Chapter 56 Badass part 2
(Jin's P.O.V)
There was a quiet as everyone's eyes widened at the now crowded arena. I smiled and raised a hand in the air as the hundreds of illusions turned to look at me. My fists clenched and a wave of energy washed out. Sand undulated and ripples formed below me before boom! A huge blast knocked everybody away from the center of the Arena. That wasn't even a skill I'd used. I'd just flexed my energy for a brief second. Unleashing it from the tight control I had to maintain at all times.
The Illusions promptly disappeared and when the dust settled, it was to reveal a sight of groaning bodies. Thor managed to right himself and Mjolnir came flying at me in subsonic speeds. My hands were behind me as I dodged the blow aimed at my head. The hammer whooshed past me and I brought a finger forward. Energy left it and covered Mjolnir, stopping and causing it to rotate around me.
Thor's eyes widened and he tried to call his trusty weapon back to him. His efforts were futile and he brought his other hand forward straining against the psychokinetic grip I had on the hammer. Everyone was shocked.
"Thor…"
Fandral gaped looking worried for his friend.
"Aaarghhh!!!"
The god of Thunder shouted looking enraged as flashes of lightning streaked above us.
"Give. Me. Back. My Hammmerrr!!!"
I rolled my eyes at the tantrum he was throwing, for losing his favorite toy.
It was high time I started my lesson. Which was one of the reasons the queen had challenged me to fight her son. Thor had to change his ways to become a good king. And that started by showing him that relying on one trick to beat everything was a bad idea.
His current thought process when faced with a problem was 'hammer smash!' If that failed then it would evolve to 'Krakoooom! Lightning strike.'
That said, Frigga,Tough love much? What do I care anyway, she promised me the best stash of mead Asgard had to offer. As long as I had something to bargain with when I faced Rick then I was fine and dandy. The fight was a bonus too.
"If you want it that bad, defeat me first. Otherwise you're just wasting your time."
With that said, I sent the Hammer to my inventory.
Thor let out an animalistic sound and jumped at me. His speed carried him straight towards where I was floating like Ebony Maw in Infinity war while pulling his fist back, ready to unleash a devastating punch.
"Huh…no."
A telekinetic blast took him down even faster than he'd come up. I then floated down calmly.
"Thor!!!"
The shout was almost simultaneous. Sif run over to him while Hogun, Fandral and Volstagg tried to pincer me. Loki was over at the side sending false positions of where they were through illusions.
"It's futile."
I grabbed ahold of the moisture in the air and formed tentacles. They sprung out and captured the four. They strained but my grip on their bodies was absolute. My already strong connection with the water element having gone up to prodigious levels.
"Let us..mmmhpp."
For added measure, I covered their mouths. Loki's voice was grating.
Sif helped Thor up while leveling a gaze filled with hate at me. I winced slightly. Don't know why that stung a little. Thor's distaste was gone however. His face was clouded with an expression I would say was… defeated. Huh, did losing Mjolnir really affect him that much? It took a lot and I mean a lot to have Thor despair in the MCU. Then again, he wasn't as battle hardened now as he was then.
"You have the power. Truly you do. What you lack is the discipline to use it."
I told him.
Sif snarled and levelled her blade at me.
"I will show you discipline Intruder."
"No. Don't…"
I begun before trailing off. fuck it. She decided to attack me despite my unwillingness. Her form was great. The best I'd ever seen infact. The first thrust sped towards my solar plexus before an ice sword appeared in my hand and I parried the blow. She blew past me and stopped. A few drops of blood dripped from my sword on to the ground.
To match the blood, her shoulder had a small cut on it. As I said her form was great but it could be better.
"Raagh!!"
She shouted and started sending slashes, thrusts and hacks at my body with impressive skill. I parried everything without moving much. My earlier smile had disappeared. I respected her enough to take the battle seriously.
She overextended and I stopped my swing before I could dismember her right hand.
"Good form and you've clearly mastered the right mindset when fighting. You understand that it's either kill or die. You channel the intent to hurt most impressively. That said," My sword bounced off her shield and she took the opening to go for a thigh thrust by using the momentum from the blow.
"You've grown too dependent on the sword. Your skill with a blade is impeccable but to truly fight in the big leagues, you need to branch out or double down on what you already have. Try enhancement magic to increase your physical parameters or go for swords crafted with inherent abilities for misdirection and increased fire power."
Saying that I blasted her sword away and a water tentacle wrapped around her.
"Unhand me, you bastard!"
I whistled.
"Such uncouth words are unexpected from you lady Sif. Sit…or float at the corner and reflect on your bad behavior."
I dismissed her with a wave of my hand as she protested and fidgeted in frustration and anger.
I then turned my attention back to the crown prince of Asgard.
The Arena quietened around us as I cast a sound isolation rune formation. I looked into his eyes and saw more than anything… confusion.
