Chapter 9 Angry Magikarp!

The next morning, as Hu Yang was finishing his morning routine, he heard a knock at the door. Upon opening it, he found the female teacher, Rika, who had shown him to his dormitory the previous day. She appeared youthful and full of energy, seemingly around eighteen years old.

Hu Yang invited her inside, and Rika, taking notice of Cramorant still in a state of Rest, inquired, "Is that little one your Pokémon?"

Hu Yang nodded with a smile, "Yes."

Rika looked around the room and remarked, "I haven't seen a Pokémon like that before, but since you have a Pokémon, it should be fine."

However, Rika wasn't here for casual conversation. She placed some books on the table and explained her previous statement, "Because we have many teachers in our school. I used to be a traveling trainer and had no teaching experience before joining the profession. So, before we start teaching, we're introduced to what we need to pay attention to."

She went on to clarify, "Trainers don't travel for a lifetime. After retiring, many take up various occupations based on their interests."

Hu Yang was aware of this fact.

Rika continued, "These books are for you. Next, I'll introduce the main courses at our school."

"Thank you," Hu Yang expressed his gratitude.

Rika, raising an eyebrow curiously, shared, "In our school, apart from basic literacy and math courses, we have four primary courses related to Pokémon."

"The first one is the Pokémon Type class, which covers the mutual strengths and weaknesses of Pokémon with different types."

"The second is the Pokémon Moves class. This course introduces various moves Pokémon can learn and their effects. It also includes move demonstrations, where teachers can use their Pokémon to showcase different moves to enhance student's understanding."

Hu Yang grasped the concept, understanding that he could use Cramorant to demonstrate its moves in front of the students. He couldn't help but envision Cramorant using moves like Origin Pulse in front of a class.

"The third is the Pokémon Ecology class," Rika continued. "In this course, we delve into the habits of Pokémon and their primary natural habitats."

"The fourth is the Pokémon Abilities class. Here, students learn about Pokémon Abilities and their various effects."

Hu Yang inquired, "Which course will I primarily teach?" He believed he could handle any of these courses except the Ecology class.

However, Rika didn't follow conventional expectations as she replied, "Currently, we lack a teacher for the Pokémon Ecology class."

Hu Yang's reaction was...speechless.

Rika continued, "After approval from the school committee, we've decided to assign you to teach the second grade class."

Hu Yang: "..."

"So, can you do it?" Rika asked.

Hu Yang hesitated for a moment. "I don't know much about Pokémon ecology."

Ecology wasn't part of the games developed by the Pokémon Company, and the ecological aspects in the animated series were somewhat supplementary.

Rika reassured him, "That's okay. Even other teachers don't know everything. After all, there are still many mysteries in the Pokémon world. We've prepared teaching materials for you to follow."

Hu Yang relaxed, saying, "That's good."

After Rika's explanation, she got up to leave. Hu Yang escorted her to the door. Just as she was about to leave, she turned back and added, "There's one more thing. Behind the school is Petalburg Woods. It's teeming with wild Pokémon, and the Pokémon on the outskirts are usually friendly toward humans. Just avoid going too deep into the woods."

Hu Yang, who had recently come out of Petalburg Woods, didn't plan on returning to the place where he shed tears so soon. Nonetheless, he thanked Rika for the information, saying, "Thank you, I'll keep that in mind."

Rika left.

Hu Yang had some time to spare and checked the time.

8:37 AM.

Cramorant was still in a state of Rest. Hu Yang glanced at it before turning his attention to the books Rika had brought. He decided to review the material. Combining the information from his previous life's experiences and the content in the books, he prepared a lesson plan.

8:50 AM.

Cramorant woke up and flew out of the open window, flapping its wings.

Hu Yang had fully immersed himself in studying the teaching materials provided by the Pokemon Alliance. There were many aspects of Pokémon ecology he was unfamiliar with, such as the Caterpie's remarkably short growth cycle of just about a month, making it an excellent choice as a companion for rookie trainers due to its ease of capture and rapid growth.

Another intriguing piece of information was about Swellow. It was said that Swellow would leave its nest on dark, stormy nights to soar in thunderstorms, which some scholars believed to be a form of exercise.

These Pokémon secrets had Hu Yang engrossed, but his concentration was suddenly broken when a lively Magikarp was tossed in front of him.

Cramorant immediately lunged for the Magikarp, preventing it from using Struggle.

Hu Yang: "..."

He looked at the unfortunate Magikarp and, with a sense of pity, rescued it from Cramorant's grasp.

"It's all bones, you can't eat it," Hu Yang poked the Magikarp, remembering that Magikarp was known to consist mainly of scales and bones, making it inedible.

He recalled an incident from the anime where the Team Rocket trio, along with Ash and his friends, were stranded at sea and too hungry to resist the urge to eat Magikarp. Meowth was unable to bite into it, so James, in a fit of rage, kicked Magikarp back into the sea. Subsequently, Magikarp evolved into Gyarados out of sheer anger and sought revenge on the entire group.

Cramorant didn't seem to comprehend Hu Yang's words, and Hu Yang sighed helplessly. He picked up Cramorant and placed Magikarp into a plastic bucket filled with water, intending to release it.

However, he recalled what Rika had mentioned about showcasing Pokémon moves. So, he decided to try modifying Cramorant's moves using the Modifier's move modification function.

As he opened the list of available moves, an unexpected message appeared in his mind: "The move is Locked On and cannot be modified."

Hu Yang was perplexed. Why couldn't he change Cramorant's moves?

He turned his attention to the Magikarp in the bucket.
