Kanto Power Plant

(Route 9, Pokémon Centre.)

After finishing his meal, Noah waited for Nurse Joy to finish examining his Pokémon before he continued along his journey. He had originally wanted to head straight over to Vermillion City after receiving the S.S. Anne ticket, but after several moments of deliberation, he decided to head over to the Power Plant on Route 10.

He did this for two specific reasons; first, he wanted to find a Magnemite or a member of its evolution line to obtain a Metal Coat – a special metallic film – for his Scyther and secondly, he wanted to find a suitable Electric-type Pokémon for his team.

As Noah continued to wait, a familiar vibration ran through his left arm. Looking down at this PokeNav, Noah saw that someone was calling him but there was no caller ID listed – this meant that someone was contacting him from a local line rather than a personal one.

Noah's brows furrowed for a moment before he answered the call.

"Hello?"

"Ah, is this Noah?"

"Yes, it is and you are?"

"It's me, Leaf. I wanted to call you earlier but I kind of forgot… Anyway, where are you now? I've just reached Saffron City."

"I'm on Route 9 at the moment. I wanted to check out the Power Plant and then head to Lavender Town."

"Lavender Town? I plan to head there in a few days, do you want to meet up then?"

"Sure, I should be there in a couple of days."

"Great! I've got to go now but I'll see you soon, Noah."

"Yea, see–"

The line cut before Noah could finish his greetings, he shook his head and took out his Pokedex to browse through its encyclopaedia. It was a wonder at how something so small could store that much data, but he figured that if it was possible in his previous world then it would be possible here.

After half-an-hour, he heard the melodious voice of Nurse Joy through the intercom. "Mr Oak, your Pokémon are fully healed and are ready to go."

Noah stood up and made his way to the main desk and collected his Pokeballs. He thanked her and made his way to the Power Plant.

(Route 10, Power Plant.)

Noah entered the Power Plant and found the place devoid of workers, he had assumed that most of them had returned home due to it being so late into the afternoon and continued his stroll through the plant.

After walking for a few minutes, Noah had met the Pokémon he had been looking for – Magnemite. It floated aimlessly above him whilst emitting a quiet sound of static, Noah observed it for a moment and found no metallic film present on its body. Seeing that it didn't have the item he was looking for, Noah opted to ignore the Pokémon and walked further into the building.

Along the way, he found that the Pokémon in the plant tend to avoid battling when they can which was something he appreciated, given the weakness his team shares for Electric-type Pokémon. He had already met several more Magnemite's – none of which held a Metal Coat, a few Voltorb's and even a herd of Elekid's lead by a fully grown Electabuzz.

After walking around for an entire hour, Noah had finally encountered a Pokémon that held the Metal Coat. However, it was held by a wandering Magneton.

Noah took a step back to assess the situation and ordered Shelgon to not make any sudden or unnecessary movements.

Magneton's typing offered it a major advantage against his team. If it wasn't for Shelgon's Ember or Scyther's Vacuum Wave, he would've walked away from it and continued his search elsewhere.

Noah released Scyther and spoke to both of his Pokémon, "Given the disadvantage we face, I've decided to let both of you battle Magneton together. Shelgon, you're the vanguard in this battle and Scyther, you are to offer support through long-range attacks."

"Shee!/Scyy!" Both his Pokémon cried out in approval.

"Good! Shelgon, surprise it with Ember and Scyther, use this opportunity to get behind it unnoticed." Noah ordered.

Shelgon gathered a swirling ball of fire in his mouth before firing it at the unsuspecting Magneton. As the move made contact, the Steel-type Pokémon was sent floating back through the air as it cried out in pain.

In the meantime, Scyther had snuck past Magneton and silently floated several meters away from it, waiting patiently for further instructions.

Magneton steadied itself and turned to glare at the perpetrator. Its magnets glowed white as it sent a large shockwave at Shelgon, sending him crashing into the wall behind Noah.

As Shelgon struggled to get back up, Noah heard the eerie sound of static and turned to see Magneton preparing itself to send an electric attack at them.

"Scyther, intercept with Vacuum Wave!" Noah roared and hurriedly took out a Pokeball in the case they needed time to escape.

"Scyy!!" Scyther screeched as he waved his scythes around, causing a light-blue wind to appear around them. He then crossed his scythes and opened them, firing the wind in the form of a shock-wave at the distracted Magneton.

Magneton turned to face the direction of the screech but was met with a powerful shock-wave colliding against its body, sending it crashing into the ground.

"Shelgon, send another Ember while it's still down!" Noah ordered in relief as he put away the Pokeball.

"Shee!!" Shelgon roared as he sent another fireball at the downed opponent, eliciting another cry from it.

"I guess this is a better time as any to capture it," Noah mumbled as he took out a Great Ball and threw it at the partially charred Magneton. 'I hope not damaging it too much would let it have a somewhat favourable opinion of us…'

The Great Ball sucked Magneton in a beam of red light and shook several times before it clicked. Noah let out a breath he didn't know he was holding and made his way to collect the newest addition to his team.

"Shelgon, come and stand beside me," Noah said to his started before looking to Scyther. "Be ready to send another Vacuum Wave should it look like Magneton will attack."

"Shee!/Scyy!" Both his Pokémon cried out before they got into their respective roles.

