The Pokeball open up and release a bipedal, feline Pokémon with primarily yellow and black fur.

The fur is thinner and black on its lower legs, lower body, upper arms, and face, and is thicker and yellow everywhere else. There is also a zigzagging black stripe on each thigh and two more stripes on each forearm. There are small tufts of light blue fur on its chest and a longer tuft on its forehead.

It also has a single, lightning bolt-shaped blue whisker on each cheek and a long ponytail-like bunch of fur extends from between its shoulders.

The Pokemon has large ears with black insides and blue eyes. Its forepaws have four clawed fingers and light blue pads, while its hind paws have only three clawed toes.

"Meet Zeraora, an Electric-type pokemon from Alola region."

"Wow, a new pokemon from another region," said Dawn, not bothering to take her Pokedex to check anymore since she knows the Pokedex probably wouldn't have any data on it.

"Yeah, and it's Electric-type and look super cool" added Ash and turn to his partner, "Hey Pikachu, see if there any new move we can learn from it."

"Pika..."

"Look like you guy exciting to see new pokemon, that the spirit a pokemon trainer should have,"

Cynthia tells the two young trainers with a smile.

"But I wonder what Paul plan is, Zeraora looks like a tough opponent to beat," said Brock.

From what he sees of Poe's pokemon, even if just one, they are not an opponent you can so easily beat without a good plan.

"Chimchar, stand by for battle."

Paul's Pokeball releases a bipedal Pokémon resembling a chimpanzee.

Its fur is primarily a shade of orange, though its face, outer ears, underbelly, hands, and feet are light yellow. Its rear has a small, round, red patch that is usually obscured by flames produced by burning gas in its stomach. Its ears are large in comparison to its head size and red inside. It has two pointed teeth in its upper jaw.

Chimchar has red markings nearly surrounding its eyes, a swirl-like symbol on its chest, and five fingers on its hands with three toes on its feet. It has a swirly crest of hair on its head.

"You can go first, Paul," Poe offers his challenger the first move.

Paul gladly takes it and command Chimchar, "Alight. Chimchar, Dig!"

Chimchar jumps up a bit and dives into the ground, disappear.

After a while, Chimchar got out of the ground behind Zeraora and lunch itself toward Zeraora.

Just as Chimchar about to strike his opponent, the figure of Zeraora move away in a bolt of blue lightning and quickly got behind Chimchar. This all happens within seconds.

"Zeraora, Thunder Punch" Zeraora surrounded his right fist in light blue electricity and slam it into Chimchar, sending it flying a couple of feet back and instantly knocking it out.

"Holy smoke, that pokemon is fast," said Dawn, covering her gaping mouth.

"Yeah, I don't even think Sceptile could move that fast" agreed Ash.

His Sceptile was one of the fastest pokemon his know but even so, it not as stupidly fast as Zeraora being right now.

"Yes, that speed will be a problem unless Paul does something about it," said Brock and turn to Cynthia, "What do think Cynthia."

"If Paul wants to have a chance of beating Zeraora, he will somehow have to stop it from moving but easier said than done" replies Cynthia.

"Return" a right light shot out of the Pokeball and cover Chimchar, returning it Pokeball, "You should be ashamed," said Paul, looking at Chimchar's Pokeball before placing it back and taking out another one.

"Elekid, stand by for battle."

Paul's next pokemon was Electric-type baby Pokémon.

Elekid is a yellow, round-bodied Pokémon with black stripes. Elekid's arms are bulky in proportion to its body, and it has three claws instead of fingers.

It has two stripes on its arms, which wrap all the way around. There are two horns on top of its head which resemble the prongs of a plug, complete with holes in their sides.

These horns glow bluish-white when Elekid is fully charged. Elekid has a black lightning bolt marking on its chest. Two rows of stripes are near the marking, with the pattern continuing around its lower back. Its legs are black, and its feet are rounded and toeless.

"Why did Paul summon Elekid? it not every effect against Zeraora" ask Dawn, wondering why Paul would use a pokemon like Elekid when Zeraora is also Electric-type.

"I bet Paul gonna use Zeraora's Electric-type moves to power up Elekid as he did before," said Brock. He sees Paul do it before, he wouldn't be surprised if Paul does the same thing here.

"You can go first this time," said Paul, letting his opponent have the first move this time and see if he can power up Elekid.

"Alright, if you said so" replied Poe, "Zeraora, use Discharge."

With his trainer command, Zeraora crouches its body as it becomes surrounded in blue sparks of electricity and then Zeraora spread his arms wide, firing multiple bolts of blue electricity toward Elekid.

"Elekid, stand your ground." Elekid crosses its arms and lets the multiple bolts of blue electricity hit him, blinding everyone's views of his body.

"E...lekid" After the attack dies down, Elekid was still standing in the same place as before with few bruises but other than that it looks fine.

"Good, now Thunder" Elekid jumps into the air with its arms spinning rapidly as yellow sparks appear around its horns and it then fires a huge bolt of yellow electricity at Zeraora.

Even seeing the bolt of yellow electricity incoming, Poe didn't give Zeraora any command to move away and let the bolt hit him.

"How?..." asked a wide eye Paul, watching Zeraora being struck by Thunder but looking fine without feeling any pain at all.

