2 Welcome To The System

When the clock struck 12 in the afternoon, Consor unwillingly stored her comics away and locked them in the warehouse carefully.

Determined to protect her secret at all costs, Consor meticulously erased her presence from the warehouse's surroundings. She was extremely skilled in this aspect for reasons unknown to herself.

Anyway, even Felis, someone who was extremely skilled in catching thieves would find it extremely difficult to notice Consor's erased presence in the warehouse's premises now.

Consor giggled happily at the thought of having duped her brother and she skipped along to the insides of the mansion merrily.

Felis was back on time. In his hand was a closed box that he held close to his chest.

Consor got up to greet and receive him as she was in a good mood today after reading her comics, but seeing the blood covered Felis, she was stunned stiff.

Felis smiled weakly and lowered his head. He carefully placed the closed box on the table before his legs lost all strength and he collapsed to the floor while painting the white tiles red.

......

Felis felt something soft against his head. It was so soft that Felis imagined himself sleeping on the World's best pillow, even then, the comparison seemed to be quite lacking to describe his current feelings.

*Ding*

Suddenly, Felis was pulled into a pitch black world and a stream of words appeared brightly in front of him.

[ Welcome To The System.]

"System?" Felis tilted his head to the side in confusion, but no other words appeared in this dark world to explain him of his situation. It seems that he had to figure-out the things on his own!

Let me see....

Felis closed his eyes and tried to remember each and every event that took place around him today.

Today, he got up on time, kissed his little sis as his lucky charm, took his morning stroll, brought the bread as usual, 'fed' his little sis on time, walked to the 20th street to buy his little sis her dress, brought the dress quickly from the Mainstream Fashion Store, and finally, he was attacked by a group of bad guys who tried to kill him.

"Hmm! The only abnormal thing that happened today seemed to be the case where those 'little kids' tried to kill me!"

"Now, Why did they try to kill me someone poor like me?! For revenge? No!... For fun?.... Nah! They were not that jobless! Then, for my points?....ok! Let's say it's for my points! Then how did they find me?....."

In this world where popularity meant power, there existed two methods to farm popularity points. The first method was to directly impress the audience with your skills to gain popularity points from them. This method was a win-win situation to both the performer and the audience.

The second method was to kill-steal points from someone.

Popularity points were manifestation of positive mind energy of the audience. After someone's death, their popularity points won't just disappear into nothing, but instead roam around the dead body in the form of Mind Energy.

Absorbing this mind energy would give Dark Points which could be refined into popularity points through the Popularity Index. This method was usually used by the dark side of the human race.

Felis thought for a minute, once-again going through any anomalies that he might have faced today.

"Was it the assistant?...." He had a good guess why the bad guys had attacked him, but he was not sure.

When Felis had tried to buy the dress for Consor at the Mainstream Fashion store, a beautiful shop assistant had helped him in the purchase. Felis was guessing that this little assistant and the bad guys that had attacked him probably knew each other.

"Did she think that I am rich seeing my indifference to the price?..." The more Felis thought, the more his conjecture made sense.

Totally, the situation was like this.

A beautiful shop assistant had seen Felis spend 4000 points without blinking his eyes on a single dress for opposite sex and probably thought that Felis was extremely high on points. She immediately contacted her 'bad friends' who successfully surrounded Felis and gave him a good beating.

Even though Felis had managed to beat those little kids until their mothers could no longer recognise them, in order to protect Consor's newmy brought dress, he had taken five narrow stabs from his opponent's knifes, and a single serious stab to his left thigh.

Felis also had a single Irrefutable reason to doubt the beautiful shop assistant.

She did not give Felis any popularity points. Yes! She had not given Felis a single point when she saw him spending 4000 points at once! This was obviously odd considering his stunning looks. Which girl would not be impressed when faced with a rich handsome guy? Obviously not a shop assistant!

"Everything seems to be fine, but, what is this System?" After so much analysis, Felis still could not figure out the origin behind this System.

He thought about it for a few more seconds, but dropped it after some thought.

'It does not seem to harm me anyway.'

With this attitude, Felis's situation took a turn from finding the truth about the system to how to exit the dark space.

"Exit..." He tried the old fashioned method.... and it worked.

Felis opened his eyes and found himself on top of Consor's lap. He stayed in that position, reluctant to give up on the heavenly feeling at the back of his head.

"How is the dress?" He asked.

"Ugly! It's too ugly!" Consor almost screamed her reply.

"It's a nice dress! It taught you a lesson." Felis chuckled and extended his hand to wipe away the small amount of water that was starting to form at the end of her eyes.

"Yes! It taught me a great lesson. I will never ask Felis for anything anymore!" Consor smiled and caught his hand. Because of her selfishness, she had forced Felis to go out and buy a dress which harmed him.

Consor did not like this. She did not like the guilt she was feeling! Just why did she have to read comics if they hurt her brother in this way!

"Silly girl! It'a your brother's fault for not being strong enough. If you don't demand me, who else would!" Felis retorted with a fake angry face.

"Yes!" Consor nodded with tears. "If not me, who else?" She hated herself for being selfish, but she also loved herself for being her brother's little sister!

Yes! Love is a conflicting emotion indeed.
