37 Chapter 37:

"Oh come on Mira! I just got that seat in the high tables!" Faye whines with irritation when I stared at the red-haired assassin that everyone once feared. A child was stuck on her hip while the other two played in the grass in front of her.

"You promised if I tortured your boss for the rest of his miserable life that you could do me a favor in the future. That time is now." Mira reminds as the red-haired body chewed on his thumb while staring at me with his large green eyes.

"Here, love. Let me have him." The large Lykae king collected his son off Faye's shoulder and tossed him in the air causing the boy to erupt in squeals.

I really want kids with Hrudra right now...

"You realize I help you I lose my place on the high tables forever?" She reminds Mira with a sympathetic expression. Her steel grey eyes looking at all of us in hope to reconsider this decision.

"Love. You never liked those stuck up bitches." The Lykae said causing us to look at in pure shock making Faye blushed terribly.

"Stop cursing in front of the children, Zavier!" Faye barked clearly embarrassed at his words before clearing her throat. "Now Mira. You've always been a close friend of mine, but could I ask who it is that I am risking my career for?" She questions her.

"My mate," I spoke up, my voice was tight from not speaking much due to the last few stressful months. "Hrudra the cold beast," I told her when Faye's mouth dropped open in bewilderment.

"No way! That girl is nuts! She gave me jobs to kill-" She shut her mouth and smiled sheepishly over at her curious mate. "Hrudra had helped me out of the slubs. She saw potential in me as a killer. She told me she'd turn me into a Valkyrie if she ever got her power back. Not that I want to anymore." Faye glanced over at her family with a softness that I didn't know an assassin had.

"Does that mean you'll help us get to Folkvanger?" Dylan questions her.

"Of course. Hrudra and Mira are cod bitches but if they are asking for help. Who am I to say no?" Her grin looked vicious and more evil like an assassin before she spun around to her mate. "Oh, Zavier! We've got a ball to go to!"

〰〰〰

"Hello, guard. I am here with my mate, my bodyguards and my plus ones." Faye nods in a lovely way, her arm wrapped around her mate's waist while Nava and Levi stood guard beside them in similar attire.

Rogan, Valrun, Dylan and I stood behind her and tried not to look suspicious but the golden city of Folkvanger was beyond amazing. Valrun reluctantly held Rogan's hand and smiled sweetly at a nearby guard who was staring at her. Thankfully, her makeup didn't expose us.

"You are aware you can only have one plus." The guard says, tilting her head and seeing the four of us. Her gaze lingered on Valrun for a moment before Faye snapped her fingers in the guard's face.

"Do you know who I am?" She says with attitude, waving her hand for Dylan and I to disappear before letting her mate go. "I am Faye from the high tables! You have no right to..."

Dylan and I drifted away from the brewing fight before I scanned the area for her scent but couldn't feel her anywhere. Guests and Valkyries roamed around the streets and place, laughing and talking with others in an exciting way.

None of us were aware that there was a ball for the Valkyries. I believe they are having this because the blood moon is growing closer and the women here are growing crazed with need. As disturbing as it sounds, I understood Freya and Odin's intentions for the ball.

"Come on. I can scent Khole-"

"Hey!" A girl bounced over to us and grabbed our hands with a large smile. "All the fun is inside! Come on and have some drinks with us!" The girl giggled, her hand touching mine felt disgusting but Dylan seemed to nod and allow her to pull me along.

We were dragged into the ball through the back way where there were no guards at the entrance. Once we were in Dylan smiled at the girl and pushed her hand off his arm.

"Sorry, darling. But I seem to have scent my mate." He admits to the girl.

"Oh! That's so sweet!" The girl clasped her heart with a kind smile that told us that she was purely innocent. "Come on! I will help you!" She cheered happily leading us where all the people were and dragging us up the stairs. "You'll be able to see everyone from up here. Once you see her, I'll get her for you!" The Valkyrie clapped in a delighted tone.

"Thank you." Dylan nodded before leaning over the banister and searching for Princess Khole. I followed suit and leaned over the banister, searching for Hrudra but not finding her anywhere in the crowds.

I sighed deeply, my broken heart throbbing even though it's been months since I've even felt anything. I felt dead even though I was alive.

When could I end my misery...?

"There. She's right there." Dylan pointed out in the crowd as I spotted Khole speaking with a few women. Her smile made him sigh in relief though it felt like my heart shattered. Did this mean that Princess Khole couldn't find Hrudra...?

"Khole is your mate! Oh my god! I am so happy for her! I'll go tell her the wonderful news!" The girl clapped before hurrying down the stairs to collect Khole before he glanced over at me and noticed my expression.

