"Who do you think will be selected this time professor Oak ?" Koga asked.

"I can't say for sure but the gym leaders have a significantly higher chance that the others.

If I had to choose a pick I would say the Safron city gym leader has the highest chance" Oak said.

"Don't forget about your little professor Oak.

I don't think he would have any problem with his identity getting exposed as he is quite strong " Agatha said intervening in the competition.

"Who are you talking about ?" Bruno asked.

"Professor Gunhildr who else "

The others who were ignoring the matter became interested too.

"Ara~ didn't know the famous professor Gunhildr who has caused quite a storm with his observations and theories, was a participant.

Since he is a participant, he must be very young~

If Agatha is talking about him then she must know his identity too right ?" asked Lorelei.

"No need to hurry…you'll find out soon enough. "

Meanwhile, Lance was looking through the window trying to remember the time when he once participated in the event too.

On the other side.

All the participants were waiting excitedly for the start of the match.

There were all sorts of people present there; some were confident, some nervous, some excited, and some overconfident.

Some people who knew each other even started betting about who would last the longest among them.

Unlike normal Pokemon matches, the first rounds happening will be in a random format which includes one on one matches, duels, battle royals etc.

On a big screen in the stadium, all the formats were visible out of which one would be shortly chosen.

"The wait is finally over folks and it's time for choosing the format of battle !!!" announced the anchor.

One by one all the options started flashing before finally stopping on one.

The appearance of this option caused a wave of excitement and nervousness.

"The chosen style of the match is battle royal so let me explain the rules as this is a new style introduced this year"

There are 80 trainers in this event who will be participating in 8 rounds with each round 10 trainers.

Each trainer will release one pokemon in the designated area and the winners will be the last two Pokemon standing.

A Pokemon will be eliminated by either fainting or getting out of the selected field.

At the end of all the rounds, we will be left with 16 trainers who will then fight the next rounds.

Lastly, once the Pokemon enters the field, the trainer cannot give any verbal commands to their Pokemon.

"I hope all the rules are clear so let's start with the rounds "

The last rule may sound a bit unfair but going by the nature of the event, it is totally fair.

But the rules never said about mental or commands so people with psychic Pokemon have an advantage. A trainer could also use hand gestures since they didn't fall under verbal commands.

This was a match that would have a lot of factors to decide the end result like the ability to dodge, crowd control, fastest attacker, AOE damage dealer, etc.

Trainers could also form groups and target other pokemon first.

The number of the first 10 participants was displayed on the screen and called to the stadium.

Aoki and Sabrina both looked at each other and started walking as it had their numbers.

"I will have to wait I guess…..

I don't think you two will need it but best of luck " Misty said.

As they reached the stadium, the audience burst into cheers for the trainers.

The live footage of the stadium was telecasted all over the Kanto region.

Some people were excited to see the people they knew on screen, some were interested in knowing about the trainers and seeing different Pokemon while some were waiting to analyze the moves the trainers will be using and making them their own.

All the trainers stood around the type-changing field which was a grass field.

"Let's make a record for the fastest elimination. " Sabina said to Aoki.

"Sure, sounds interesting.

Since you are with me in this one, let's give them a show they have never seen before "

With everyone at their positions, the referee announced the start of the match.

'Go full power Alakazam ' Sabrina released her Pokemon giving a mental command.

Her Alakazam which was at master rank the last time Aoki saw it has now reached eite rank.

Aoki too released his Pokemon that would be the best for a battle royal who immediately started levitating.

"Show them the power of gravity Clefable ".

Hell broke loose as soon as all the Pokemon came into the field.

There were Pokemon like Tauros, Rhydon, and Golem who immediately used Earthquake, Fearow who charged up an Hyperbeam, Polywrath using Hydropump, Vileplume using Solar Beam, Beedrill who focus on dodging, and finally a Magneton used thunderbolt.

Most of the Pokemon there were at master rank while some were at peak intermediate rank.

Alakazam and Clefable synchronized and dodged every attack aimed at them.

Just as the initial rounds of attacks were over, Clefable released all energy restrainers and used a strong gravitation field which made all the pokemon expect Alakazam to fall to the ground unable to move their bodies.

Although Clefable did most of the work, to everyone it seemed that Sabrina's Alakazam did all the work.

What actually happened was only inferred by a handful of people.

"Sabrina's Alakazam is strong, " Bruno said looking at the match.

"No, you are wrong.." Lance narrowed his eyes " It's the Clefable's doing "

"Never seen a Pokemon having so much mastery over gravity, " Lorelei said.

Professor Oak didn't say anything but he was analyzing a lot of things in his mind.

'An elite-level Clefable, seems like I need to have a talk with Aoki soon'.

