37 Researchers meet and egg 

A few days later

Aoki was walking in the streets of Cerulean City which was always full of People. He had the egg incubator behind him in a bag that looked not so different from a normal bag.

He stood in front of a tall building and entered it through an automatic door.

"How may I help you sir? ", asked the woman at the reception.

"I have an appointment with professor Oak, " said Aoki showing her the Pokedex.

She typed and checked something on the computer at the desk and confirmed the name.

"We have confirmed your appointment. Please move towards room 102 on the topmost floor, professor Oak would be waiting for you there. "

Aoki nodded and entered the lift to the topmost floor.

The entire building was a 5-star hotel that was made from very strong glass from top to bottom.

He knocked on the door with the number 102.

" Its open come in "

A voice came from inside

Aoki unlocked the door and entered a well spacious room in which was Professor Oak sipping tea and sitting on his bed. Around him were sleeping the new 4 Eevee evolution types.

"Its been a while professor, "Said Aoki

"Haha It's been a while, Aoki, I hope you are doing well."

"Yes, I am doing well. Seems like they are tired after yesterday's event "

"The event was a success, the new evolution types would be announced by tomorrow to the world. The Pokedex is to be updated too which can be done later.

Your speech was excellent, it didn't feel like it was your first time doing that "

"It took a lot of rehearsal and the questions being asked were a bit problematic to answer but I am glad it was over without any accident."

Professor Oak took out a card that Aoki scanned with his Pokedex.

This was the membership card for the Researcher Alliance.

Last night, a conference of a limited number of Professors was held at the building of the researcher alliance where Aoki announced the new Eevelutions.

As Aoki was nobody in line of research, Professor Oak gave wrote his name as a partner in the research for people to value him more.

In the event, Aoki wore a full face mask and a voice changer as he didn't want to give out his face so soon.

A lot of people had done this in the past for safety reasons. Due to this event, he got the certificate to call himself a Professor and an ID card.

As long as he had the ID he could access the research facilities, training facilities, and advanced market.

Although Aoki had to prove that he was the real person with some personal details he told professor Oak to add while creating the ID.

Aoki opened this Pokedex and saw that 2 million Pokedollars had been transferred to his account from the league and researcher alliance for his contribution.

For the first time in his life, Aoki had so much money in his account.

Aoki felt like his eyes would pop out seeing such an amount.

Professor Oak laughed and said, "Don't be surprised, researchers are valued a lot. Your name has just started spreading so the money is less if you publish individual papers the money would have been more.

And the discovery of evolution is a very big deal. "

Aoki made some small talk while professor Oak looked through his Pokedex making him excited.

Oak didn't look through the personal info or custom inputs but only the general inputs. He was surprised to see Aoki coming across almost every type of Pokemon that is found on the route between Pallet town to Cerulean City.

Even Pokemon like Nidoking and Golem were there.

'Looks like he went deeper into some territories' Oak thought seeing the Profile of Nidoking.

He asked Aoki to show his Pokemon one by one.

First Aoki released Weepinbell who greeted professor Oak as he remembered him.

"That's your starter right, looks like you take care of him very well "

Next was Pigeotto who made Professor Oak stand up from his bed and look her around her entire body with surprise and amazement.

"I am sure this is a royal gene Pigeotto, " said Oak while rubbing his chin.

There were many different variants of the same Pokemon.

The first was the shiny variant, these Pokemon had different colors than normal species and had high potential than the normal one.

The second was a regional variant, the same Pokemon having different typing for different regions. For example, Kanto Vulpix which was a fire type, and Alolan details which had an ice type.

The third was the Totem species, these Pokemon were larger, aggressive, ferocious, and stronger than normal species.

For example, if a species is 1m in height, the totem version would be 3 meters in height.

A grown-up totem Pokemon is a ruler of a certain area in the wild so people don't mess with totem pokemon as they don't want the entire wild community up their asses.

Totem Pokemon usually stay hidden from the eyes of people like the legendary Pokemons but can be found more easily than legendary Pokemon.

The Totem Pokemons found in Alola were an exception as they were several times stronger than the totem Pokemons found in other regions.

It was Aoki's first time hearing about the royal gene.

"What is a royal gene professor? " asked Aoki

"You know the fact that Pokemon used to be many times stronger than current time centuries ago right?

You must have read the report that a fossil was found that showed Scyther used to have another set of evolution.

Although the Pokemons have evolved a lot from those centuries ago, some of their genes still remained.