"We will find her. Khole must know something." Dylan assures me, clasping my shoulder in a comforting way while we noticed Valrun and Rogan on the dance floor. I could sense their tension from over here, but I couldn't help but smile at the sight.

Rogan looked like he was in heaven while Valrun looked to be questioning her sexuality. The thought made me chuckle out loud.

"They're a tad tense out there." Khole buts in causing Dylan to grasp her in a tight hug. "I'm sorry, hon. I knew that telling you would end up everyone's news. I needed to find her on my own." She sighs, pressing her face in his shoulder.

"Y-You saw her?" I said, staggering on my own feet.

Khole pulled away from Dylan before smiling over at me. "Yes. She is here. But there's something you need to know."

〰 Hrudra 〰

"Why aren't you at the blood moon's ball?" Cali asked me while I sipped on the whiskey, feeling a bit tired from the medicine. Cali and Edya had remained here with me while everyone else left to attend the ball.

I smiled at her and shook my head before running a hand down my white dress. "That's not my kind of thing," I admit when nodding to the girls. "Why are you both here?" I ask, standing up from my chair and taking the weapon from her hands.

"We didn't want to leave you after what happened with Khole..." Edya mumbles making me chuckle and set my glass down on the chair I was sitting in.

"I'm alright. She probably just thought I was someone else and tried bringing false memories back. She'll understand when she returns tomorrow." I smiled and tilted my head at the girls. "You both should be having fun at the ball. Don't make this into a Cinderella story. I won't be your fairy godmother." I remind turning to grab my glass again.

"Why not! It would be so much fun!" Edya chirps happily making me chuckle.

"Maybe because I am not an old rat that flies in the sky?" I point out, both of the girls crackling in laughter. "Plus, you'll regret it if you don't go. I know you both too well." I comment causing them to share a look.

"We want to spend some time with you. Is that so bad?" Cali asks me making me sigh and swirl the whiskey in my hands.

"I just don't want you to waste your time on me. I feel like I've caused so much trouble today and-"

"Cali! Edya! Come on! I met some cute guys for you girls!" Khole yelled out to us, her head peeking through the fence with a large grin. They both gaged at the thought making me laugh softly and pat their backs.

"Go. Have fun for me. I want to teach you both as a pair for now on. You'll make fantastic sparing partners." I smiled as they nodded and stood up from the ground.

"Come! They're getting restless!" Khole singed, disappearing from the gate entrance causing Cali and Edya hurry towards the gates, no doubt the blood moon affecting them but for some reason. I felt no sense of arousal.

I sighed deeply, throwing the glass against the ground and rubbing my temples. I knew that I was growing more and more confused with every second, but I couldn't do anything since Freya and Odin wouldn't tell me anything.

It's so frustrating.

With a deep sigh, I picked up the weapons the girls were fighting with and placed them back on the rack. I couldn't get out the fight Khole and I had earlier and how I knew so many techniques. It was causing me so much stress that I felt like I was going to pass out.

"H-Hrudra...?" I heard a man say my name behind me as I turned around and saw a man with dark hair and dark brown eyes. Even in the darkness, I could see the dead look in his eyes which killed me.

"I'm sorry. Do I know you?" I ask politely causing him to laugh softly and smile. His smile the most gorgeous sight I've ever seen.

He didn't say another word, walking over to me as I backed away from him. The man didn't take the hint and pulled me against him, kissing me with all his strength.

I hummed in shock, placing my hand on his chest and staring at him in shock. With my remaining strength, I shoved him away and stared at him in a disgusted manner. He stared at me with a grin despite the look I was giving him.

"Why in the world did you do that?! You can't just kiss anyone-" He grabbed me again, forcing another kiss against me but this time he ran his lips against my neck. I yelped out, clutching onto his shoulders and tilting my head unconsciously.

I shouldn't enjoy this...

But I am so very much.

"Ah. Please... Don't stop." I cried, holding onto him as he collected me off the ground and dragged me into my house. He growled when he realized the door was locked when I got off of him and unlocked the door quickly.

Once the door was open, he shoved the door open and shoved me against the wall. I grinned at him, feeling his lips return on my neck while his hands roamed over my body driving me crazy with renewed need.

"Bedroom is upstairs," I mumble out, throwing his tux jacket off his shoulders and tearing his shirt apart. A dark feral growl left his lips when he threw me over his shoulder and rushed upstairs. His excitement matching my own.

The sparks, the underlying need... I couldn't ignore it.

I needed this man here and now.

He threw me against the bed, pushing my dress up on my hips while kissing me and driving me crazy. I tangled my fingers in his hair, holding his lips captive with mine.

"Hrudra... My mate. I've missed you."
