10 Who is Ava's Father

Jeff was working on his farm when he felt his head spinning, before he could take seat he blocked out and fell to the ground.

"Grandpa! Grandpa!" Jenny cried while running towards Jeff. Ava turned around and the sound of her daughter's voice and saw Jeff lying lifeless on the ground. She rushed over to him shouting "dad! dad! what happened?"

Jeff was motionless, Ava called one if the workers on the farm to help her carry him to the car. She then took her daughter and drove to the hospital. When Jeff arrived in the emergency room he was still unresponsive.

The doctors conducted some tests and descovered that he had a rare form of anaemia that required blood transfusions. Ava was informed that a family member needs to give blood for Jeff.

Ava decided to give blood if she was a match. After doing the test and realising tgat she was not a match for her father, she called her mother to tell her to come to the hospital with Amoy and Amy to see if they were match. Both May and Amoy's blood matched Jeff's.

After a few days in the hospital, Jeff woke up, all he could remember was when his head started spinning on the farm.

"Dad, you are awake" Ava said

"Grandpa, I miss you" said Jenny

"I missed you my baby, come give grandpa a hug" he opened his arms and embraced Jenny.

Ava went to tell the doctor that her dad was awake. The doctor went to examine Jeff to ensure that he was recovering well. After the examination the doctor asked Ava to leave the room so he could discuss something with Jeff privately. After Ava left the room Jeff asked "what is it doctor?"

" Mr. White, we had to give you a blood tranfusion, Ava was the one that brought you here, so she agreed to give you some blood, but when we tested her blood, she was not a match for you, so out of curiosity, I did some further checks whuch revealed that you are not her father. I know it was not my place interfere, but I think you deserve to know the truth."

Jeff sat there looking into space and not saying anything. Doctor Brown asked, " are you ok Mr. White?"

" Yes, am fine, I am just remembering an incident when Ava was very young and we went shopping with my good friend Tim, hand someone asked if Ava was Tim's daughter and I laughed."

Jeff shook his head and said "I must have been a fool to not see it all these years."

"Mr. White, before you make any decision, please think about it carefully," with that said dr. Brown left the room.

Ava then return to the room and saw her father in a daze. "Dad, why do you look so gloomy, the doctor said you just need to take more rest and stick to your diet and medication."

"I know, I am just tbinking about my favourite daughter and hiw much you must have been worried about me." Jeff responded.

"Sit beside me, I want to tell you something, you will always be my favourite daughter, no matter what."

"Dad, you are scaring me, what is the problem?" she asked

The doctor just told me that he did a DNA test, and you are not my biological daughter, but whether or not, I still love you as my own wants to continue being your dad."

"What are you talking about dad? how can I not be your daughter? That doctor is lying dad!! I am your daughter!" Ava said between sobs

"No Ava the doctor isnt lying, I was blind to not see the truth many years ago, I love your mother too much to belueve she would have an affair with someone else. I was in love with you from the day you were born, and I could not afford to not be your dad."

"Dad what must I do now? how do I tell Jenny that you are not his grandfather?" she asked.

"You dont have to, at least not right now." said Jeff.

" I need to get some fresh air, I need to clear my head, I am going outside for a while." Ava told Jeff before leaving the room.

She took Jenny from the nurse in the waiting area and left the hospital. Ava was so engulfed in her thoughts that she stepped out into the road without looking. she was hit by a moving truck, but a young man had grabbed Jenny just intime to save her from being hit. Ava died on the spot.
