1 Death

I lived an ordinary life. I wasn't born with a silver spoon in my mouth nor was my family poor. My father worked as a manager at a small company while my mother stayed home, taking care of me and my sister.

My school life was typical too. I didn't excel at any subject particularly and got average grades. I was ok at sports and didn't join any clubs at school. The only strange thing about me was my stone cold face. It would stay flat even when I was sad or in pain. I couldn't show emotions well so I didn't have many friends.

I had a phase where I was very interested in martial arts and took classes for them. I had a black belt in karate, and a blue belt in Taekwondo. I eventually grew out of that phase and joined the army. I stayed in the army for six years and then got an honorable discharge. I eventually got a job as a security guard.

My job was quite boring and I eventually found pokemon. I thought pokemon was very fascinating and played all the games. I also watched the anime in my free time. I would consider myself a big fan for I could name all of the pokemon and their types.

I wasn't ugly, but my expressionless face made me hard to get close to. I've gone on some dates but they all said my face caused them to think I didn't enjoy their company. And that leads me to now. Today is my 29th birthday but I'm still single. I don't have a girlfriend to celebrate my birthday with so I invited some friends. I made these friends while attending a pokemon event. They had similar interests and we hit it off quickly.

Ding~ Dong~

Hearing the doorbell, I got up to open the door.

"Hey, what's up. Am I the first to arrive?" asked Joshua as I opened the door.

Joshua worked as an office worker and made pokemon blogs in his free time. He presented me with bags of chips as he walked into my apartment room. He combed through his ginger hair as he looked around. Sitting down, he took out his phone to call the third member of our trio of friends.

"Tyler, where are you? You're late. Well, not late but kinda since I somehow got here before you did." Joshua talked over the phone.

I set down the bags of chips and went to grab some beer. I opened the refrigerator to find it devoid of any alcohol. A party isn't a party unless there is some booze, I thought. "Hey, Josh, I'll be going out to grab some beer. I seem to have drunk the rest of it last night." I said as I turned around.

"Can you pick up Tyler on the way? He said his car broke down and he is waiting in front of the station."

"Sure," I replied as I grabbed my car keys. Running down the stairs, I looked at the sky and thought how beautiful today was. Nothing could possibly go wrong today.

I got in my blue Nissan Versa and started it. I backed out of the driveway and headed toward the convenient store down the block. Reaching a red light, I stopped. I saw across from me a large truck with the Pokemon logo on its side.

The truck driver seemed to have not seen the red light or something cause it was still driving at full speed. I started to panic when I saw the driver was somehow asleep and I tried to get out of the car. I was too late, however.

The truck came, front first, crashing into my car and I felt a burning pain travel across my body. I felt dizzy as I looked around. A lot of blood covered the wreckage of my car. I didn't know if it was mine or the truck driver for he was near me, looking dead.

I felt my consciousness fade as everything black out. My last thought was "Pokemon, how could you do this to me…"