Pokemon that are born normally but awaken their ancient gene due to mutations at later stages of their life are called royal gene Pokemon.

They are born leaders and can even reach the level of power shown by a fully evolved Pseudo legendary.

In my entire life, I have only seen 10 royal gene Pokemon including yours.

Due to the mutation of genes, these Pokemon neither look like the current or the ancient versions but rather something different.

"In short they are a mixture of Totem and Shiny."

"Yes but not entirely. Although a Totem and Shiny combination is terrifying, a royal gene Pokemon has superior talent than that.

Because there is only a handful of people that have seen a royal gene Pokemon and the data is insufficient to prove anything, this information is not public," Oak said.

"The last royal gene Pokemon I saw was a Charizard that had a brown body and quired rock typing. Keep this information to yourself "

Oak had seen 2 Pokemons unlock their ancient gene due to coming in contact with radiation and the other three after being involved in an experiment but a wild Pokemon unlocking the royal gene was unthought of.

'What can be the trigger I wonder.

Is it psychic powers?

No, if that was the case Alakazam would have sensed it.

Is it aura…can be but I am not sure.

Maybe I am overthinking things..that Pokemon might have migrated from a region of radiation that brought about the change' Oak wondered.

Aoki had some speculation after seeing the feathers which turned more golden day by day.

But he didn't expect her to have the royal gene.

"Now that you are a researcher, try to find out how the DNA and other things are different about your Pokemon compared to normal species. You can find Pidgeotto blood samples there at a small price as they are not so hard to find around this area.

Next Aoki took out Charmeleon who greeted professor Oak too like Weepinbell. Oak was first confused but then something clicked in his mind.

" Aoki by any chance did you get him from Nate "

Hearing the name Nate intense anger filled the eyes of Charmeleon but he calmed down the next second as remembered the promise Aoki made to humiliate Nate.

Oak saw the anger in Charmeleon's eyes and half of the story was already clear to him. Aoki explained the entire story that transpired after the tournament making Oak a little sad.

"Professor, how do you know that he was Nate's pokemon ?"

"It was me who gave him the Charmander at the beginning.

It's good that Charmeleon has someone who can bring out his true potential.

Out of all the three starters, the Charmander line is the hardest to raise. In some cases, they even stop listening to their trainer but seems like your Charmeleon respects you a lot. "

This answer was expected by Aoki as he guessed the origin of Charmander after seeing his gesture of Charmeleon towards professor Oak.

Next was Nidorino and finally Clefairy which impressed the professor the most. Clefairy lines are very rare and are always hidden from the outside world. They can only be seen during the night of the full moon on Mt Moon.

They can detect malicious intent and wouldn't hesitate to kill anyone that plans to harm them.

The fact that a Clefairy came with him was a wonderful thing. Some people believed that Clefairy line came from outer space but there was no proof of that.

Finally, Aoki took out the pokemon egg which had grown even more so much that Aoki had to buy a new incubator.

"Where did you get this egg from? it belongs to a dragon-type Pokemon," said Oak with both amusement and surprise.

Dragon Pokemon was the rarest kind of Pokemons around and finding a dragon egg was rarer than that.

Aoki told him about the merchant from the Hoen region and the archaeologists from the Hoen region.

'What luck!' Oak wondered.

"Seeing the color it must be of a pokemon with dragon bloodlines like very high potential Magikarp, Horsea, or a pseudo legendary "

"I feel like it's time for it to hatch but there is no response from the egg so far, " Aoki said. He knew some things about Pokemon eggs but not at the level of Professor Oak.

"You are somewhat correct Aoki,

This egg is near to hatch but not completely ready to hatch," Professor said.

"There is a different requirement for hatching a pokemon egg of a dragon type you see.

The egg needs to be provided with a large amount of dragon-type energy to hatch, unlike other pokemon eggs that hatch normally.

Pokemon like Magikarp are exceptions to this rule.

Take out your Charmeleon and make him feed this egg his entire dragon-type energy now. "

Aoki nodded and asked Charmeleon to do what professor Oak asked.

The egg absorbed the abundance of dragon-type energy like a black hole completely emptying the reserves of Charmeleon in under 5 minutes.

" Now I am sure that this egg belongs to a pseudo legendary. It could be Dratini or a Bagon"

Hearing this joy-filled Aoki.

Having a pseudo legendary was not a joke.

These pokemon are known to be the strongest after the legendary pokemon and can even surpass them if trained properly.

Both the final evolution of these Pokemons were disasters.