"You not the only one that can use electricity for its own benefits. An Electric-type move wouldn't do anything to Zeraora, infect, it'll heal him," replied Poe with a smirk.

"You ready to try that again. Here a special move of Zeraora, Plasma Fists!"

Zeraora's fists become surrounded in light blue electricity and then it slams its fists onto the ground, sending a stream of light blue electricity traveling through the ground and toward Elekid.

Seeing someone else use something he comes up with against him and feeling his pride hurt, Paul didn't back down for the challenge.

"Elekid, stand your ground!" Elekid crosses its arms, trying to take on the attack again.

The stream of blue electricity struck Elekid and send him overborne. Elekid than fall down and fainted on the spot

"Oh man, that Plasma Fists was so cool!" exclaimed Ash excitedly.

"I wonder why Paul didn't tell Elekid to dodge that attack, he must know from the first move that Elekid can't absorb all the electricity without taking damage."

"Paul's pride must take a blow when Poe uses the same thing that does and didn't back down for Poe's challenge to see who can use other pokemon for his own better" determine Brock for what he sees so far and what he know of Paul's character.

"You know... it seems like Poe knows of Paul's attitude and knew how he would react, so he uses that to get Paul to make a careless call," said Cynthia, making everyone wonder if that really is true.

'Stupid!' Paul clenched his teeth as he returns Elekid to it Pokeball, he can't believe he let his emotion get the better and make a careless mistake.

Taking a deep breath and cooling his head down, Paul takes out another Pokeball and throws it out.

"Torterra, stand by for battle" Paul calls out his very first pokemon.

Torterra is a bulky quadruped Pokémon resembling a tortoise, with a large shell covering its back. There are a single, oak-like tree and three triangular, stony extensions resembling mountain peaks on the top of the shell. There is a patch of brown, resembling soil, next to the tree.

A white rim surrounds the shell and forms a diamond-shaped continuation on the front.

Torterra's body appears sectioned, with the upper half being green and the lower half brown.

Its mouth is jagged and at the end of its snout is a dark brown beak, giving it the appearance of a snapping turtle. Its lower jaw is green and there are two large spikes protruding from its cheeks. Torterra's small, red eyes are encircled by a black ring. Its legs are thick and they have four toes each, which appear as if they are actually jagged stones. There are three toes on the front and one on the heel.

"Torterra will be very good against Zeraora," said Brock.

Since Zeraora is an Electric-type and Torterra is part Grass and Ground-type, it'll be every effect against Zeraora.

"Yes, with Torterra being part Ground-type, all Electric-type moves will be useless on its," added Cynthia. She can't wait to see how this battle will go.

"Torterra, use Earthquake" Torterra rise it front two legs and stomp down hard, sending shockwaves throughout the ground.

"Zeraora, jump" before the shacking could reach, Zeraora jump hight into the air, avoiding the earthquake.

'Good...' this was just what Paul want it, for Zeraora to jump into the air.

"Now, Rock Tomb" Torterra stomp down again and multiple giant rocks shoot out of the ground and fill the other side of the battlefield.

With no safe spot to land, Zeraora fall and crash into the rocks, causing Zeraora to temporary unable to move.

Paul could use Rock Tomb for the beginning but he wants Zeraora to take some damage so he can finish it off in his next move.

"Before it can move again, use Frenzy Plant to finish it!"

"Torte-ra..." Torterra's body becomes outlined in green and it slams its front two legs into the ground.

Giant roots with spikes on them come out of the ground and rush toward Zeraora who just got on its feet.

Poe stares as the point of the giant roots speed down on Zeraora without any nervousness but a big smile on his face.

"Now, let show them you made of. Zeraora, Close Combat with everything you got!"

"Zera!" getting the command, Zeraora roar as he starts throwing punches rapidly toward the incoming roots.

"What, how can this be!" Paul agape.

In front of him, the giant roots completely came to a halted in mid-air without being able to advance

Zeraora was continually punching the point of the giant roots with so much speed that it looks to be multiple arms were punching as the time.

"Now, destroy it!" Poe calls out.

After a moment of struggling between the two attacks, Zeraora gives the final punch and break apart the giant roots.

Paul wasn't the one shock with going on, the crowd that watching was in the same boat.

"Wow, Zeraora won..." Ash whispers in astonishment. He was too amazed by what happened, he couldn't yell out his voice.

"Yeah, not only did he stops it, he even destroys it" even though Ash didn't say it out loud, Dawn hears him and was just as surprised.

"It's amazing, they must work very hard to able to do something like that," said Cynthia.

Her Garchomp could easily block those roots but she not sure if her pokemon could stop it by attacking as Zeraora did, which needs some serious power and speeds.

"Yes, that why you need to keep working hard because there always be someone better than you, somewhere" stated Brock.

"Alight, Zeraora. Finish with Bounce."

Zeraora jumps high into the air, front flips as it falls and brings it right leg down on Torterra.

With Torterra couldn't move from the side effect of using Frenzy Plant, Zeraora's leg struck hard on its head and knocking it out.

"Return" after returning Torterra to it Pokeball, Paul has a disappointed look on and didn't bother taking out any more Pokeball.

"I guess that it," said Paul. He could continue to battle but it would be the same and the Torterra was his stronger pokemon.

"I see," said Poe and smile at his pokemon, "You did good, Zeraora... return."
