4 School Secret

<~*Chapter 2*~>

Scott trudged to his first class, analyzing his current state. Although he was tired and agitated, he continued on while ignoring his surroundings.

He blocked out the crazy voices in his head, preparing himself for his long school day. Something felt off though, like the weight of his thoughts were going to crush him. He's never felt so distant from everyone like he does now.

None the less, Scott blocks that out while pondering through his daily schedule. First, his favorite class, English. Although he hates the subject, he loves his teacher, Mr. Ellis. He loathes his other classes but will carry on strong. In addition to his day, Scott thinks about the past few days where he has actually been showing up to school.

School has always been a rough spot for Scott, never fitting in, always enraging others to fight with, and he's always felt alone. When he was younger he had it all, the friends, family, and happiness. As soon as his father left, everything changed and so did everyone else.

Luckily, Scott still had his social image, the "troublemaker." With that, he could get friends and be able to talk to his mom about something. At least, that's how it should've went. One of his best friends, Hannah, decided to stop hanging out with him and only comes crawling back when she wanted something. That's when everyone else left and when his mother met Seth, his step-dad. Soon after that, Scott couldn't stop his rage and ended up skipping his classes, picking fights more often and he didn't realize what was happening around him. Everything fell apart and now he's stuck with horrible guilt and almost failing grades.

Scott wonders, Why couldn't life just be easy? Then he ponders for a moment, isn't that what we all think though..?

Ever since he reappeared from being missing, his friends tried to include him in things but he never wanted to join them. His guilt about that is small but still there. The only people he was okay with talking to are his siblings and two of his old best friends, Leon and Hannah, but they rarely payed him a visit anymore.

Those slowing thoughts stopped when he realized he was sitting at his desk in English. How he has made it into the classroom? No clue, but he was deeply surprised when he noticed Hannah moving her way over to him.

"Hey Scott, why are you in here again today?" She asked, which may sound like a strange question but usually Scott wasn't in first period... or any other period.

Scott shrugs and is very tempted to roll his eyes, but he keeps calm and patient with this annoying bitc-... pretty young woman.

She sighs angrily, "well whatever, don't know why I even bother with you." That response made him disappointed but he wasn't surprised, they hadn't talked much for a while.

"Hey Hannah!" Someone shouted from across the room with a wave. What a lovely conversation Scott and Hannah had, too bad it had to end so soon with another person's interruption.

"Bye Scott." Hannah mutters as she leaves Scott with his thoughts while she scurries to her friends.

Scott and Hannah used to be great friends until recently. People change, for the better or the worse is what they decide. And it just so happens that Scott thinks he, and everyone else, has changed for the worse somehow. He hates everyone and everyone hates him, at least, that's what he believes.

Maybe it was because he was messed up, maybe they hate him for no reason, maybe they just think he's evil and a bad influence on others, or maybe because he's like his dad.

His dad was so friendly, the whole neighborhood loved him. He loved everyone and everything. It's like his dad brought happiness to people or at least brought safety somehow. Now that he's been gone for 9 years, everyone seems to hate him. It's awful to say the least, how people can change their minds so easily.

Scott will always love his dad, even when his dad left him alone to fight battles he never thought he would have to.

It's a crazy world, with spiritual beings all around them. Its peaceful around the world, everyone lives amongst each other in peace. Everyone knows about each other, no hate and discrimination against species. At least, nobody thinks there is. The wall is a reminder that no one knows about the outside, but Scott's content with that for the most part.

Scott is pushed out of his thoughts by the ringing of the school bell, signaling that it's time for class to start.

Mr. Ellis walks in to the enthusiastic classroom, he makes eye-contact with Scott. Phyn Ellis is tall, a few inches more than six feet so he can really draw peoples attention quickly. As he walks to his desk his short, dark hair gently sways and his oceanic eyes stare into Scott's. He's quite handsome in Scott's opinion, and he's friendly too.

"Well well well, what do we have here?" His teacher asks tauntingly, "Scott? Is that really you again today?" Some of the class snickers and tries to hold in their laughs.

"Yes it is." Scott says rolling his eyes, the urge to do it got too strong.

"Well, why have you decided to enlighten us with your presence these past few days?" Mr. Ellis says with a raised eyebrow that could go into the heavens.

