4 Base Camp

Stacy pauses for a moment and looks at all the eggs with a flushed face. Stretching out her hand only to bring it back due to hesitation. It takes a few seconds before she locks her eyes on a single light brown egg with red patterns.

After picking up an egg, she turns towards her friends and waves before walking out the door.

Seeing that she chose a Vulpix with light green qualifications he doesn't know if she has good or bad luck. While Roy thinks of what her reaction will be when she finds out she needs a Fire Stone, the next name is called.

"Next is Marcus."

A boy with short light brown hair and a sunny smile walks straight up to the cart after whispering to his friends. Without wasting much time he grabs a Shroomish egg with light green qualifications.

More and more go up to pick their eggs, some get lucky and pick out ones with blue qualifications and some pick those with yellow.

Meghan's luck was better, picking a Bounsweet with Light Blue qualifications. Charles picked a male Nidoran with Dark Green qualifications. It even had the hidden feature Hustle and knew the genetic moves Confusion and Sucker Punch.

The luckiest is Kevin who picked an Ekans with blue qualifications.

"Roy."

Hearing his name, he rises to his feet and walks towards the cart. Only twenty-one eggs remain when it arrives at his turn. His eyes quickly glance over them without much expectation.

He pauses on a Hoothoot with light blue qualifications and Tinted Lens hidden ability, but soon another egg catches his eye. Even though the egg has the same brown and green pattern as the Seedot next to it, the contents are completely different.

Pokemon: Ditto

Ability: Imposter

Attribute: Normal

Qualification: Light Green

Strength: Egg (13 Hours)

Race value: 288 (48, 48, 48, 48, 48, 48)

Skills: Transform

Seeing a Ditto with its hidden ability, he doesn't think twice. Without making too much of a fuss, he grabs the egg and doesn't look back. Walking out the room, he can hardly hide the smile on his face.

The moment he leaves the room his phone buzzes. Pulling it out he receives a message from Meghan saying they are waiting by the gate. Placing the phone back into his pocket he heads for the exit of the school.

Walking outside, he sees a small crowd of people from all three classes huddled into different groups and talking about their summer plans.

"When the egg hatches we have to go to a battle club and have a match!"

"I hope mine is a fighting type so we can hit the gym."

Hearing the various conversations he walks past and heads for the gate of the school. "Town trainer schools can barely qualify you to cross the starting line. Only those who can progress from here have a future." Thinking about what he saw online yesterday he can't help mumbling to himself.

Every child goes to a regular school until the age of 15. After graduating, they have a chance to enter a trainer school in the town and graduate at 17. The three frontier cities are vastly different. To live in the frontier city you have to have an Elite trainer in your family. Kids in the city start trainer school at the age of 10 and become official trainers at the age of 13 where they can legally own pokemon.

Kids in the city have trained their pokemon for years compared to new trainers from towns or villages. After receiving their pokemon they can train them for four years before reaching college age.

With those advantages piled up, it's hard for those from towns to enter one of the three colleges.

Even with all those setbacks, he's not afraid of being worse than others. The new generation has only been trainers for ten years.

Leaving the school gate he sees Meghan and Charles waiting for him. Smiling slightly he walks next to them. "I've decided I want to become a researcher."

"Researcher?" Charles's brows rise for a moment before smirking slightly. "Given up competing with me for becoming the strongest trainer?"

The three begin walking towards their homes holding their eggs. "We know too little about Pokemon. I think a field researcher is more in line with what I want to do." Shaking his head slightly, he can't help but sigh.

"So you're going to try and enter Omega College? They are known for their research." Meghan chimed in after hearing Roy's goal.

"No, I want to go to Gamma college who specializes in nurturing, that way the research department will be smaller and more focused."

"You aren't going to enter Alpha College with Meghan and I?" Charles raises his brows and looks at Roy strangely. "What are your plans over the summer? Any plans on training your pokemon?"

"Summer vacation is three months. Most of the dangerous Pokemon have been cleared out the triangular zone and it's relatively safe. I'll spend the rest of June doing some basic training, I plan on using July and August for field training and return in September before school starts." Counting on his fingers he plans out his entire summer break.

"Is that safe?" Glancing sideways, Meghan can't help but frown before her face returns to normal. "Nevermind, I wish you success."

Charles's eyes light up and he pats Roy's shoulders. "Buddy I knew you would accomplish great things, I wish you success."

"Thanks." Seeing their eyes glancing at each other, he knows what they're thinking but doesn't dwell on it.

Arriving at their houses, they separate towards their own homes. Walking inside, he locks the door and moves to his room. Placing the Ditto egg on the bed, he takes the other two eggs out his system backpack and places them down as well.

The timer on both eggs is set to hatch in five hours. Seeing this, he leaves the room and heads for the basement. The basement of the house wasn't built with the house, but was dug by his parent's Pokemon.

In what used to be a dining room, there's a large hole dug diagonally into the ground with small stairs and wires running along the ceiling.

Walking down, he flips a switch placed on the wall and lights up the tunnel. Going down, the path begins to wind as he gets deeper underground. After walking for a minute he arrives at the exit of the tunnel.

Glancing around he sees a large open space for exercising Pokemon. Without looking at most of the targets and weights, he moves towards the generator in the corner.

A four-foot-tall generator with electric batteries built after the advent of Pokemon. Using electric moves you can charge the batteries and provide power. There is also a treadmill attached that allows one to provide power by running.

"Nice, I can use this as a cornerstone of my base. Before that, let's transfer all this equipment." Opening a rift, he begins moving all the target practice equipment and weights.

Finally, he unplugs all the cords to the generator which causes the lights to go out. Carefully, he moves the generator and treadmill into the Secret Realm.

Roy pushes the generator towards the bottom left corner opposite the location he planted the berries.

All the training equipment is moved to a different corner, he sets up the treadmill. After running the wire across the ground and connecting it to the generator, he nods his head and leaves.

Heading back up the tunnel, he moves towards the kitchen. Taking every jug and pot that's left, he fills them with water and stores them in his system backpack.

After testing it out and realizing that time still flows inside of his system backpack, he decides to move the microwave, fridge, and stove inside of his Secret Realm for when he travels.

Unplugging the fridge he opens the rift and struggles to move it inside. After nearly ten minutes of wobbling it inside, he plugs it into the generator.

Glancing at the generator he sees that the power is still at 23%. Leaving, he spends the next twenty minutes moving the electric stove and microwave. Moving back to the kitchen, he begins emptying the pantry into his backpack and finally finishes his project in the kitchen.

Walking up the stairs, he arrives at his old room and begins moving the bed, nightstands, tables, and lamps into the secret realm. After two hours he has everything moved and begins arranging everything so he can properly live inside. After spending another hour, everything is finally set up.

"Next I'll have to make a house. If I had some trees that would be nice, but maybe I can make it adobe-style?" Looking at the large open space in the center a smile forms on his face. "I'll need to make a lot of bricks." Shaking his head, he opens a rift and leaves.

With everything done, he returns to his room and sits in a chair facing the eggs. After waiting a while he sees that the countdown has dropped to the last few minutes.
