Chapter One (Sean's Story): A Grand Adventure Begins

It was a fine summer day in the Unova Region. The sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, and the Pokemon of the region were living out their normal lives. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, showing no signs of a storm at all. It truly seemed to be a beautiful day.

Our story begins in Aspertia City. In the south part of the city, a rather average house could be seen. It was right next to a small body of water. The house had a white colored exterior. The roof of the building was made of tin. This place was home to a single mother and her ten year old son. The mother's name was Alicia. She was in the kitchen. She held onto. a bowl, seemingly mixing some kind of batter. Alicia eventually poured it onto a skillet, making the batter form in a circular shape.

Her son was in his bedroom. He sat at his desk, looking through his bag. He needed to make sure that he had everything. His name was Sean. Sean wore a red hat with a logo representing a Pokeball, a white t-shirt underneath a red vest, and white shorts. Today was a very special day for him: the beginning of his Pokemon adventure. He had two Pokeballs in his jacket. Both were provided by her mother. He was excited to go out and explore the region. His mother, however, didn't feel the same way. She was quite nervous. She went on the same adventure as he did. Alicia had quite a few close calls with both Pokemon and trainers. Although, it has been four years since Team Plasma has been dealt with for good. This helped ease her worries quite a bit.

Sean walked into the kitchen, smiling happily. The straps of his backpack were both over his shoulders. He said to his mother, "Good morning!" Alicia looked over at him. She smiled softly at him. She responded, "Good morning Sean. Did you get everything packed?" Her son walked over to the door. Sean looked back at her before saying, "Yeah Mom. I have everything I need." Alicia nodded her head after hearing this. "Good. Be careful out there. There are a lot of dangerous Pokemon and trainers." Sean groaned after hearing this. He said, "I'll be fine Mom. I'm not a little kid anymore." He walked over to her, immediately pulling her into a hug. His mother hugged him back without hesitation. She said, "Have fun out there, alright?" Sean looked up at his mother. He nodded his head before responding, "I will!" He let go of his mother soon after. After a couple of seconds, he walked out of the door.

Sean looked around for a little bit, gazing upon the city. He was going to miss his home. Although, he would most likely be back every now and then. He began to walk towards the northern exit, smiling happily. The young trainer has been looking forward to this moment since he could remember. He looked over at the Aspertia City gym as he walked down the sidewalk. He thought to himself for a few moments. Sean wasn't sure whether or not he was ready to take it on. He only had two Pokemon on his team so far. He needed to train and catch some Pokemon first. After a few moments, he reached the northern gate. Sean walked through the gate, staring at the billboard as he walked past. Nothing interesting was happening yet. He walked out of the gate, reaching Route 19.

Sean looked around for a few moments, examining the scenery. Route 19 was filled with countless trees and patches of grass. A somewhat large pond could be seen in the middle of the route, leading to a cliff. He began to walk towards the grass, knocking that a Pokemon could be inside. Out of nowhere, a Purrloin walked out of the grass. It stretched its body slightly before laying down on its back. It stared at Sean, seemingly wanting its belly to be rubbed. He chuckled a little bit after seeing this. He walked over to the Purrloin before rubbing its belly. The Purrloin purred as he grinned its belly. However, the true intentions would soon be revealed. Its tail slipped into Sean's backpack. The Purrloin managed to pull out a necklace of some kind. It quickly ran away, still holding onto the necklace. Sean noticed something shining into his eye. He realized what it was. "Hey! Give that back to me!" He called out. At this point, the Purrloin was gone. The ten year old trainer let out a quiet sigh. He said to himself, "Please don't let this day get any worse."

Sean began to walk down the dirt path, still feeling bad about what happened with the Purrloin. He didn't expect it to suddenly steal something of his. He noticed a Patrat sticking its head out of the grass, staring at him. The young trainer smiled a little bit. He said to himself, "That will do!" He pulled out a Pokeball. Sean tossed it into the air, causing a Growlithe to emerge from the capsule. It stared at the Patrat for a few moments. After a couple of seconds, it let out a playful bark. It ran towards the Patrat, jumping around playfully. Sean stood there, not really sure what to say about this. Growlithe began to roll around in the grass. He said to himself, "I should've expected that out of a puppy." He let out a quiet sigh before continuing, "Why couldn't have Mom given me a Fire Stone? It would have been so cool to have an Arcanine!" Growlithe looked back at its trainer, panting a little bit. It ran over to him before letting out another playful bark. Sean pulled out its Pokeball, having the puppy-like Pokemon return. He pulled out another Pokeball. He said to himself, "I wonder what this one is." Sean tossed it into the air. A Lapras emerged from the Pokeball. Sean smiled brightly after seeing the water/ice type Pokemon. "Now that's more like it!" He exclaimed. He stared at the Lapras for a few moments. He has seen photos of his mother and the same exact Pokemon in her room. The ten year old trainer said, "Wait, isn't that Mom's Lapras? Why would she give it to me?" He ignored this thought before yelling out, "Lapras! Use...whatever moves you know!" Lapras began to charge some kind of beam. The area surrounding it began to decrease in temperature. All of a sudden, it fired a beam of pure ice, an Ice Beam attack. The Patrat was immediately knocked out by the attack.

Sean was absolutely shocked by the display in power. He didn't really know what to say. If Lapras was able to beat the Patrat with one shot, then he would most likely be able to take on the gym. He smiled brightly as he ran up to the Pokémon. The new trainer said, "Wow! That was incredible Lapras!" Lapras looked back at its trainer. "Lapras!" It yelled out cheerfully. It nudged him affectionately. He giggled a little bit as he patted the Lapras's back. He said, "With you on the team, there's no way that we will lose!" Sean pulled out the Lapras's Pokeball, making it return. He continued to walk down the dirt path.

This was only the beginning of the long, difficult journey. It would test him in every way possible, both mentally and physically. Some trainers have given up on their dreams of becoming the best in the Unova region. However, Sean was determined to show that he could become one of the greatest trainers of his era. He wouldn't be satisfied until his name went down in history as the Champion of Unova. He was looking forward to meeting more and more people along the way, making friends in the process. Unfortunately, peace doesn't tend to last. He and the rest of the region were unaware of a terrible threat. They were all unaware of a more dangerous and ruthless organization. Only time would tell when Sean encountered these dangerous men and women.
