313 Pokemon master of tactics: Chapter 313
Usually, only between 200 and 300 Trainers take part in the Kanto Champion Tournament each year, which makes the participants number even smaller than of the Kanto Rookie Tournament.
Alex knew, however, that the main reason for this small number is not the unpopularity but that the requirement for this Tournament is too high for most Trainers.
Only a small percentage of all active Trainers are Elite-level Trainers and the general number of Elite-level Trainers is moderately small.
Several thousand Elite-level trainers are not a large number when one considers that Kanto has a population of more than 10 million residents.
Apart from the fact that participants also need a better strength than a normal elite level trainer to be able to collect two A-rank gym badges.
Although only half as many Trainers take part in the Kanto Champion tournament than in the Kanto Rookie tournament, is even "the trash" in this Tournament stronger than most of the Champions from the Kanto Rookie tournament. Only the absolute Elite are allowed to take part in this Tournament.
Alex looked at the number of participants and saw that only 212 participants were taking part in this Tournament.
That means that there will only be two preliminary rounds and that even a few lucky participants only need to have one fight in the preliminary rounds.
He went to the tournament tree to see who he has to fight tomorrow.

Alex saw that his first opponent wasn't really strong and he showed a slightly disappointing expression.
Although 4 Elite-level Pokemon, where one of them at level 46, can be described as very strong for most people, it is in this tournament only "Trash" that cannot survive the preliminary rounds.
None of Alex's Pokemon would have problems winning against even the strongest of this opponent's Pokemon.
Even Bastiodon with his [Rock slide] on the Expert rank and his three-level advantage would win easily.
As Alex thought about it, he noticed how his Pokémon were done with their daily training and that they started doing other things.
Especially Ditto, who started playing the most chess of all Pokemon, started walking towards Gardevoir.
Ditto got better at chess and was now so good that he was the third-best chess player in the group. Only Alex and Gardevoir were better than him.
He often challenged the two of them, but never managed to defeat either of them. But he never gave up and kept almost every day trying.
That was one of the reasons why Ditto went from the worst chess player in Alex's group to the third best.
Alex also believed that after a few months Ditto would even play better than him.
Although he saw no hope that Ditto could beat Gardevoir. Alex still remembers how he lost to Gardevoir even though she learned this game on the same day. She is in a completely different league.
Alex watched as Ditto played tirelessly against Gardevoir and showed no signs of giving up in these one-sided games either.
After everyone had spent a bit of time with their hobby, Alex and his Pokemon started to go to sleep.

Saffron City Arena
Alex sat in the waiting room for the participants for the C block and waited for his turn.
After 10 minutes, Alex saw his number on the screen.
He went in the direction of the C block section in the Arena with his participant number and ID card. As he entered the Arena, he saw several Trainers fighting in different blocks.
Saffron City Arena was a massive Arena encircled by countless spectator seats. It was very similar to the arena in the Kanto Rookie tournament and mainly differed in being much larger.
But it feels very different to Alex. He couldn't quite explain it, but this arena felt special.
Maybe because the most important event in all of Kanto takes place here or because of the enormous size, but Alex was very impressed when he looked around.
Although the spectator seats are empty because the tournament has not yet started, this arena was really spectacular.
Alex went to the C block and he immediately saw the C-block referee standing there.
He showed his number and ID card to the referee and waited together with the referee for his opponent.
After only 2 minutes, a relatively young man came in front of Alex and the referee with the participant number, 199.
Alex looked at the man and saw nothing special except that the man looked like he was around 25 years old.
This young man also seemed to know the strength of Alex's Pokémon and showed a serious expression the whole time.
He knew that he didn't have a big chance but he came anyway because the difference between 3 levels or 4 levels is not impossible to beat if the fight runs optimally. Also, even if he doesn't win, his Pokémon can gain valuable experience.
The referee made a hand gesture to indicate that both participants should call out their Pokémon.
Alex took a Pokeball and the young man did the same thing.
Bastiodon and Charizard appeared in the arena at the same time.

Alex noticed immediately that this Trainer values more, that his Pokemon can do one or two moves exceptionally well, than that his Pokemon can do several different moves well.
He didn't think it was wrong, but in this Fight, it made Charizard's chance of victory worse.
both of Charizard's two Master-rank moves against Bastiodon are ineffective, and that makes that both moves do less damage than [Flamethrower] on the Expert rank.
That means that Charizard does not have flexibility (many [E] moves) or the specific Power that he should have, against Bastiodon.
