19 EVOLUTION

A/N: my stories are more in the style of journal than a scene/play. so most of the time I will be paraphrasing dialogue instead of writing charcters. if any of you think of a dialogue line that would fit my paraphrasing to be either funny, badass, dramatic or cool in any way or form, please set the dialogue (quote) in paragraph comment .

----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a particularly long chapters, with a lot of information in (brackets) and in paragraph comments.

I tried but couldn't split this chapter into multiple chapters as all the information ties in to a full circle here.

It is highly recommended that you remember the latter part of last chapter, but not necessary as I will repeat some of that information in paragraph comments where I think it is required.

Please comment on any paragraph with a question if you want more information on anything mentioned

----------------------------------------------------------------------

After my mom was finished wrapping up publishing her discoveries, we got her to help us evolve our Pokemon . She was impressed by what we had already achieved and came up with a plan of action for evolution.

For Vulpix, We used help of a lot of ghost Pokemon to extract energy from Shadow Demension/Phantom realm and made a few Spell Tags from it. These tags are known to increase power of ghost type moves. We then asked Vulpix to try to use Will-O-Wisp as a ghost type move, instead of fire type move using those with tags as a focus.

We even used Trick Or Treat with Gourgeist's help to add ghost as secondary typing to fire. Both typing help it with creating a Will-O-Wisp. Then comes the real test. We ask it to send it to a wooden block we had put there. We confirmed that it did not cause fire to the wood and moved past or like it was never there. The wood had burn marks where it passed by, but we saw no fire.

This was all the confirmation my mom needed and she asked Vulpix to perform that similar Will-O-Wisp on itself as it initiated evolution using a fire stone. It activated it's flash fire ability and tried to absorb the Will-O-Wisp. It then used concepts learnt from Phantom force to change it's body's to intangible one. Finally it's body's frequency of intangibility and the Will-O-Wisp's frequency of intangibility matched and it was able to absorb it.

All of this happened during its evolution process so the new being in front of us was a Ninetales. It looked pale blue, almost silverish (shiny Ninetales) due to concentration of Ghost energy in it. We checked it's ability to enter into an intangibility form that looked like a flame in the shape of Ninetales.

I and my mom had our Porygon scan it and what we find befuddled us. It had not gained the secondary typing of ghost that me and my mom expected. Instead it had gained a ghostly ability called Wonder Gaurd.

Basically the Ninetales was a ball of fire/heat manifested into the form of a nine tailed fox. Only things that hurt fire can hurt it. No other moves can hurt it because how do you hurt fire except by extinguishing it, that why super effective moves against it still hurt it and still be super effective.

A bolt of lightning just passes by the flames without hurting it. Similarly a dragons's claw or a poison jab can't hurt the flames itself, only it's source, the site of it's combustion. that's exactly what Ninetales is lacking. It is a flame without fuel or smoke or soot. It is just heat and illumination manifested.

Water or some sand can still extinguish it, by shear incompatibility with the fire as they are super effective . When it used the move burn up, it burnt up the fire typing but didn't turn into No-type pokemon, instead it turned into ghost type Pokemon, even though that isn't it's secondary typing.

It was a mystery to us if why it didn't have Ghost typing in the first place. We were Even more baffled by the fact that it did turn into ghost type after using Burn-Up. It turns out that it kept it's spirit (ghost type) in the Phantom realm when it used Phantom Force to synchronise with Will-O-Wisp during its evolution.

It controls a ball of fire (from the move Will-O-Wisp) as if it were controlling a VR video game character/Avatar while keeping it's spirit in Phantom realm. The ball of fire takes the form of Ninetales, turning it into an avatar of its spirit that resides in Shadow World/Phantom Realm. When it uses the move Burn Up, it sacrifices it's Avatar for massive damage, but it's spirit is forced to come out of the Phantom Realm if it wishes to continue a fight.

Any type of damage to the Avatar, that is not self inflicted, is reflected on its spirit body, so it is not something to be careless about. But if the Avatar uses a move like explosion, where the damage is self inflicted, the spirit can anticipate and avoid the damage, sacrificing the Avatar.

