Roy stared at both duplicates, he could tell that one was bigger than the other but not by much. The pokemon Roy was staring at was known as Porygon, which was the best choice in his humble opinion.

Porygon!

Porygon!

Both Porygon gave robotic cries, as the two levitated off of the ground. Roy looked at the two before inspecting both.

'They're at level one? Are they coming fresh off the factory line or something?' These were baby pokemon, but these pokemon were baby-baby pokemon!

"Excuse me, are these fresh pokemon or something?" Roy asked curiously.

"Yes, they are. Everyone will be given fresh pokemon that pretty much hatched not too long ago. We've had enough time to prepare for this over the course of a year, so we had more than enough time."

The man nodded and explained patiently to Roy.

"Will everyone have access to the same pokemon as the top five, or...?" Roy wondered. It wouldn't make sense if everyone was granted this privilege.

"No, that's not the case. The list of pokemon for those from 6 to 10 will be cut short. The talent will stay the same, but after the top ten, it will be lowered with the pool of pokemon options also lowering."

Roy nodded, this made sense as it should.

"You've chosen a good pokemon, this pokemon is extremely rare and wouldn't be handed out so easily. Those higher-ups actually had to come to vote in order to decide to hand this pokemon out to the public."

The man said with a hint of envy.

With Porygon's capabilities, they were hard-pressed to hand this pokemon over. They didn't believe any trainer from the younger generation would choose such a weird-looking pokemon, anyway. Only those scientists were truly allowed to use this pokemon, but they gave the option to these young trainers.

"Will those pokemon be removed from the list?" Roy looked at Porygon and asked.

"Yes, no one else picked it." He nodded and said with a grin.

Roy sighed in relief in his heart, it was nice to be and feel unique. He didn't want others to have everything he had.

"I want this one here, it's to my liking." Roy pointed at the Porygon he wanted. There wasn't much of a difference between them besides their nature and ability.

Roy had chosen the one with the Download ability.

"Alright, since you're in the top five, what Poke ball would like it to be placed in?" The man pointed to a poster on the wall, it had several types of Poke balls from the pokemon franchise on it.

Roy took one look and chose the Luxury ball for it. The man laughed and used some special device to disconnect the Poke ball it was originally in to replace it.

"Porygon, this is your new trainer. He'll be your buddy from now on, so be good and follow his orders."

The man recalled the other Porygon before speaking to the Porygon Roy wanted.

Porygon!

Porygon stared at Roy before giving out a delighted cry.

"Here you go young man, you can do the honors." The man tossed Roy the Luxury ball and said with a smile.

Roy caught the Luxury ball as he couldn't help but snicker to himself.

"Alright, Porygon, we have a long journey ahead of us and many places to explore." Roy walked directly in front of Porygon with an uncontrollable smile.

"Porygon!" Porygon shivered and gave another cry before Roy softly tossed the Luxury ball over Porygon's head.

Porygon was capsulated before the Poke ball fell into Roy's hands. The center of the Poke ball started blinking with red light and shaking before stopping.

Click!

Roy had finally gotten his first pokemon!

"Congratulations!" The man clapped and laughed.

"Alright, kid, I wish you the best on your journey. Remember, safety first. Danger lurks around almost every corner in this world, this means pokemon and yes, even people."

"Thank you, sir. I will keep that in mind." Roy nodded. He knew good and well how dangerous pokemon and people could be.

Afterward, Roy was sent out. Another man came his way and escorted him away to pick up a few items. The first he was allowed to choose from was his Storage Backpack.

Roy chose a Blue and Black Storage Backpack, he liked this color scheme the best. He checked the storage bag and was elated, this piece of technology was amazing.

The storage bag was only of low-level quality, but the space inside was the size of a standard bedroom. This meant Roy could even store his bed in here if he wanted!

After being given his storage Backpack, Roy was escorted somewhere else. There was an old man behind the counter, he even saw Jayce.

"This is where you'll be able to pick your Held and Evolutionary items. You can choose two different items, so choose wisely. If there is something here that you're looking for that might not be there, you can ask the man at the desk to have it special ordered."

The guide told Roy what this area was all about. They broke these areas up into separate places for everyone's privacy.

"Thanks, I understand." Roy saw that Jayce had chosen an orange storage Backpack. It would also seem that Jayce had already chosen what items he wanted before leaving.

As soon as Jayce left, Roy approached the counter. They had set up some type of stall that contained a large number of items.

"Ah, you must be they ranked five contestants, am I right?" The old man smiled before turning to look at Roy. The old man looked in the distance behind Roy, and the man that escorted him nodded.

"Yes, that would be me." Roy nodded and confirmed.

"Alright. What would you like, this is the list of items we have. Don't get too dizzy now from looking at so many, choose what you need. From your placement, it would seem that you can choose two items."

The old man pushed a list forward after speaking.

"Thanks, let's see." The list of items went on and on, there were even some items on the back. Roy was really tempted to get the Assault Vest, this was a really good item that would stick with him forever.

"I want an Eviolite and an Upgrade, is this possible?" Roy scanned the list for a minute and concluded. He didn't see an Upgrade on the list, but maybe they forgot or something.

