"Anytime now Grayson" Professor Rowan says blankly

"Sorry, dramatic effect you know. I choose you Piplup!"

Chimchar and Turtwig look defeated either side of a proud looking Piplup, pumping his chest and nodding solemnly as if the new trainer made the greatest decision ever made.

"Don't feel bad you two, you're both very good Pokemon, no doubt a trainer will take you as their partner soon" Grayson enthusiastically says

'As my sister would say no need to worry'

"Good choice lad, now here is Piplup Poke Ball, make sure not to lose it"

"Don't worry Professor I won't, and can we talk about what I mentioned earlier by the way" Grayson asks

"Aha of course, almost slipped my mind, what seems to be troubling you?"

"Professor do you have any contacts in Kanto?"

"Indeed I do, what for though?"

"I thought about it and decided that I will be starting my journey in Kanto, as you know the Indigo League is the closest tournament time wise so I think that it is the most logical plan to start my journey"

"Hmm you are correct, our Lily of the Valley Conference isn't for a while indeed. I see no reason why you can't start your journey in Kanto, I will make a few calls and get you situated. But first have you let your Mother in on this long thought decision of yours?" Professor Rowan says then at the end glances suspiciously

"Hahaha no. I wanted to see whether it was possible before letting my family know. I'm sure they'll be fine with it right?"

"Well you better let them know then, head on back and I will call your Mother when I have a breakthrough on my end, and Happy Birthday by the way"

"Thank you Professor, don't worry I will. And thanks, i'll be waiting for the good news" Grayson says as he picks up Piplup and hastily leaves the lab under the Professors hawk-like gaze.

When he reaches outside he firmly grasps the Poke Ball and smiles 'I still can't believe it' he thinks. Losening the grip on the Ball he turns Piplup to face him, but what meets his sight is a pair of annoyed eyes on the little Penguin. Clearly he disapproves of being hoisted off the table like a and carried in his new trainers arms like a Basketball. Seeing this Grayson realizes his blunder and quickly puts Piplup down with an awkward laugh and scratch behind the head.

"Sorry about that buddy, I just couldn't handle being in that room under his gaze for a second longer haha"

"Piplup" the Penguin Pokemon agrees reluctantly to the apology.

'Damn, didn't even know Piplup could learn some of these moves but here we are, I'm not complaining' Grayson nods approvingly at the stats and moves of his new partner. While contemplating he suddenly hears that oh so familiar sound again.

'Hmm the Poke Balls are a good bonus to the 5 given by the Professor, and with the upgraded ones too in case there is a tough catch, even with my memories I am not too knowledgeable about the currency value so whether 5000 PokeDollars are a lot or not is to be seen. And the Moon Stone is convenient too as I am headed to Kanto after all'

"Well Piplup let's head on home, gonna have to break the news to Mom then we can start our adventure!"

Piplup let go of the attitude at the sound of an adventure, and climbed onto Grayson's shoulder. They made their way back towards Twinleaf Town, all the while bonding. Ever since Grayson was aware of his surroundings this morning he was sure of his pick of Piplup, not only for the reason that his favorite Pokemon is Empoleon, but also with the type coverage that Empoleon gives to a team as out of the three Sinnoh starters he is the one with the least amount of weaknesses when compared to Infernape and Torterra.

He may also be slightly be a Steel type fanboy.

Eventually they both made their way back to the Aqua residence.

"I'm home" he exclaims when he enters.

"Ah Grayson you're back so soon, who did you pick, let me see" His mother dotingly asks when she hears her son in at the front door.

"Heyyyy wait for me!" Dawn excitedly shouts while quick footsteps are heard upstairs.

Glameow only gives a glance at the commotion then resumes it's peaceful sleep.

"Hey buddy this is my family. My Mom and my Sister Dawn, say hi"

"Pip-Piplupp" he waves his fins around happily seeing his new trainers family, over the bonding session they had from travelling from Sandgem Town he had accepted his trainer wholeheartedly and thus is happy to meet the family of his trainer.

"Awww he's adorable!" Dawn shouts with stars in her eyes.

"Very cute indeed, worthy of picking up a ribbon or two in my opinion" His Mother jokes

Both Piplup and Graysons face stiffens at this, they had already gone over their goals on the way here and also discussed his Mothers assumed pressure towards contests. Even though they both know she was joking they could have sworn to be a slight glint of seriousness in her eyes. Weird.

"Oh yeah Mom I have decided to start my journey in Kanto mainly because of the fact that the League over there is much closer to happening so it would make a lot of sense to start my journey over there compared to having to wait a long time for our one here in Sinnoh I already asked Professor Rowan to help me get in touch with some people in Kanto to get my journey started so it will be okay" Grayson releases his nervousness by speaking so quickly the author didn't manage to put in any punctuation whatsoever.

"Haaah I would try to counter your idea but you sound pretty set in stone since you have already asked Professor Rowan but I would have liked to be in the know at least a little"

"Sorry.." Grayson lowers his head at this, even though it has been his soul the entire time in this body from birth, his memories still make it hard to accept his new family lifestyle but now he realizes that he was being selfish.

"No use going against the decision now is there, just make sure to keep in touch every so often okay" His Mother calmly says

Looking up he nods furiously as he is very happy at the approval his Mother has given to his journey to a different region.

After the pleasantries and familial bonding they hear a call in the next room. Johanna answers and gets some more information about Professor Rowans contacts within Kanto, and the name he mentions assures her more now so she can relax a bit.

"Grayson you have a boat to catch" his mother exclaims as she walks back into the living room.

"So soon!?" He couldn't believe the efficiency that Professor Rowan had with his Kanto journey difficulties.

"Yes, it will be quite a long boat journey, and will arrive at place called Pallet Town tomorrow"

'Pallet Town eh, it seems the Professors are more connected that expected'

Later that day Grayson along with Piplup say goodbye to their home region that they are sure they will return to one day, but at that time they will be much, much stronger. They are sure of it!