All This is because during its evolution, it used ghost type energy to enhance the Will-O-Wisp and Phantom Force using ghost type spell tags. It still kept the move (Will-O-Wisp) as fire type but also made it so that it would also do ghost type damage, if it hit (like flying press). But only fire type Pokemon get STAB from it. Due to this phenomenon, it can even choose to add ghost type damage to any of its other fire type moves now and get STAB, without being a Ghost type in its Fire Avatar. (the difference is like Normal Fire vs Hellfire)

Slugma was already pushing back it's evolutions for some time now because he had the need, Need for Speed. It's usual evolution is arguably even less agile than it so it was looking for a different path. With my help, he was already faster and more agile than ever before. My mom could only suggest holding metal coat to increase the steel energy in it even more, despite me having fed it so much metal that it is more a molten metal at this point than it is lava.

I helped him learn Iron Defence, before we got into a room with artificially added concentration of Steel energy. My mom had this place made after her research into evolution of Wooloo into Scrubwool (new fakemon).

I asked the Slugma to use Focus Energy and Stockpile to increase the concentration of Steel type energy Into its body. It had a much easier time doing this because it's body was now mostly metal based. I handed him a canister of liquid metal coat (metal spray).I asked It start using Iron Defence continuously and keep using the Metal Coat to empower it.(it is a held items that increases power of Steel Type moves while also being the item that evolved Scyther into Scizor. )

After following our instructions, the Slugma lets go of the hold it had over it's own evolution. It began glowing silvery white and continued using Iron Defence and using the Metal Coat .

The evolved Pokemon was nothing like Slugma. it was silver coloured as if we were looking at a mirror itself. Right now, lying flat on the ground, it looked like spilled Mercury. But it gathered itself up into a vaguely octopus shape. It turns it's colour from mirror coloured, to the colour of the floor and we wouldn't be able to see him if I was not using my Porygon as glasses.

(check the paragraph comment for images).

It can turn is body into any shape and can turn any color. It can even replicate it's look into that of another Pokemon, with the ability to change it's own shape and colour. It moved through the ground like spilled liquid, gliding through it at amazing speeds. It is warm to touch, but can will itself to reach temperatures hot enough to make its metal body glow red.

Using Porygon, we found out that it has typing FIRE/STEEL. It retained its ability Flame Body. It's Magma armour ability evolved to become Mirror armour. It also gained the move Camouflage and the Ability illusion (Zoroark) . If it's primary type changes with Camouflage, it's abilities change to reflect that. For example, if it is in Electric Terrain when it uses Camouflage, it's Fire type changes to Electric. It's Flame Body ability changes to Static . For grass type, Effect Spores and similarly for other types, punishing the opponent for mere contact with it.

It can even use Magnet Rise ( due to steel type) to take to air and move even faster and avoid ground damage that is 4x effective against it. We named the Pokemon Cephaloy, based on its Cry (Cephalopod + alloy)

After learning everything we could about these divergent evolutions, we were able to make my Ponyta truly OP.

Just like Slugma, my Ponyta had also experimented with different types of energies. So much so that it can use Conversion on itself now to change its Secondary typing. (explained in last chapter, TL:DR in the paragraph comments)

Unlike Slugma though, it didn't have any preference for its secondary typing, being almost equally proficient with each type of energy. Me, the girls and my mom decided to help it develope a combination move that uses energy from each type of move.

We created some moves with Ponyta's multiple types, by combining a few moves. All other Pokemon helped us create these moves and even tried to learn any of these that they could. We called these moves FUSION moves. these moves required so much energy that a pokemon had to use its own life energy in order to use it, if they were found lacking.

(give me a better/alternate name for "FUSION" in comments, especially after reading some of them)

(I will explain the function of FUSION moves, but will not describe the moves that already exist in universe. you can ask for its effect/description in the paragraph comment and me or a good Samaritan will answer your comment)

First we created a move we called Zealous Precision that increases accuracy and crit-chance, while also assuring the next few hits can overcome any immunities, that they gained through Abilities or Typing.

It was created by combining the moves Odor Sleuth(Normal), Miracle Eye (Psychic), Focus energy (Normal) and Lazer Focus (Normal).

