1 Ch 1

Jesse woke up to the sun staring down at him with its bright light through the open window. He used his hand to shield his eyes for a little while before finally giving up on getting more rest. Jesse sat up from his position and began to slowly move his body around as he started his daily routine. Once, he had finished changing from his pajamas to his new attire, he walked down the stairs to see his mom cooking a breakfast of eggs, bacon, and thinly sliced potatoes that are fried along with a few slices of sausage. He sat down at the dinner table next to his older brother Jonathan.

Jonathan was 7 years older than Jesse at 18 years of age. He had already begun his pokemon journey but decided to return to his home town to reenter into pokemon school to gain a better understanding of pokemon along with gaining an education so that he could get a good job because it turns out that living your life as technically a hobo, constantly traveling with no source of money other than tournaments and trainer battles, is not the most lucrative occupation to have. So, he returned home to find a stable job before he would eventually travel out again. Jonathan's starter pokemon, which was a Snivy that he had evolved into a Serperior over the course of his eight-year-long journey, sat next to him at the dinner table, eating Pokéblocks with a side of Aprijuice.

Jesse grabbed himself some lemonade from the pitcher at the center of the table before he began his meal. His brother said, "Good morning," before going back to his meal while checking his Xtransceiver for messages. After noticing a message from his friend from school, he quickly finishes his food before calling out to their mom, "Alright, I'm heading out mom!" Their mom Susan turned from her cooking to say goodbye before turning around to make sure the food doesn't get burned. Jonathan took his plate and cup and rinsed it in the sink before grabbing his bag and heading out the door.

Meanwhile, Jesse slowly eats his food while looking at his own Xtransceiver. Jesse likes reading stories, particularly light novels, and can normally be found reading whenever he has spare time or even if he doesn't. This led his grades to fall a bit but he didn't care. He thought, "as long as it's passing, right?"

Jesse checks the time on his Xtransceiver and realizes that it's already 8:30 and his first day working with the pokemon day-care man and his wife starts at 8:45! Jesse quickly scarfed down the food, making sure to take some sips of lemonade every so often so that he doesn't choke, before taking his own plate and cup to the sink to be washed.

He ran up the stairs to his room to grab his bag which held his sleeping starter that he had chosen from his birthday last year. He had chosen an Oshawatt and who was greatly distressed when it was shaken awake from his slumber when Jesse harshly grabbed his backpack. "Oops! Sorry, Oshawatt!" Jesse said concerned. Oshawatt just shook his head a little bit before hitting the shell on his chest and sticking his head up in a gesture to say it's ok, he's alright all the while saying "Osha! Oshawatt!" in a small voice.

Jesse stuck his Xtransciver into his pants pocket while grabbing his keys and stuffing them in the space in the front pocket that Oshawatt wasn't occupying. He almost dashed out of the room before remembered to take his wallet that held his pokemon trainer I.D and a couple of poké dollars. "Phew! that could have been bad!" The pokemon trainer I.D was required to verify his identity to the pokemon daycare man and without it, he wouldn't be allowed to work there.

Jesse rushed back down that stairs while yelling out to his mom, " I'm heading out! I'll be home before dark!" His mom gave an affirmative hum before telling him to be careful while she continued to stir the soup she was making for dinner. Jesse quickly put on his shoes and got on his bike before rushing to the other side of town where the pokemon daycare man lived. Jesse and his family lived in the outskirts of the town, where it was cheaper because his mom was the only one that currently has a job to supply the family. The father was out of the picture, off with his new wife in his own house. "Shoot, I hope I make it in time!" Jesse says as he checks his Xtransciever to see that the time was 8:35. "Ok 10 minutes, that's enough time." Jesse stuffs his Xtransciever back in his pocket before working the pedals on his bike to go faster as he goes through the quieter streets in order to not risk running into anyone.

So, that's the first chapter. Tell me what you think of this beginning in the comments. It would be extremely helpful if you guys could tell me what I'm doing right and what I'm doing wrong since this is my first novel so I don't have much experience in the ways of writing a clear cohesive story. So, it would be great if you guys could give some criticism as well as just general ideas of what you want to see in this story, as long as it stays within the motif of focusing on pokemon breeding and not human breeding.