"I don't know, thought I might learn something here." Scott says with a mocking tone as he looks to his teacher. He knows his teacher is kind and he plays jokes on everyone when he can so Scott doesn't take the banter to heart.

"Oh, Really? It's not like this is a class or anything." Mr. Ellis responds, making others let out small chuckles.

Scott only rolls his eyes once more, although usually, Scott would have given them all insults and definitely would have taken someone to let out his anger. Actually, he wouldn't even be here normally.

"Well, thanks for joining us again Scott.. We'll take roll now." The teacher says, still eyeing Scott suspiciously.

Scott felt that paying attention was boring but listens to every word Mr. Ellis speaks. Even though Scott didn't attend classes, he always studied at home and made an effort on his homework. So he could understand almost everything Mr. Ellis said, but the words wouldn't sink in considering Scott's mind was all over the place.

All the chaos in his mind can be pinpointed to one particular thing and the voices wouldn't shut up about it. Before the noise in his head, Scott's mind was always filled with thoughts about the world. Although he never showed his interests to anyone, that didn't stop him from book hunting every weekend in the library for information about the rest of the world. He knows it's impossible to get through the walls but that can't stop his curiosity from within. The creepy voices in his head only fuel the burning sensation of not being able to see past the walls.

Scott tries to focus once again but found it pointless, he can just study English later that night. Scott decides to think about his next classes and his thoughts drift to his second favorite class, not because of the teacher because every other teacher besides Mr. Ellis annoys Scott to his core. But the class is interesting because it studies the different essences and teaches students to control them. Scott is borderline obsessed with learning new things about the world, he blames it on his best friend Lucas.

Thinking about Lucas puts Scott in an unpleasant mood, so he tries to listen to the strange people blabbering away but they seem to be quieting down. Now only a few voices could surface, his stupid thoughts. Thoughts of the world, his friends, his family, and the weeks he was gone, he pushed it all away to think about later.

He attempts to focus once again to try to get his mind off of everything. So he grabbed his notebook and started taking notes as his teacher taught the class. Soon though, the bell rings and everyone shuffles out quickly. Scott puts his stuff away, not in a hurry but not like a sloth either. Right when he goes to walk out the door, his teacher stops him.

Mr. Ellis waits until all the students exit the room then asks, "Scott, may we speak for a moment?"

"Sure." Scott says quietly, then steps back from the door and away from his teacher.

"So.. What do you need, Mr. Ellis?" Scott asks, trying to ease the awkwardness in the room.

"Well.. About how you've been acting." Mr. Ellis said, sighing while Scott looks at him confused.

"What do you mean? I've done nothing wrong..?" Scott says confused.

"That's the problem, you've done nothing wrong for the past few days. What happened?" Mr. Ellis asks, showing worry for his student.

"Nothing happened, why is it so bad that I can't actually go to class and do things right?" Scott said, getting annoyed.

"Nothing's wrong with it, but you're not acting like yourself." Mr. Ellis concluded, more concern coming into his voice.

"Well, thanks for your concern but everything is fine. I'm just getting everything back on track in my life.." Scott said, going to walk out the door.

"Scott. I can see your eyes. What happened?" Mr. Ellis questions, gaining Scott's attention again.

"What about my eyes..?" Scott asks hesitantly, scared for the answer.

"You're telling me you haven't seen them? Scott... They're dull and look to be going duller."

Scott froze at that statement. Are his eyes really losing their color? But, he is fine. His essence is still there, he won't be vanishing anytime soon.

"But.. Everything.. What do you mean?" Scott stutters in a panic.

"Calm down, they're not so dull that your emotions would start disappearing.. But Scott, why are they getting dull?" Mr. Ellis asks, his worry was making Scott worry.

"I-.. I don't know." Scott says, thinking of everything. He does know, he just didn't think this would happen because of it. Scott knows that anything can harm his mind though.

"Scott, talk to me if you need to.. I'll be here and my phone number is on the school website. Please talk to me or somebody. I hope you can get your life back on track for the future. Keep working hard and playing around. That Scott is better for everyone." Mr. Ellis says, giving a positive smile to Scott and letting him know that he is there for him.

"Thank you, Mr. Ellis.. I will try my best." Scott says leaving the room puzzled.

As his panic arises his mind drifts to the weeks he went missing.
