55 Chapter 55

She had only known Jord a bit over a week, but she was pretty well aware he wasn't the type to wait to make him disappear, nor would she want him to go that far.

But the kind of pay back Jord would give him? That was liable to get Jord in trouble himself and blemish his record as trainer.

She wasn't going to let that happen to a friend because of some little bastard like this.

The slender dark skinned boy snorted at her words, finally paying someone besides the pokeball in his hand some attention, "Who cares? He was too busy praising his pokemon like an idiot to catch it. It's his own fault," he shrugged uncaringly, "Imagine wasting your time battling a pokemon." he snorted.

At his words, there was a cacophony of angered shouts coming from the crowd and she saw Jord's eyes narrow in absolute fury, his lips pulling back in a snarl that reminded her of a Houndoom she had seen once, his canine teeth bared.

Considering he strong she knew he was and the fact he was built like a miniature tank a this point. It was actually quite scary and she was just glad it was not directed at her.

And this guy, not only did the anger of those watching not bother him, he was totally oblivious to the utter rage on Jord's face.

This would not end well.

Hilda wasn't really thinking at this point. She just acted.

The boy cried out in pain as she headbutted him and he dropped the pokeball falling to the ground and giving a squeal of pain. Her head throbbed with pain and she could practically see stars and Swablu floating about her vision.

She did make out Jord's fury disappearing as he gaped at her sudden action, surprised that she would do it.

So was she actually.

"W-what was that for!?" the boy screamed clutching his nose where she hit him, tears in his eyes as he glared up at her, blood pouring from between his fingers.

"...Oops, I slipped, sorry about that," Hilda forced a grin on her face and then a thought came to mind and her hand went to her belt and she made a show of 'swaying' to the side and pressing the button on the pokeball, "Oh no, oops!" she faked a gasp of surprise as a huge burst of light erupted on the pokeball.

And her Emboar's large muscular foot came down on the pokeball containing Krabby and smashed it to pieces. As it did, bright blue light erupted from the remains and reformed into Krabby laying snoozing away in the sand beside Emboar.

"Boar, bo!" Emboar 'sheepishly scratched the back of her head and bowed in apology to the slender dark skinned thieving little rodent.

Their experience as actors really came in handy here.

The boy trembled in the sand before jumping to his feet and his free hand going to his belt where a single pokeball lay connected, "You thief!" he snarled nasally, "You did that on purpose!"

"No I didn't, I just slipped, everyone saw it," Hilda shrugged, ignoring the throbbing pain in her forehead, "Where's your proof I did it on purpose, and who are you calling a thief when you're one yourself you little bug!?" she snarled right back.

"Yeah, it was an honest mistake ya little brat!" the father from before called out, "And she's apologised already, so just be a man at least in attitude, since it's not like ya' look like one!"

The dark skinned boy trembled in spot before he tossed his pokeball in the air, "Raboot, get her!" he ordered as the pokeball burst open and released the pokemon within.

The light formed into a small red and black bipedal rabbit-like pokemon she'd never seen before, looking like it was wearing clothing with a high collar that came up to cover its lower mouth. She'd heard the name though, back at the trainer school in Unova.

One of the Galar starter pokemon.

It cast a glance at its trainer as soon as it appeared, before snorting and crossing its arms and looking away, promptly ignoring him.

The slender boy faltered, "W-wait, why won't you listen to me! I let you be my starter like you wanted! So listen to me!" he shouted at the pokemon.

It continued ignoring him.

Hilda's mouth had dropped open though. Did this kid seriously just try to have his pokemon attack her!?

What was wrong with this idiot?

He opened his mouth to say something else, but all that escaped was a sharp squeal of pain as a hand suddenly landed on his shoulder and squeezed. Hard.

Hilda winced at the sound that escaped the boys mouth and behind him she could see Jord with a very scary, very forced grin on his face and Milotic looming over him with death in her expression.

"So not only did you steal my Krabby, you also just tried to attack my friend, is that right?" he ground out, and then suddenly pulled without waiting for an answer.

The dark skin boy yelped as he was pulled backwards as if he weighed the same as a feather and tossed backwards into the sand, the Raboot's pokeball in his hand tumbling free through the air.

Straight into Jord's awaiting hand who walked right through the boys previous position and marched straight over to the snoozing Krabby, a purpose in his step and touched an empty pokeball in his other hand to Krabby's sleeping form.

The pokeball burst open and sucked Krabby inside and within moments, Krabby was captured, this time by its proper trainer.

And the crowd of people erupted into cheers while the Raboot looked over its shoulder curiously at Jord holding its pokeball. And apparently not at all caring what happened to its trainer.

Okay, Hilda would admit. That was smooth.
