7 Chapter 7 - Evolution

After arriving in Cerulean City I decide to rest for few days. Training for nonstop for the last 2 months have taken a toll on my Pokémon's. Even Zubat who I caught have grow to be stronger than your average who I caught a month ago, and had thought of keeping as a reserve pokemon is stronger than you average Golbat, the Second Evolution form of Zubat. Tough I haven't changed my opinion about this pokemon.

Anyway, I have decided to let them take rest for 3 days, with only doing stretching exercise and give them a well deserved rest.

I spend my next 3 days travelling Cerulean City, and it was gorgeous. Filled with waters and Pokémon's, I would not have doubt if the people here said this was a Pokemon paradise.

After 3 days of rest, I decided to visit the Cerulean City Gym. This gym was famous for its water type Pokémon and the leaders are said to be strong. Almost at the level of elite 4 if the Gym leader used his original Pokémon. The Gym leader name is Mathew, and he is supposed to have traveled all over the world, in search of adventure and challenged the elite 4 in his teens years, but lost the match and after few years took the job of Cerulean Gym leader. Some rumor suggests that he is as strong as a elite 4 if not stronger, though why he hasn't challenged them is still up for debate.

Still no matter how strong his original Pokémon is, I am not fighting them so I didn't care too much. As I entered the gym, I saw a huge swimming pool inside the building.

There were dozens of Pokémon floating and playing then, Manteen, Goldeen, Staryu, etc. There were also some rare Pokémon such as Horsea (whos final evolution is a Dragon type and is on my "Catch it" list) and Milotic one of the most beautiful and popular water pokemon.

After looking around I saw a few people there and approach them.

"We need to put the floaters there in Pool 3 and change the water in Pool 5!" Said the guy, with red hair and was only wearing Trunks to the other guy who was working around the pool.

As I approached, the guy in the Trunks looked at me and said "Yes! How may I help you?"

I replied "I wish to challenge the gym." Looking at his face, the previous black and bored expression changed to a smiling face.

He said "Good! Come along. Oh and how many Badges you have?"

I said "This is my 3rd Gym."

He looked at me and said "Go to the other side of the pool, our referee will join us soon." As he said he mumbled "So can only use the beginners pokemon huh, what a letdown."

After a few moments the referee appeared in the side of the Pool and said "This is a official Gym battle between, Mathew our Cerulean City Gym leader, and Lycan Karki Our challenger. This is his 3rd Gym battle. This is a 2 on 2 Pokémon battle. I hope everyone remembers the rules. Then Begin"

Mathew and I both threw our poke ball in the floats in the pool. On my side Bulbasaur was revealed, where as Seel was revealed in Mathew side.

Looking at my opponents Pokémon I knew what Pokémon it was. Seel a water type, is a pinniped Pokémon with a thick hide covered in bluish white fur. It has a pale tan maw with a large red tongue and a pair of tusks on its lower jaw. It has circular eyes and a black nose making it seems quite cute and famous among female trainers.

I said "Bulbasaur start with Razor leaf." As Bulbasaur threw his razor leaf, Mathew said "Into the water, Seel."

All the razor leaf fell down after hitting no target, after flying as far as they can.

Since I already predicted this, I already made plans for it. I said "Bulbasaur you know what to do."

Bulbasaur replied with "Bulba Bulbasaur ", as we waited for the Pokémon to resurface, Bulbasaur has his vine wipe ready to move in any direction nessary.

The moment Seel came out to attack bulbasaur, his Vine whip whipped the small white Pokémon sending it flying in the floats.

I quickly said seeing the situation "Quick use you vines to bind it and use leech seed, and follow with energy ball."

Bulbasaur who was quite quick, quickly arrived in front of Seel who was still dizzy and grabbed it with his Vine, and used a seed that came out of a small plant from his back to Seel.

Seeing this situation Mathew said "Seal use Water gun". When the seed hit Seel it was unable to respond to the command and when it was able to use water gun, Bulbasaur had already have energy ball In his mouth.

When Energy ball, and water gun collided, Water gun was unable to do anything. First it was a grass type move which is stronger and has advantage over water and my Bulbasaur was stronger than Seel so the energy ball strikes Seel and with him already being badly injured with continuous leeching affect of leech seed. Seel was down from the count.

Referee quickly said "Seel is unable to battle, the winner is Bulbasaur. Please send your 2nd pokemon."

Mathew returned seel inside his pokeball and said "You have quite a strong Pokémon there; my Seel was barely able to do anything." He then threw his 2nd pokeball and said " Come pokeball!"

From which a Staryu appeared. Staryu is a Star shaped Pokémon and looks like a star fish. It have a orange body color, with a golden metal like colour in the middle of the body. After than a beautiful red gem was incased between the golden metal and its core. Staryu is a golden-brown sea star-like Pokémon with five appendages. These appendages surround an exterior organ called the core, which is held in place by a golden ring looped around Staryu's left "leg"

After it arrived Mathew quickly went offensive and said "Staryu start with water gun"

"Bulbasaur counter With Razor leaf." As both attack collided they cancelled each other.

Staryu then started to run toward Bulbasaur, as Mathew commanded "Take down"

"Take it and use Poison Powder." As Bulbasaur was about to be hit he send purple dust front his flower in his back. When Staryu collided with Bulbasaur, Bulbasaur was send flying in the air, but landed in the floats.

But Staryu also wasn't unharmed, he had bruise all over its body, and was Poison due to Bulbasaur Poison powder.

Seeing this I said Bulbasaur use energy ball". The energy ball was them thrown toward Staryu. Mathew said Use protect and then Recover".

The energy ball was block with a circular shield that appeared in front of Staryu, then he used Recover healing new all his wounds.

