinking about it she had never even thought about where he lives. She knows that he moved out of the Miller Family residence a long time ago but it never came to her thoughts of where he moved in.

' Is it far?' She asked. 'You'll know soon.' He responded. '???' She sent three question marks as a response.

She waited for an explanation patiently only to get this as a response 'It's late go to sleep wifey~' Genesis snorted. She could imagine his grinning face as he sent that message.

Not knowing how to reply she responded with something unusual. 'I'll think about it.' She said in her message.

He sent a question mark. Before she could text him back he called her. Genesis pursed her lips and answered. She put the phone in her ear and looked up at the ceiling. " Think about what sweetheart?' He asked. "See I will have to think about that too. 'Sweetheart' and 'wifey' were not discussed earlier so I assume the decision is up to me." She responded. She heard him chuckle.

"Go ahead then." He told her. Genesis grinned. "Alright 'wifey' is cringy so that's a no." She explained. " Let's stick with just Gen." She told him. She heard him hum in response. "Okay sweetheart it is then." He said.

Genesis' smile dropped to the floor. " No we are staying with just Gen." She retorted. Aiden's chuckle turned into a laugh. "That's not fair. Other people can call you Gen. I need to have my way to refer to you as." He told her while grinning.

" What's the difference? I don't get it." She responded pretending not to understand. Knowing her intentions he answered, "I'm not other people sweetheart."

Genesis patted her cheeks. 'This is not right at all. I shouldn't be blushing like a lovesick fool. What the hell is wrong with me!'

" Whatever, I'll hang up." Before she could hang up he called her out. "Wait! At least stay on the line till I arrive." He told her. Genesis sighed and agreed. "Okay." She said simply and went under her covers. She then closed her eyes with the phone in her ear.

They were both in a long silence. It was peaceful. Genesis; who could not sleep earlier, ended up feeling sleepy. Maybe she was just too exhausted after tonight or maybe his call assured her that she can peacefully sleep with him by her side. This weird sensation felt weird to her. Experienced in love or not she is pretty aware that this feeling is not something she has experienced before. How come him being on a simple call with her made her feel so safe?

The more she felt like denying it the more the facts presented themselves in front of her. The fact that she felt secure in his arms and instantly relaxed in his presence made her scared. She felt quite scared to fall in love again but at the same time she felt like letting herself go.

The battle between her mind and heart is truly intense.

Aiden who had arrived at his house soon to be their house was in his study room reviewing some papers. He smiled wishing it were a video call instead of a voice call.

He had arrived when she first texted him. He had lied because this is the first time she initiated a conversation through text messages so he decided to wait and let the conversation last longer.

He stopped going through his papers and simply sat on his chair with his eyes closed, imagining her beautiful face. He very much enjoyed their silence thinking that this action is better than nothing. So far the process they made is measured as immense. Thinking about how they would be able to text and call each other more and even go on dates made him excited. This contract is something he would never regret.

or so he thinks, at least for now.

Looking forward to all the surprises she might give him is strange. He has never experienced this before. Despite never having the feeling he acknowledged it quite fast. He is a straight-forward person and hates to go around in circles. Maybe this is why after a few weeks of contemplating about it he finally accepted the fact that he has feelings for her.

" I have arrived." He said after some time. He didn't want to keep her awake for long either. He heard silence from the other side. "Gen?" He continued to call her name out several times only to receive silence. He even checked whether he still was in the call but she simply didn't answer.

He heard a steady breathing sound from her and realized that she might have fallen asleep. "Pfft" He couldn't help but laugh. He thought about hanging up but then decided to leave the phone on the speaker and continue his work. He thought that maybe after a while she might wake up.

Either way it didn't matter because the sole purpose of his actions was to have her by his side. Even if it is by a phone call.