Another move we created was called Dangling Cocoon , where my Ponyta wraps itself in its wings, withdrawing into it, then the wings(made of vines) spread(coil) around it forming a cocoon. The cocoon then starts hovering over ground, as if dangling from an invisible branch. During its time inside the Cocoon, it gains more defence but at the cost of reduced speed in its cocoon form.(it's kinda opposite of the move Shell Smash with added levitation)

We achieved this by fusing the moves Coil ( poison), withdraw (water), Acid armour(poison), Bulk Up (fighting), Iron Defence (steel), Curse(ghost) and Stockpile (normal) for the Cocoon part and Magnet rise (electric) and Rock Polish (Rock)to give it the Dangling effect and recover some speed lost in this form.

Next move we created was Dancing Plume. Similar to Dangling Cocoon, this move also changes the form of Ponyta. This move combines/joins both it's wings into a Wide Plumage that looks like a peacock opening it's feathers(tail feathers). Except the feathers are made of vines, leaves and flames. Ponyta shakes it's feathers and it's body like a dancing peacock.

After the dance, the plumage is closed in similar manner to a peacock's tail and trails behind it like an extended tail. This ends up making my Ponyta look like one of those dragon figures from Chinese dragon dance, due to the plumage covering the buttocks of Ponyta. (image in paragraph comment for reference)

This move increases Ponyta's speed drastically and increases its aerodynamics. Due to extra speed, Physical attacks carry more momentum and do more damage. It also reduces long term damage taken by a little by using it's speed to dodge better.

This move was created by fusing the moves Dragon dance (dragon), Quiver dance (bug), Agility (psychic), Feather Dance And Swords Dance [Normal(should be steel IMO)] .

All these moves use tremendous amount of energy, especially since they are made using multiple moves. My Ponyta has to spend it's life energy to perform them so I had to make more powerful life restoring moves, which recover much more health than they consume, hopefully.

The first of these moves was called Cosmic Accumulation. Ponyta's body turns brighter and starts glowing, and being in its presence is like being in sunlight. a Pokemon besides it can use its brightness to perform Solar Beam without needing to accumulate solar energy first. It's presence even increases efficiency of some recovery moves and all Fire Moves.

This move also heals Ponyta and all Pokemon that it's bright light falls on when it first performs the move . It can even heal status effects. Ponyta can direct it's brightness such that they don't fall on the enemy and heal them(like having bright sunlight on own side, but enemy not benifit from it). This move revives enough life energy to power other moves with it, despite requiring high energy to cast itself.

This move is made by fusing of moves Defog (flying), Sunny day (fire), Moonlight (fairy), Synthesise (grass), Aromatherapy (grass) and Cosmic Power (Psychic).

(if any of you guys still don't understand why specific moves were needed for which function of the fusion move, ask in the comment, for any fusion move)

It even learnt two other fusion moves dedicated to recovering life energy. This was Because even with excess life energy from Cosmic Accumulation, Ponyta could only sustain one other fusion move without hurting itself.

Ash Storm is a move made by combining Sand Storm(ground), Shore Up (ground) and Burning Sands (ground)/ Will-O-Wisp (fire). It creates a storm of Ash that hurts any Pokemon vulnerable to it consistently with Fire and Ground type damage (like the Move storm/hail), with a chance of Burning a Pokemon hurt by it. Ponyta or any fire type pokemon that uses the move can absorbs some of this ash and uses it to recover some of its health, but only if Pokemon is either fire or ground type and user of the move.

The Last healing fusion move we created was called Prune. In this move, Ponyta extracts vitality and energy from its vine wings, which in turn shrivel and fall off. This removes the wing from Ponyta and in turns removes any added secondary type, turning it back to singular fire type. with removal of wings, it also reduces in weight, increasing its speed.

This move was created with fusion of Roost (flying), Purify (poison) and Autotomize (steel).

The last fusion move was the most important with Ponyta's evolution standpoint. It was a move called Rip-off. It was created by combining the moves Snatch (dark), Mirror Move (flying) and Mimic (normal). The move reminded me of Kakashi vs Zabuza , where Kakashi is copying Zabuza's move (water dragon), but still completes it before Zabuza.

