4 The Night Lesson

"What do I do?" Alex sighed as he sank to the floor. "I don't even know how to control a single part of my dragon powers" He said through a frown.

"We could ask a teacher to give us a quick lesson!" Gregory suddenly shouted with a big grin on his face. "But what teacher would teach three random students at night?" Sylvester coldly said to Gregory.

"I think it is a better plan than not doing anything." Alex said as he looked up. "Okay we will go see if a teacher is willing to help." Jack said. They got up and walked out of the cafeteria towards the teacher dorms. When they arrived at the teacher dorms they saw the same teacher that gave the students their bathroom necessities before dinner.

They quickly ran up to her and shouted "Hello teacher!" "We were wondering if you could teach us a little bit about how to transform parts of our body into parts of our soul animal?" Alex said while looking at her with hope filled eyes.

"Why are you students so interested in learning before classes have even started?" She questioned them. "We just want to get a head start so that we don't look dumb on the first day." They replied with innocent looks on their faces.

"Okay I will teach you the basics of transformation, but it won't take five minutes to be able to transform even a small part of your body. So don't get discouraged when you don't succeed at first." She motioned with her hand to follow her as she walked toward the classrooms. After a minute of walking they reached an empty classroom and the teacher flicked the lights on.

"Oh I forgot to introduce myself. My name is professor Shelly. You may call me professor S if you want." Professor Shelly said to the boys. "Thanks so much for teaching us Professor Shelly!" The nota quickly thanked her and then sat down in the front row.

"The first step in being able to transform a part of your body is being able to get the approval and respect from your soul animal. To do that you must spend time with your soul animal. It cannot be forced and that is why it takes a long time for most people to be able to transform." The professor told the boys. "Now enter your soul space and try to bond with your souls animal. Remember to earn its respect, trust, and approval."

The boys closed their eyes and entered their soul spaces. Alex looked up at the massive dragon in his soul space. The dragon radiated power and Alex was very scared. "Mighty dragon please lend me your power so that I may be able to transform." Alex said to the dragon in a whisper.

"WHY DO YOU WANT MY POWER!" The dragon roared at Alex.

"I w-want your-r power to-o be able to d-defend myself and my friends" Alex stammered.

"YOU WANT POWER TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR FRIENDS? I CAN ADMIT THAT IT IS A BETTER CAUSE THAN MOST PEOPLE!" The dragon yelled down at Alex.

"Will you lend me your power then? I promise that I won't use it for evil purposes!" Alex shouted with conviction.

"I WILL LEND YOU MY POWER IF YOU SHOW ME YOUR COURAGE!" The dragon yelled back.

"How do I show you my courage?" Alex asked.

"YOU MUST NOT RUN AWAY FROM ONE OF MY ATTACKS! TAKE THE ATTACK HEAD ON AND DON'T BACK DOWN!" The dragon yelled . Then the dragon suddenly shot a ball of fire out of its mouth. The ball of fire flew toward Alex at a terrifying speed. Alex was very scared but he new that he needed to withstand this attack to be able to gain the power he needed.

The fireball hit Alex on the chest and burned his skin. "Ahh!!" Alex screamed in pain but then it suddenly vanished. He looked down and there was no burn on his skin anymore.

"YOU HAVE COURAGE HUMAN!" the dragon said to Alex. Suddenly, the dragon shrank down in size. "Let me get a good look at you." the dragon said as he looked at Alex's body. "You will be strong one day" the dragon said with a nod. "What is your name human?"

"My name is Alex. What is yours?" Alex asked the now smaller dragon.

"My name is Korinth." Now that we know each others' names we can create the equal respect bond. Touch my hand and say my name." Korinth told Alex.

Alex reaches out his hand and touched Korinth's scaly claw. "Korinth" Alex said

"Alex" Korinth said. After they both said each other's name bright yellow light surrounded their bodies and started slowly fading. After a few seconds the light was completely gone. "Now you can start to use my power to protect yourself young Alex." Korinth said.

"Thanks so much Korinth!" Alex said as he left the souls space and opened his eyes.

Professor S looked at Alex and asked him if he had already given up.

"No I already created the bond of equal respect with my soul animal" Alex responded.

"What you already created the bond!" Professor S shouted. "How? Show me a transformation. Focus on creating a part of your animal on your palm. It can be a scale or fur." The professor was flipping out because she couldn't believe that this kid already created the bond.

"Okay" Alex said as he focused on creating scales on his palm. When he opened his eyes he saw Professor S's mouth open as she was staring at his arm. He looked down and was shocked. He saw that he not only grew scales on his palm, but all the way up to his shoulder.

"How? How is this possible?" Professor S said as she sat down to think.