"You're wondering why. Why I'm this powerful to the point of your father being the only one who can match me."
His eyes widened and he frowned.
"I… Losing Mjolnir… I can't..."
I straightened up and went silent for a few seconds, thinking about what I was going to say.
"You're weak Son of Odin. Not physically but mentally. You think that Hammer is where your power comes from? Did you forget what domain you rule over? I've heard stories about you and the fabled Asgard and in a way I've seen your future… Mjolnir gets destroyed."
He opened his mouth but nothing came out if it. And I wasn't going to elaborate more on that. No matter the dozens of questions he had.
"You can always get another weapon but the one constant thing is that you still retain all of your power. An untapped maelstrom of potential that's just waiting to be unleashed to the world. Personal power is what you should always rely on. Now get up and show me why they call you the god of Thunder, lightning and strength."
His face changed with every drop of my words until a laugh escaped his mouth. Hair obscured his eyes from my sight but from the buildup of a charge in the air, I knew I'd gotten to him. The clouds in the air rapidly started forming together and a light drizzle began to fall.
"You're right. I've… I've never dug this deep and there's so…so much."
His eyes changed to the blue glow from before but this time, there was a well of power behind them. Finally he'd done it. I bet Frigga is smiling wherever she is. He started floating to the air and I smirked.
"This fight is about to get interesting."
I turned my attention to the warriors 3, Sif and Loki. Their expressions told me that they'd never seen Thor like this before.
"Off you go."
I sent them out of the Arena and then a huge Runic formation activated that shielded the spectators from the catastrophic fight about to happen. That runic formation wasn't mine however. I traced the magic back to the queen who smiled at me. Frigga is fucking terrifying. How did she die in the movies again?
"I saw you do something earlier…you acquired unbelievable speed by channelling lightning through you. I wonder if I could do the same."
Thor said.
I rose an eyebrow at his unexpected line of thinking. In a fight, speed is usually a deciding factor between 2 individuals of the same strength. It becomes even more apparent between individuals with different levels of strength so…bravo Thor. You know you can't beat me while I'm so much faster than you.
But he's wrong. I didn't channel lightning through my body. I merely changed my energy to match that of Lightning for a light-show. I was an energy being…I didn't possess speed, strength or durability in the physical sense. I could lift a million tons by using my energy and run at the speed of light through willing it, but the only problem would be my reaction speed which was still a little restricted. Doing those feats came with massive drawbacks however.
The energy would escape my control and absolutely wreck the surroundings. I created a crater the size of a lake once in my world by losing control because of sneezing while meditating.
A huge streak of purple colored lightning exploded from the clouds cutting off my train of thought. The blasts hit Thor point blank and disappeared into him. I swallowed back the laughter at how things had turned out. Thor was taking advantage of his connection to lightning and his godly body to absorb lightning into him to give him the boost he needed to keep up. Just like I'd done before.
"That's what I'm talking about Thor! Think outside the box for a change!"
His fist was magnitudes faster than before as it headed for my face. I brought up my forearm and blocked it, which sent me flying off towards the arena walls. I had gotten a feel for his strength in this new realm of power he had achieved and it was immense. I was so going to get his d.n.a sample.
"I'm not going down that easy Thor!"
I kicked off the wall and barreled into his torso and onto the ground. I dragged his face on the wall of the Arena and threw him away by the cape. He barely went a meter before he disappeared in a burst of speed and I found the ground rushing upto meet me. I felt like laughing in glee. I was still restricting my power but this...this was fun.
I teleported away and blinked into existence high in the sky overlooking the arena. Huge lightning strikes rushed down to meet me at the behest of Thor but I quickly formed an ice-ball around me. I let it fall with me inside, pulling in the drizzle falling around us to increase the size of the thing.
The huge ice-ball exploded into chunks once it hit the ground. Chunks which I sharpened into spikes and gathered around me. I begun trying to snipe Thor from my position with the thousands of ice spikes as he blitzed around the Arena looking for an opening to attack me. An attack finally got him and he flew up, hovering there while clutching a bleeding thigh.
He looked at his blood in disbelief.
"My ice is more enhanced than regular ice so don't look too confused that it made you bleed. It's not even my strongest element."
"I'd be disappointed if it was."
He shouted back and a laugh escaped my mouth.
His hands rose up in that dramatic fashion you see when you know he's about to go all out.
"I hope you survive this. Thor's judgement!"
A huge beam of lightning exploded down towards me, bigger than he'd ever made before.
I pulled back my hand. Let's see whose lightning is stronger.
My hand shot forward and it was like a second sun appeared in the sky. The attacks connected, hiding us from the eyes of our spectators. 2 seconds later, my figure was revealed with a fainted Thor in my arms, calmly walking towards the exit of the arena.
That was awesome.