The reason Professor Oak could not tell which egg it belonged to.

The Dragonite line and Salamance line's eggs looked completely identical to each other but only changed moments before hatching.

Dragonite usually lay their eggs near a water source while Salamance line both water and heights so sometimes their eggs get mixed up.

So it was rare but not uncommon for a Bagon or Dratiny egg to wash up to the shore. But whether the egg would hatch depended upon whether they were provided with external dragon energy or not.

This is why it is impossible for a pokemon from the pure dragon bloodline to be born without any parent.

Aoki came to Professor at the right time or else the egg would have never hatched killing the Pokemon inside prematurely.

Professor Oak clicked a Pokeball on his belt and a large yellow Pokemon came into view.

This was a bipedal Pokemon with two small wings on its back.

Charmeleon fell to the ground with had difficulty breathing from the pressure the Pokemon released but Aoki was unfazed.

'Ho! He can handle champion-level pressure without any problem 'thought Oak

The Pokemon was Dragonite, Professor Oak's champion-level ace pokemon.

Dragonite seeing the condition of Charmeleon completely suppressed his aura.

"This….." Aoki was speechless seeing Dragonite. The sheer presence of the Pokemon was something he had never felt before.

Aoki had sensed Pokemon up to the elite stage but never a champion level so it took a few seconds for him to adjust.

"He will help you. Consider it the reward from me "

~Aooo~ Dragonite released a sweet cry and started feeling the egg his dragon-type energy too.

Charmeleon looked towards the Dragonite and thought ' I will surpass him !! '

For the next two days, Charmeleon and Dragonite kept feeding the egg his entire dragon-type energy under the watch of Professor Oak until the night of the second day the cracks started forming on the egg.

Just before the cracks started forming, the egg developed silver patches making Professor Oak confirm that it belonged to a Bagon.

Aoki released all his Pokemon to witness the hatching process as you rarely get to see it.

Slowly the cracks broke apart.

A blue 0.5 m tall Bipedal Pokemon came into everyone's view.

It had a large, round snout, triangular eyes, yellow, circular ears similar to reptiles, and a yellow lower jaw with two teeth protruding upwards.

Three thick, gray ridges cover the top of its head and continue downwards to cover its neck as well.

There is a triangular patch of yellow on its underside. It has stubby, digitless arms and short legs with two toes on each foot.

It was Bagon, the first stage of Pseudo legendary Salamence in the Hoen region.

Salamence lived in tall mountains but lay their eggs near their habitat or abundant water or like Dragonite. This was the information Aoki knew from books.

Based on some features Professor Oak told that the Bagon was male

The newborn Bagon was 0.2 m shorter than the average Bagon as he was just born but his body overflowed with dragon-type energy.

Bagon looked around curiously and hugged the leg of Aoki as he felt a familiar feeling from him.

"Welcome to the world Bagon ."

~Baaaa ~ hummed Bagon happily.

Aoki pets the Bagon and asks her to eat the shell of his egg.

He didn't understand what Aoki was saying but understood his signs and started eating the eggshell as it would provide him with a lot of nutrients.

Professor Oak mailed Aoki a diet, especially for Dragon-type pokemon.

Aoki put Bagon into his Pokeball after talking to him.

"You can start his training after a week as dragon types have the least time in the baby phase, " said Professor Oak.

Aoki had the Kanto version of Pokemon which Professor Oak updated to national dex which included Pokemon of Hoen, Jhoto, and Sinnoh region.

Dragon pokemon and Pseudo legendaries like bug Pokemons had the shortest baby phase but unlike bugs, they had a very long growth phase.

Sometimes it even took around a year to reach the intermediate stage.

Aoki bid farewell to professor Oak and went towards Misty's mansion.

After Aoki left professor Oak dialed one number.

" I have seen and assessed Aoki Gunhildr properly. He has the potential to become an elite trainer. Be sure to protect his parents."

" Yes Sir, it will be done " came a voice from the other side.

"Try to investigate the archaeologists that came to research mount moon from Hoen and try to see if you can find anything suspicious"

"Yes Sir"

Oak is someone who believed in destiny quite a lot.

The team Aoki gathered so early on was not just coincident but a matter of fate too.

From his personal experience, he can say that Aoki is destined to do great things.

"Charizard, Victreebel,royal gene Pidgeot, Nidoking, Salamence ...perhaps I am seeing the team of the future Kanto Champion.

You remind me a lot of Red when he was a kid….people who are born to reach the top...
