Episode 4: Arriving in Kanto and Pallet Town

After packing up all that I owned I went to the harbour to wait for the ship that would take me to Kanto. I had to wait three hours before I could finally leave the Conoh Region, it's surreal finally leaving the place you grew up and to leave it. I'll be back one day, I just don't know when I will be. The entire boat ride was uneventful and quite boring with next to no entertainment.

After a grewling twelve day boat ride I'm finally in the Kanto Region and I seem to be on an island call Cinnabar. I had to go through a lot of people just to get to my inn, it seems this place is a vacation spot or something. I realized after getting into my room is that I have no way to get to Pallet Town where Professor Oak is. After looking through the system shop I found what I might just need.

TM 94: Surf

==================

This seemed to be the most useful at this time, so I bought it and taught it to Aqua. I then bought some swimming clothes from the shop as well for 150 SP. In total I spent 24,700 SP. After sorting all that out I decided to take a bath then go to bed.

The next morning I went to the dock and brought Aqua out. I usually keep my pokemon out just not in this kind of area were I can't keep a look out for them. I had Aqua use Surf and then rode her to the Town of Pallet. It took us a whole day to reach Pallet Town, and unlike the town I grew up in, did it have a name, this place looked like a peaceful place without any fear of pokemon raids. I guess that's the difference between a Civil Region and a Region still at war with the native pokemon.

As I walked around this rural looking town I realized that there's no inn to stay at. There isn't even a pokemon center to rest in. In Conoh there's a pokemon center in every town no matter how big or small. So I guess camping out it is as it being night time doesn't really help me much with finding a suitable place to sleep.

After looking around for a bit I caught some pokemon that I've never seen before their names are Hoothoot, Spinarak, Ledyba, Wurmple, Pineco, and Zigzagoon. They looked pretty weak and that's probably because pokemon tend to be stronger in areas with little to no human presence. I named them Talon, Smile, Fists, Bug Thing, Pinecone, and Ziggy, I don't have the most creative naming sense. I found a small open field and set up camp and made some food for my pokemon then went to sleep.

Waking up in the morning I talked to a few people on where Professor Oak's lab is. After finding it I went and knocked on the door and heard an old, yet energetic voice calling back to me.

???: I'm coming just wait.

When the door was opened in front of me stood a legendary trainer that everyone knew. He had dull brown-grey hair a pair of black coloured eyes. He was wearing a red dress shirt that was tucked into his light-brown pants with a lab coat over top of it. His name is Samuel Oak aka Professor Oak.

His face was full of confusion when he saw me and I can guess why.

Pr. Oak: Well I don't think I've ever met you now have I.

Grey: No sir we've never met. I was told by my teacher, that when I arrive in Kanto to go to you to register as a pokemon trainer.

Pr. Oak: Your teacher? Just who is your teacher?

Grey: His name is Mr. Burns.

I didn't know my teachers full name because I barely could stay awake in those boring classes.

Pr. Oak: Ahh Burns, I remember him. So he's still alive after being stupid enough to take on the Battle Trainer challenge. Anyways enough of that come in, it'll only be for a few minutes.

Going into his lab I saw a lot of papers stacked up and real hi-tech machinery.

Pr. Oak: Oh!! I nearly forgot to ask your name and trainer classification.

Grey: My name is Grey, just Grey. And my trainer class is Battle Trainer.

Pr. Oak: Ahh, yet another crazy soul. Ah well make yourself at home Grey I go and register you into the Indigo League.

After he left to go register myself, I looked through the system shop and decided to buy new skills and items to help me. I bought an Old Rod, Good Rod, and Super Rod because it seems that the percentage chance to hook onto something was heavily dependant on rods. Also I bought 20 Potions, 15 Super Potions, 45 Pokeballs that are grey instead of the traditional red, Cooking skill, Swimming Skill, Basic Normal Guide, Basic Bug Guide, Basic Flying Guide, and a Conoh Machop for my pokemon. In total I spent a grand total of 1,152,750 SP, now I only have 322,180 SP left.

Pr. Oak came back very shortly after my big spending spree. He told me that I was now registered and handed me a small rectangular red box. He told me it was a Pokedex and would act as my bank card and ID, he also told me about his two grandsons and two other children that I should try to help if I could. I told him I would if I could, he said their names where Gary Oak, Blue Oak, Ash Ketchum, and Red Ketchum.

After that I left and thanked him for registering me and giving me a Pokedex. Now I thought of going straight to Viridian but decided against it to catch more pokemon and to train the ones I already have. So I went deep into the forest around Pallet Town hoping to encounter some more pokemon. After searching for a while I ran into a few different ones and caught them these are the ones I caught: Pidgey, Spearow, Caterpie, Weedle, Rattata, Sentret, Poochyena, Shinx, Plusle, and Minun. I then bought a Basic Dark Guide for Shinx, and Poochyena.

Now that our young hero has acquired a Pokedex and registered with the league what will he do about training his new pokemon and what about gym battles. Found out next time on Pokemon Grey's Adventure!!

This was fun to write. And to those who don't think those pokemon are around Pallet town in HGSS there are headbutt trees that allow you to get most of them or there on Route 1 except Zigzagoon I just wanted him to have it.

For Battle Trainers they can deposit their pokemon with the professor or they can just keep them on themselves.

Anyways, I hope you've enjoyed!!