Noah took a step back and released Magneton. As it materialized, it looked around and sent a glare to Shelgon but otherwise, remained rather docile. However, as it set its eyes on Noah, faint traces of electricity appeared on its magnets, causing his Pokémon to enter a defensive stance.

"Hello there, Magneton. I'm Noah." Noah introduced himself in an open and friendly way before gesturing to his two other Pokémon. "And these two are Shelgon and Scyther."

"Netonn." Magneton continued to stare at Noah but the electricity around its magnets decreased ever so slightly.

"I know the method which I used to battle you was unfair but you have to understand, you were more than strong enough to take on Shelgon and Scyther should they have battled you individually," Noah said slowly to make sure his new teammate understood the situation.

"Magnettonn!" Magneton cried out in what seemed to be pride and satisfaction?

"As you already know, I captured you but I'd like to give you a choice. Are you willing to accompany us in our journey across the world or would you like for me to release you?" Noah asked in a calm and levelled manner.

"Netonnnn." Magneton vocalized as it began to slowly spin around. After several seconds, it looked back at Noah and beamed at him as it nodded.

Noah was taken back at its approval and couldn't help but think it was messing around with him but seeing its expression, he couldn't help but think. 'This guy must love being complimented…'

"Welcome to the team, Magneton." Noah smiled widely as he gestured for Shelgon and Scyther to approached talk to it. He took this moment to scan his newest teammate with the Pokedex.

[Magneton, the Magnet Pokémon. Magneton emits a powerful magnetic force that is fatal to electronics and precision instruments. Because of this, it is said that some towns warn people to keep this Pokémon inside a Pokeball.

This Magneton is genderless and knows the moves: Tackle, Supersonic, Thunder Wave, Magnet Bomb, Sonic Boom, Light Screen and Thunderbolt. Its ability is Analytic, which boosts move power when the Pokémon moves after the target.]

'Good, this should cover the team's weakness to electricity.' Noah thought as he put the Pokedex back into his pocket and approached the Magneton.

"Magneton, I'll introduce you to the rest of the team once we're outside but for now, lets fix you up." Noah said as he took out a Burn Heal and sprayed it across the charred areas. "That should do it for now but we'll head back to the Pokémon Centre later to make sure you don't have any hidden injuries."

"Neton." Magneton nodded in gratitude.

"Now then, would you mind if I take that metallic film from you?" Noah asked hesitantly as he wasn't sure how it would respond.

"Magnetonn?" Magneton tilted its heads for a moment before it shook it.

"Thank you," Noah said sincerely as he slowly took the metallic film off of its body. He then looked to Scyther and grinned widely. "Alright buddy, are you ready to evolve?"

"SCY!!" Scyther's eyes flashed in anticipation as it eagerly nodded.

"Wonderful!" Noah exclaimed as he draped the Metal Coat over Scyther's body, causing it to erupt in a flash of white light.

Noah and his team backed away in wonder as they watched Scyther's evolution. The torrent of emotions he had felt before had returned and as he did with Shelgon, he made sure to watch every bit of the evolution.

It wasn't long before the light died down and what stood in front of Noah was a bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a red, metallic exoskeleton. Its body consisted of three main parts: the torso, the abdomen and the head. Its head was kite-shaped with three blunt horns extending above its forehead, and dark yellow eyes. It stood on two legs and a pair of small grey wings on its back – this was the evolution of his third Pokémon, Scizor.

Scizor's eyes looked around its body in wonder before they landed on Noah, the gratitude and respect they held within them were indescribable. Noah saw this and gave him a smile before making his way to him.

"How do you feel? Is there anything wrong?" Noah asked as he anxiously examined Scizor's body.

"Zor." Scizor shook his head before he hooked his arm around Noah's body and brought him into a hug. "Zor, or, scizor."

Although Noah couldn't understand him, he understood what it was trying to portray. Breaking away from the hug, Noah looked at Scizor and said. "There's no need for that here. You trusted me back then to guide you and I'm merely returning that very trust."

"Zorr!" Scizor nodded enthusiastically.

"Gonn, on, Shel!/Netonn, tonn!" Shelgon and Magneton swarmed Scizor.

Noah took a step back and scanned his newly evolved Pokémon.

[Scizor, the Pincer Pokémon. Scizor has a body with the hardness of steel. It is not easily fazed by ordinary sorts of attacks. This Pokémon flaps its wings to regulate its body temperature.

This Scizor is male and knows the moves: Quick Attack, Vacuum Wave, Sword Dance, Pursuit, Agility, Slash, Bullet Punch and Iron Defence. Its ability is Technician, which increases the power of moves that are usually low in base power.]

'Scizor's evolution solved the majority of his weaknesses. His attack and defence have increased but his speed would have decreased given the mass of his metallic body.' Noah thought before he looked at the trio in front of him. "Alright, let's head back to the Pokémon Centre and get a good nights rest."

"She!/Zor!/Ton!" His Pokémon cried out and led followed along whilst talking to each other excitedly.

Wohoo!! 10th Chapter!!!

I didn't plan to capture a Magneton but as I wrote, I realised the blatant weakness in Noah's team. The next stop is Lavender Town, I have something in mind for it but I'm not sure if I can execute it correctly...

As always, thank you for reading and commenting. I hope you all have a great day and I'll see you next time ^^