Seeing the situation I also said "use Synthesis"

Being an outdoor Swimming pool, there was a sun in the sky so Bulbasaur use his own healing technique to heal himself.

"Bulbasaur, Staryu is already poisoned, now use leech seed on him the moment you get your chance". Seeing both Pokémon healed me quickly commanded my Pokémon use the move that will damage the Pokémon constantly.

Bulbasaur send 3 Leech seeds toward Staryu, Staryu was able to dodge 1st leech seed but 2 other seeds attached to him and started to leech of him.

Though Staryu was able to recover, he also spends his stamina on it. It wasn't like Synthesis which use Sun/Solar rays as a source for healing. Recover used up his stamina and that cause him to slow down leading to current situation.

I commanded "Bulbasaur, Now just wait and use Vine Whip and Razor leaf if Staryu attack you, but use Synthesis to Recover as much as health you can recover."

Hearing my command Bulbasaur looked at Staryu and used Synthesis. His back was was glowing due to him absorbing the sunlight.

Mathew knew now there was very low chance of him winning. The challenger had another Pokémon with him, and his Pokémon health was draining every second with both Poison and leech seed. As he was going to surrender , there was a white light in the pool. He saw Staryu glowing and growing bigger. After a few second in the place of Staryu a new Pokémon was there.

It was Starmie who was now 1.1 meter tall. This pokemon was the evolved form of Staryu. Lycan have read about this's pokemon before.

Starmie is a violet sea star-like Pokémon with a gold formation on its front. Starmie's jewel core, which can glow in seven colors, has developed to resemble a cut precious stone. There is second set of semi-attached arms on its back, which are able to spin 360°. This was a Pyschic and water type pokemon.

Lycan seeing the evolution have stars in his eye, this was his dream, to evolve beyond humanly possible. He saw the wonder of such evolution. Lycan though in the past wasn't a huge anime fan, he had spend quite many hour watching many anime's. He was sad and angry at his birth thinking why he wasn't born in Naruto, Bleach or Even Dragon ball Z where he can evolve, but after thinking about his dream is to Evolve not grow stronger. So he felt hpthis world was the best he has. And now he was seeing the wonder of this wold. The step that should have take million of years have been Completed in few second. I found this was not miracle then what was.

After Staryu Evolved, Mathew with a grin said "Ok Starmie use Ice Beam."

I also commanded "Energy Ball." Though he evolved he was still poisoned and had his heath being leeched off, so he only need Starmie to stay and prolong the fight.

The 2 attack collided and canceled each other.

"Starmie use Psychic." Mathew commanded his Pokémon a move that a Starmie should have since it was a Pyschic pokemon. It happened so fast that I was unable to reply.

Bulbasaur wasn't able to do anything as he was send flying in the water from Starmie Psychic. "Now use ice beam" Mathew commanded.

Bulbasaur who had trouble in water wasn't able to defend himself and was hit with ice beam, and was frozen.

I signed, Psychic being one the strongest Psychic move was super effective against Bulbasaur who was part Poison and finally Ice beam which was also super effective against Grass type deal the enough to damage that Bulbasaur was unable to fight back. If it was in the ground, bulbasaur May had chance but in water, him losing wasn't unexpected.

Referee then said "Bulbasaur is unable to battle. Challenger releases your final Pokémon."

I looked at Mathew and said "I do the know what to say, the unexpected is common in pokemon battle I guess."

Mathew looked st me answer said "No matter what the outcome, it doesn't change the fact that your single Pokémon would have won this match if it wasn't for the evolution. So what's your nex5 Pokémon."

Looking at Starmie I returned my Bulbasaur and took my 2nd pokeball out. "Go Riolu."

Then my Pokémon Riolu appeared in the battle field. I said " Use foresight and use quick attack"

Mathew also said "psychic ".

Being a fighting type it would have done a huge damage info it landed, but due to Riolu using foresight he was able to saw this move coming and was able to get out of Starmie sight before the Pokémon could complete it.

With quick attack speed, rioulu appered in front of Starmie and hit him. "Now buddy follow it with Thunder punch".

Still in the momentum rioul7 gathered the energy in his hand and attached Starmie with thunder punch. Starmie was going to respond with another's Pyschic but due to Poison which was still present in his body, he was delayed and that was all the moment Riolu needed to attack Starmie with thunder punch.

With super effective move and still injured from previous battle Starmie was unable to continue and fainted.

Seeing the result referee said "Both the Gym leaders pokemons are unable to battle. The victory goes to the challenger Lycan Karki."

Mathew and I both recalled our Pokémon and met in the side of the field. He looked at me as we both handshakes each other, He then said "I honestly expected the same boring match but I felt quite happy and had tones of fun for this Pokémon battle. I wasn't expecting much but you have prove don't me wrong. Here this is Cascade Badge, your trophy for winning here."

I also looked at him and said "Honestly due to me have less than 3 badge I wasn't expecting a challenge and was only expecting to have troubles with the water environment. I had a fun battle." I said with respect in my voice. I still remember this Pokémon this guy used we're untrained or in this case only used in performance. With such a battle from such low Pokémon he had respect for him.

Mathew then said "Remember now you'll not face beginner Pokémon but trained and proper Pokémon from gym leaders. I hope you luck and if you come to Cerulean City in the future come drop by the gym. I keep you company then."

With than Mathew returned to his work and with my new badge I existed the building.

Facing Mathew I know how much strong I have to be. But this is just my beginning of journey. I will no matter how train to the peak of Aura and Evolve even if I have to Genetically alter myself, and no longer be human.

With the goal to evolve I went to the nearest Pokémon Centre to heal my Pokémon and have a good rest.
