6 I Choose You!
"Shawn. Glad you made it in time."
Professor Oak greeted me with a smile. Although Daisy had a somewhat complicated look.
I wonder if she's alright... Oh well, I won't stick my nose anywhere.
As I turned my head towards Green, I noticed he had a look of determination in his eyes. He ignored me and aimed straight towards the Pokeballs.
Ignore me all you want bro. I'm still here.
After checking his watch one last time, Professor Oak was about to start his speech. Before he could though, the entrance of the lab was burst open.
"WAIT UP!!!"
Looking over, the first thing I saw was a kid with brown hair and red clothes. He seemed to have been through a marathon with how much he was panting.
The guy probably ran the whole way here. I kinda feel bad for him.
"Wait... Please tell me you haven't started without me!"
Red had a look of desperation in his eyes, Until he saw that he was right on time.
Letting out a sigh, he walked up to us.
"Way to make an entrance... Baka." Green had a stern look on his face, but I could tell he was enjoying it.
Red sent an angry look back at him and bowed at the professor in an effort to apologize. After this, he kept sending small looks at Daisy every now and then.
Not managing to stop myself, I walked up behind him and lightly hit him with my elbow. All the while covering my mouth in a whispering fashion.
"Come on man, you could at least hide it a bit more... no?"
Red became flushed like a tomato. You could say he was... Red.
[Notifying Host. Please refrain from such puns, it will only put your social progress in jeopardy.]
Okay, I'll stop. So serious.
With a light chuckle, I stood there silently. Professor Oak seemed to have become impatient.
"Shawn, Green, and Red. Today is the day that you become what you three have always wanted to be. I will not bother you with a long speech."
The Professor took on an unusually serious tone, sending a small chill down my spine.
The atmosphere suddenly became heavy.
"I want you to know that I see you three as my children, especially Green and Shawn. This world is a dangerous one, and anything can happen. I only advise you to trust and love your Pokemon as if they truly are family... Are you ready?"
After inhaling, the three of us nodded in unison.
Professor Oak then signaled towards the three Pokeballs behind him. A small smile appearing on his aged face.
"Here are the Pokemon that I specifically selected for you three. You may pick one each.
"Now, Shawn. You go first."
"That's not fair!"
Green and Red both shouted at the same time, but with a stern look from the professor, they closed their mouths.
Heh, it seems lady luck has shined on the little me. All those years of aiding him in his research weren't for nothing in the end.
Without thinking much, I made my way towards the one Pokemon I had set my heart on ever since I was a child.
"Charmander. I choose... YOU!"
Saying those words out loud... Goosebumps started to show on my skin, and my hair stood on end.
I picked up the Pokeball, before pressing the small button and throwing it up.
With a bright flash of blue light, a small, orange lizard with flames roaring on its tail appeared in midair.
"CHAR!"
With a loud cry, it landed into my arms. I held it tightly. Refusing to let go.
Charmander and I then looked each other in the eye. It felt as if though it was communicating with me on a deeper, more subconscious level.
[*Beep*
The host received his first Pokemon.
Link established. This Pokemon is now connected to the Host on a special level. It's loyalty and dedication to the Host is 100% Guaranteed. Charmander will grow happier with relative ease.

Oh... How nice... Who cares about that, I have a Charmander now.
Charmander smiled so much that his eyes became slits. It seemed happy to have been picked first.
"Charmander huh. Then I'll go for... Squirtle!" Green didn't even hesitate and went for the dominant type. He really was hyper-competitive.
I just ignored him and focused on my partner.
In a similar sequence to before, Squirtle appeared and landed in his arms.
"HEY! Who said you could go first!"
Red was almost in tears, but resigned himself to his fate and took the remaining ball.
As soon as the little Bulbasaur landed in his arms, it started licking his face. Making us all laugh.
"All right. Now that you have all picked your partners, I will pass a mission on to you."
The professor looked at me, and I nodded in return. We both knew what was coming.
Before proceeding, he took out a box and retrieved three tablet-like objects. One was Green, one was red, and the other was black. (A/N: I chose the gen 6 version because it's my favorite. https://kingriolu.files.wordpress.com/2013/10/gen_vi_pokedex.png?w=300&h=258 )
"This is my new invention... the Pokedex! These are the first three to ever exist, so please take care of them."
He gave us one each. And I, being edgy as usual, got the black one.
"What is it for, Professor?" Red was the first to ask.
"This tool records data from any Pokemon you catch in an instant! You can also use it to identify species in the wild. To make a guide on all the Pokemon in the world... That is my dream! Alas, I am too old now, and can only count on you three."
"Get moving now, this is a great undertaking in Pokemon history!"
I nodded firmly to the professor. I'm going to fulfill that dream of yours, trust me.
After that, there wasn't much talking to be done. We thus left the lab.
Much to our surprise, the whole town was waiting for us, and they cheered us on as we left. Wishing for luck and prosperity on our journey.
Green was unconcerned, while Red started tearing up.
Me? I just gave them all one last look and went on my way. Green and Red quickly parted.
Alright, let's start this thing. Shall we?
I sat down, and picked up Charmander into my arms. Visibly confused, it looked at me weirdly.
"Don't look at me like that... Let's check your moves and stats now, shall we?"
"CHAR!" Letting out a strong cry, It smiled joyfully.
