Chapter 5

Lilian ran into the housekeeper who was busy placing food on the dining table.

Mrs. Ronké look at her with a warm smile, "Lunch is set."

Lilian immediately pulled a seat for herself and sat down. Opening the bowls, a gush of intoxicating scent wafted into the air. She unconsciously breathe in the aroma as she glance at the different dishes laid on the table.

"Wow, Aunty Ronké. You didn't have to cook all these. This looks yummy, thank you."

Mrs Ronké stood by the side admiring the lady before her. "I didn't know what you would like, so I cooked a little bit of everything."

"That's nice of you, but I don't think I'll finish all this."

Mrs Ronké chuckled, "The Brothers are yet to come over, they will be here soon.

Speaking about brothers, Lilian peered at Mrs Ronké as she asked, "Is Williams, really Martinez biological brother?" Trying to not look to interested on the topic.

"Hmm, He is. Why'd you ask?"

"It's just that, they looked pretty different. They don't have any resemblance at all."

Mrs Ronké let out a little laugh with a snort, "I know right? I've watched those two grow up and I agree with you on that one. Williams looks more like Mr Adenuga, his Grandfather while Martinez got his own resemblance from his Mother. I can see why you are confused but there are some things that they have in common. If you noticed closely, they have the same Color of eyes."

'Oh? She didn't know that!' Lilian kept playing with the spoon in her hand when she sensed an arrival.

"Hello, Aunty Ronké." Williams trotted to his seat, briefly after greeting the elderly woman on the side. His eyes collided with Lilian's as he took his seat.

There were Sparks, as she his gaze captured hers. There was this little tingling sensation inside her that made her heart drop to her gut. 'Calm yourself, Lillian you are a married woman.' She chided.

"Hi." Lillian greeted feeling awkward about the earlier confrontation.

Williams glanced at Lillian without saying anything, he looked away into the food placed on the table, before scooping a portion of fried rice into his plate.

Lillian felt a pinch in her heart, 'how rude.' She felt even more awkward and didn't know what to say before dropping her gaze to her plate and began eating as Martinez walked in.

After the meal, Lilian helped out with the dish, despite Mrs Ronké's refusal.

Coming out of the kitchen, she did not find her husband and his brother anyway.

Looking at the huge house with no one to talk to, she suddenly felt loneliness wash over her. She climbed up to her room to change into a fitting pajamas and get her cell phone.

After a nice shower, she pulled on a soft and light blue cartoon printed pajamas before walking to the huge bed.

While laying on the bed, she picked up her phone that has been neglected for the past few days.

Realizing she hasn't been online for a while, she logged in. There were several congratulatory messages from her friends and colleagues who saw her wedding photos on the internet.

Taking her time, she replied them one by one till she got sleepy and doze off.

**

The sun had already gone down and the clouds were getting dark as night struck.

Standing On the Veranda were two men holding up a glass of wine as they stared outside to the lushness of the backyard garden.

There was a comfortable silence before Martinez decided to break the ice.

"She took contraceptive pills." He said twirling the glass of wine in his hand.

"So? you didn't expect her to conceive a child just after marriage, did you?"

Martinez sighed. "How do I do this? Grandfather is bent on seeing a Grandchild in the next couple of months."

Williams had on a Calm expression as he unhurriedly said to Martinez.

"You should have thought about it before agreeing to a deal when knowing that you... Can't you just tell him the truth?"

"It's not that easy..." Martinez argued.

"So you won't even tell your wife your inability to have children or even have sex?" Williams pressed.

"She doesn't have to know about that." Martinez glanced at his brother and nonchalantly said with his left hand shoved into his pant pocket.

"How do you think, she will feel when she finds out?"

*Sigh*

"I know you only promised to help once but.."

"Martinez, I can not be doing this." Williams stops him from continuing with a shake of his head.

"You have already done it, what is the difference if you continue?" Martinez pressed not backing down.

The two brothers stood glaring at each other, not once backing down.

"If you help me, I'll put out a word for you to stop Grandfather from arranging your Marriage with his best friend's Granddaughter."

Williams rolled his eyes remembering the bratty woman that loved clinging to him since childhood and did not say anything. Silently agreeing with his brother. Though he did not say it, he didn't regret last night. His eyes flashed as he sipped his wine, not once looking at his brother.

"You should go back to your room, your wife might be looking for you."

Martinez let out a snicker before walking away. He silently walked to his room to his waiting wife. He knew he was playing a dangerous game but he won't regret it.

Raising his hand to open the door, he was met with a dark room. Lilian was on the bed, sleeping soundly, albeit tiredly without any Care in the world.

Walking to the bedside, he muttered under his breath while looking at the figure laid spread out on the bed.

"what a silly woman, aren't you afraid I might do something to you sleeping like this?" He calmly arrange her sleeping posture, raised the duvet cover over her before walking to the bathroom to freshen up.