"Upgrade? This..." The man looked troubled before continuing. "This item, we don't have it in stock, but it might be up for special order."

The old man quickly skimmed through a list on the computer and found that this item wasn't in stock.

Roy needed an Upgrade for Porygon later down the line, so it could evolve. He had chosen Porygon for many reasons. This pokemon had a large move pool, one weakness, it was rare, could hack things, and it didn't require food, water, and oxygen to survive.

Roy would pretty much save money from all of this. It could even be taught the move teleport, Porygon was too good and rare to pass up.

"This item is up for special order, I can put in an order for you. You can pick this item up at one of our branches when it arrives." This was all the old man could do, as he spoke bitterly.

"Okay, so how would I know when the item arrives at one of these branches? Which branch of the Pokemon Alliance are you sending it to?"

"Things are much easier for you, once you get your Pokedex; they'll message you through that about its arrival. As for the branch it will be delivered to, it is located in Goldenrod City."

Goldenrod City was the most prosperous city in Johto. This was in fact not a branch but the main Headquarters for the Pokemon Alliance for the Johto region. Just as the main Headquarters for the Pokemon Alliance in Kanto was located in Celedon City.

"Goldenrod City? Alright." Roy rubbed his chin and nodded. As long as he could get the Eviolite, it would raise Porygon's defenses greatly during battle.

"Okay, I can't put the order in now until you've received your Identification. I'll go grab your Eviolite—give me a second." Once Roy's identification was made, he could send this request in.

The old man turned and quickly disappeared into the back. There appeared to be some storage room within this stall.

Roy simply waited, his process probably took longer than everyone else's. By this point, the 6th through 10th contestants were starting to make an appearance.

"Here you go, this is the item you're looking for, check it out." The old man opened his hand to reveal a stone that was two times the size of a marble.

The Eviolite was Violet with a bit of Magenta weaving through it. Roy's eyes could see the incredible amount of aura contained within—almost threatening to burst out.

Roy evaluated its description.

"This is good, this will do." Roy held the Eviolite, it was warm and comfortable to the touch. This item would be good to use for every generation he entered.

This item was expensive, so the Pokemon Alliance was really going out. However, it made sense, only a few people would be chosen as winners of the tournament, so it wasn't like they were giving these out to a lot of people.

"You're all set...Roy. Just walked down there and you'll see and man. There will be a man down there who will give you your Pokedex." The old man paused before looking back at the computer screen to say Roy's name, clearly, he had forgotten at that moment.

"Okay, thanks." Roy placed his Eviolite into his spatial Backpack with his Porygon. Afterward, he quickly went down the hall.

When Roy looked back, he saw that Ripley had stepped up to the stall and started talking to the old man.

"Kid, right this way. Take a look, we have different colored Pokedexes for you to choose from." The man was standing behind a desk down the hall. He pointed toward a long table filled with several colored Pokedexes that Roy could choose from.

There were many different color combinations. The color combinations sometimes didn't even match the corresponding colored pair, who would want these? This type of Pokedex or model; was the standard for Johto and Kanto.

As for places like Unova, their 'Pokedexes' were different to the point where they had different names and looks. They were known as the Xtransceiver, which looked similar to a wristwatch.

"I'll take this one, the black and white one will do." Roy's eyes brightened and he made his decision.

This Pokedex was black and white—with the buttons inside being all white. Once Roy picked up the Pokedex, it was smooth to the touch. It was smooth like an iPhone and Galaxy phone back in his world, of course, this depended on the model.

"Alright, it's yours. We'll register your name to it and give you your Identification. You can also slide your identification card into the bottom of your Pokedex. This will allow you easily check your balance when it comes to income."

The man slowly explained, and that's when Roy looked at the bottom of Pokedex. There he saw where he could slide his card into. It reminded him of a card chip reader, but it could be slid into the Pokedex completely.

Of course, the man went on to explain that he would need to put in a special pin. This was in order to check his income and points; points from the Alliance and money in general.

"Any questions?" After the man was done explaining, he asked Roy.

"Nope, I completely understand."

"Alright, right this way, you should be able to receive your Id right now." The man pointed to the door, signaling Roy to go through it.

"Thanks for the help, you're much appreciated." Roy gave the man a nod before walking through.

"No problem kid, no problem." The man muttered to himself. Right then, a girl could be seen coming down the hall.

Roy went through the door and spotted everyone from the one to four placement sitting in a lobby. In this lobby was a long counter, where a woman was standing behind.

"Oh, you must be number five, right? Is your name Roy?" The woman stood up and waved Roy over. Of course, she had a picture of Roy, so she was just asking this for extra assurance.

"That's me." Roy gave a simple reply.

"Alright, here's your identification card. Hand me your Pokedex so I can register it—you will be given a contact number as well." The woman handed Roy his new Identification card, while he handed over his Pokedex.

"Nice colors." The woman nodded and complimented when she saw Roy's Pokedex decision.

Roy only smiled in reply before inspecting his new Id. Like the standard Id, it had his face plastered on it. The whole card had the coloration of an American Penny, which was that of a brand-new copper coin.
