148 Axel Vs Lance

"What do you think about the battle?", asked Lorelai to Lance.

"I think Axel is not a simple guy. We only thought him to be a great researcher but he is also a good trainer. The league had predicted the same cause he started his journey to be a Pokemon Champion and probably the Pokemon master.", replied Lance.

"What do you mean? He lost to Ryker", asked Lyra. She was confused. Why were they complimenting the guy that lost?

"He battled Ryker's Charmeleon with his and still put up a good fight. He was not even trying to win. I believe that Charmeleon is also not his best Pokemon. I believe that he started with Nidoran. I think you would have a tough fight, Lance. Best of luck", said Lorelai. Lance just nodded and started to move toward the arena.

Meanwhile, Lyra asked, "Who do you think would win this battle?"

Lorelai replied, "Lance."

"Really? You are that confident huh."

"You don't understand. Lance already had won 2nd first gym badge. You do know what it means right" replied Lorelai. Lyra was shocked when she heard this statement. Winning the first gym badge would mean that Lance already had 3 rare ranked Pokemons. She only had 1 rare ranked Pokemon and she was considered a genius in her age group by her family. Ryker also had 1 rare ranked Pokemon but he was more powerful than her. The 2 families had decided to select them only due to their power level compared to the kids their age. But Lance already had 3 rare ranked Pokemons.

This showed how hard-working he was. Having 3 rare ranked Pokemons before the end of 1year was not possible only due to resources. Trainer had to be very hardworking and creative in their approach too.

Lance and Axel were ready for their fight. They were having a staring contest for quite some some time now. Both of them refused to move an inch. Then Lance broke the silence. "You cannot win against me by using the Pokemon of that level."

"Don't worry. I would go serious with you. Why don't we each use our least powerful rare-ranked Pokemon in this battle? I don't want to cause a scene by going all out and we have an island to concur.", suggested Axel.

"That is a good suggestion. I will comply with that.", said Lance and both got ready to throw the Pokeball.

"Go, Gyarados"

"Lets do this, Beedrill"

In just a few seconds, 2 humanoid Pokemons came into view.

Standing on Lance's side were long serpentine Pokemon covered in slightly overlapping scales. It was mostly red with a yellow underbelly and it had a row of yellow spots down each side. Its mouth was very large and gapping, bearing 4 pointed teeth and a yellow lip.

Standing on Axel's side was a Pokemon that mostly resembled a bipedal, green wasp; however, it only had four legs instead of six and lacks pigmented pigs. Its head was round with a slightly pointed mouth, large, blue eyes, and grey antennae with a sharp bend in the middle. Its forelegs were tipped with long, conical stingers. It stood on its other two legs, which were long, segmented, and insectoid in shape. It had two pairs of rounded, veined wings, and another stinger on its green-and-black striped abdomen.

"Wow!! A shiny Gyarados VS a Shiny Beedrill", shouted Lyra.

At first, They didn't realize it seeing the massive size of Gyarados but then they did. The Beedrill was almost half the size of the Gyarados.

"What kind of Pokemon is that?", shouted Ryker. All of them were shocked by the size of the Beedrill. Gyarados was around 22 feet long but Beedrill was also around 10 feet long. They could not imagine what Axel had to do to have just a big Beedrill.

Lance was also surprised by seeing this. Ryker was gritting his teeth in anger. 'So, he was underestimating me and deliberately used a weaker Pokemon', he thought. Ryker also had not used his strongest Pokemon but he knew by seeing Beedrill that even his strongest Pokemon could not beat it.

As of now, Shedinja and Beedrill were close to ranking up but not Nidorino. So, why did Axel use Beedrill even if both of them decided to use the weakest rare-ranked Pokemon? The answer was simple. Nidoran was the starter Pokemon of Axel. And even if it was the weakest of the 3 while comparing the evolution stages, Axel didn't believe so. If Nidorino and Beedrill were to fight to the death, Axel believed that Nidorino would win. Axel just didn't want to believe that his starter Pokemon was the weakest of the 3. He also made a mental note to train Nidorino harder.

For Beedrill it was just another battle that it should win. Axel wanted Beedrill to successfully perform another 'Resolve'. So, he wanted to push Beedrill to fight stronger opponents. That was why Axel didn't use Beedrill, Shedinja, or Nidorino against Ryker. Cause it would not benefit him in any other way.