"The match will end in the next 10 seconds, " Agatha said looking at the field.

And just as she predicted, an overwhelming amount of psychic energy burst out of Clefable and Alakazam blasting all the other Pokemon out of the field making them faint at the same time.

'The Pokemon this guy trained is insane.....' Lance thought seeing Aoki's Clefable.

Silence enveloped the stadium as people stared at the field and the screen with their eyes opened wide.

The audience went crazy but the trainers stood there in their places shocked by the power level described by the two Pokemon.

It didn't take even a minute for the two of them to completely destroy the match.

Aoki and Sabrina called back their Pokemon and left the stadium leaving the trainers standing there in their dazed state.

'Didn't they go a bit overboard 'Misty thought seeing their performance.

'Hehe their combination is pretty terrifying. I wonder how she will perform in bed

No No No, this is not the time to think such things…get a hold of yourself, Misty!!!'.

"With a glorious and exceptional performance of power…the winner of this round is Aoki and Sabrina.

Give them a huge round of applause as we welcome the trainers participating in the next round."

The next 10 trainers entered the field which included two gym leaders.

"Oya~oya~ if it isn't my rival Alex? I never thought you will show your burnt face here after being defeated in your first-ever official gym battle" bug-type gym leader Fonsi said.

"What did you say, you bug catcher!! Should I burn you too like the last time I burned your bugs you loser!!" Fire-type gym leader Alex replied.

"Loser ?! what the hell are you talking about, I don't remember ever losing to you "

"Losing to me must be a big shock for you as you forgot about the outcome.

Let me reawaken that memory for you shitty bug fucker "

"Bring it on you burnt clown "

Their quarrel didn't last long as the referee announced the start of the match.

"Go Scizor…show him your power !!" Fonsi released his elite rank Scizor.

"Squash that bug Arcanine !!" Alex released his elite rank Arcanine.

'They are doing it here too ' Brock thought sitting with Daisy in the audience.

As he was a former gym leader, he got a good seat for himself and Daisy to come cheer for Ash and Gary.

The rivalry between Fonsi and Alex was well known among the gym leaders as they argued in every gym leader meeting.

'I get it about Sabrina but the power level of Aoki's Clefable is unnatural.

They seemed to be in sync as if they talked it out…he managed to secure himself the most beautiful gym leader...I am so jealous!! '

"Hey, Brock why are you gritting your teeth ?" Daisy asked.

"No-nothing. Forget about it "

Unlike Aoki and Sabrina's round, this round gave the audience the entertainment they wanted.

Arcanine and Scizor clashed without a single worry in the world destroying every Pokemon that came their way.

The battle continued for 10 minutes with no clear winner but their clash eliminated all the other Pokemon making them the winner of the round.

"Seems like we need to continue our battle in the later rounds bug fucker "

"Good for you burnt clown, you get to save your reputation till then "

With their round done, the next round started in which Misty and Gary were together.

Gary played the smart card and decided to team up with Misty for this round.

His Pokemon were strong but not strong enough like the gym leaders to eliminate the other Pokemons easily.

Hearing that Misty was going to use Slowking, Gary decided to use Executor to imitate what Aoki and Sabrina did in their round.

The teamwork between Slowking and Executor turned out to be fruitful as they were the winners of that round although it was not easy.

There was an Electabuzz and Gastly that targetted Slowking while a Charmeleon and a Pidgeot targetted Executor almost making him faint if not for Slowking's timely help.

This match lasted about 15 minutes giving the desired entertainment.

'Gary has matured it seems. I would have never imagined him cooperating with others' both professor and Daisy had the same thought.

The matches continued till there were only 16 trainers left out of 80. They were …Aoki, Sabrina, Misty, Gary, Jill, Alex, Fonsi, Ash, and eight more trainers

Some of the highlights were Ash's Pikachu whose thunder directly knocked out 7 of the 10 Pokemons, Jill's Magmar who went on a rampage, and a trainer named Zeno with a Dragonite who summoned a big storm.

There was a 2 hours break announced for the trainers as well as the audience before the next round of matches commenced.

Before the break, the format of the battle and the matchups were announced.

The type of battle would be a 3vs3 full team battle in which both the trainers will command a total of 3 Pokemon to fight the opponent's 3 pokemon.

The 8 matchups were

Aoki vs Zeno

Misty vs Rukia…

Sabrina vs…..

…

..

.

Coincidentally none of the trainers Aoki knew were fighting each other. Aoki was not really shocked by that.

'Sure enough, the matches are not random but rigged to give the audience the most fun.

All the people I know have some sort of background and have shown interesting performances, the ones responsible will not let them fight each other very soon.

Even the gym leaders are not made to fight just yet.