[ List of new FUSION moves - Zealous Precision, Dangling Cocoon, Dancing Plume, Cosmic Accumulation, Ash Storm, Prune and Rip-off ]

Finally the day of Ponyta's evolution came. It has been 4 months since we came back to Saffron City and Ponyta had spent every second of that time preparing for this moment.

Ponyta stood in the middle of a circle, under the bright sun, with three Pokemon surrounding it. These three Pokemon were Tangrowth, Cephaloy (evolved Slugma) and Tentacruel.

Tangrowth starts the move Cosmic Accumulation and glows brightly , gaining just enough energy to sustainable use its next move Dangling Cocoon. It wrapped itself in its own vines creating a cocoon around it that started floating in the air.

Tentacruel uses the move Prune, to rid itself of its toxins, by purifying it's poison energy into life energy. This gave it enough energy to sustainable use its next move Zealous Precision. This move would allow it's acid (that it now purified, hence losses on STAB) to Corrode even steel types.

Cephaloy (evolved Slugma) used the move Ash Storm, and started absorbing heat and mass from its ashes, Turing it into life energy. This allows it to perform the move Dancing Plume without backlash. It could use its ability (Illusion) to transform into anything, and it transformed into a Avian (bird) , dancing in the Ash Storm like peacock dances in the rain.

Ponyta used the move Rip-off on these moves, despite knowing these moves better than any of the current users. It first copied 2 of the three healing fusion moves. Ash Storm created a localised storm of soot and ashes that started turning it's blue flames black. Cosmic Accumulation made its body glow.

Once it has copied the two healing moves successfully, it has excess life energy that it used to Rip-off Zealous Precision and Dangling Cocoon.

It covered itself in a cocoon made of it's wings and vines that make up it's wings and started levitating (Dangling Cocoon) . Ponyta then started focusing the energy inside itself (Zealous Precision) to prepare for the final move .

The Ponyta let go of its hold on its evolution and it's whole cocoon started glowing. Then I asked it to use a combination of Fusion moves Dancing plum , Prune and the move burn up to perform a move that I've named PHEONIX REBIRTH. The cocoon started loosing the fire that surrounded it (black coloured now due to Ash Storm) and the cocoon turned black ,as if rotting and being burnt and started shaking up, letting some of the Ash fall off of it , joining the ash and soot in the still active move Ash Storm. The cocoon started looking more brittle as it cracks started forming on it, due to its energy being absorbed into Ponyta inside it.

The Glowing cocoon started expanding at various spots as if something is pushing it out from inside. one spot couldn't bare so much pressure that it broke apart, letting us see a horse/dragon like head with stag like horns. The newly visible head and the cocoon were still glowing with the light of evolution.

Soon the light from evolution subsided and the cocoon turned completely feel apart into ashes, revealing a serpentine skeletal dragon (Eastern dragon) like creature, whose flesh and muscles were replaced with fire and it's bones/skeleton looked to be made of ash covered vines.( the evolution looks a little like Eternatus from Gen 8)

(for image references look at the paragraph comments)

It has the Typing FIRE/GRASS, with an ability that changes its secondary typing to a type that would resist any attacks made at it. it works similar to move conversion and ability Colour Change (Kecleon), but instead of changing the type after taking the damage, it changes type during the attack, making it so that almost all types of attack are resisted by it.

(this was explained in last chapter, but TL:DR in paragraph comments)

Exception to its resistances being the types that deal super effective damage to fire. Even those moves become neutrally effective at the least due to added resistance. It can even resist those if it uses Burn Up to lose its primary Fire typing.

It's skeleton is the vines that used to make up it's wings and it has completely given up it's flesh and turned it into Blue Flames that cover the Skeletal dragon.

We named the Pokemon Plungam (Pronounced as Plunge 'em, let me know if you like the spelling Plungem better). Just like Ponyta/Rapidash can choose to not hurt people riding them or Pokemon they trust with their Flame Body/ Mane, Plungam can choose to not hurt creatures that come in contact with it .

Now that each our Pokemon that wanted to evolve have evolved, We have a much better shot against Sabrina. After we train our Pokemon to get used to their new forms, we will challenge her and then continue our journey.
