4 Chapter 3 - Strange Food and Currency

Third person POV

Later, at 12:22 p.m., they had arrived at that city, hungry and thirsty. They didn't have much; they only what they had in their bags.

"Oh, this is so huge," Ash commented.

He, Rico, and Serena then looked at one of the business signs, but they were not able to read what it says because it was written in Korean.

"I can't read what it says."

 "Yeah, what's that even mean?"

But then, something went to them, and they suddenly able to understand the language, as well as three more: Tagalog, Japanese, and French.

"What? I can read it now," Rico commented.

 "Me too," Serena added.

Then, Ash thinks that the people around them will judge them for having those weird talking toy cars. "Guys, hide your Pokémon. We might get weird looks from other people."

Upon hearing that, Rico and Serena did so, and they shoved their Pokémon mecardimals inside their bags.

Ash did so, too.

Then, a stranger passed by, and Ash asked him, "Excuse me, what city is this?"

"Oh, this is Seoul, kid," the stranger responded.

Ash and his team then get it.

"Thanks, sir," Rico replied back. "

You're welcome," that stranger responded, before going off.

Now knowing where they are, Ash said to them, "Hey, guys, do you want to eat lunch? I'm really hungry."

 "Sure thing," Serena delightfully replied.

 "Me too," Rico added.

And so, all of them went to find a restaurant.

Along the way, they saw the symbol of South Korea's currency, the South Korean won, plastered on price tags, and they didn't have that kind of currency. So, Ash gets his wallet and checks his money, which was converted to US dollars. "Weird, my money looked like this."

He then showed it to his friends.

Seeing that, Rico commented, "Yeah, it's so different from our world."

"I think this world had a place where we can exchange it for this place's currency," Serena suggested.

 "You're right."

Then, luckily for them, they are in front of a currency exchange shop, and when they saw the various currencies at different prices to the Korean won, they entered in to exchange their money to the Korean won.

But when they handed their money to the cashier, the cashier gave them bills in Korean won in high denominations, as well some coins.

Upon seeing the value of it, they were surprised, and Ash looked at the screen of the currency exchange, only to see that the exchange rate between the US dollar to Korean won is seemingly high.

"Um, is your currency that high?" he asked.

"It was like that for a long time," the cashier responded.

 "I see."

They then said thank you to her, and left the shop and to a nearby restaurant a block away.

At that restaurant, they saw that it was busy. Nevertheless, they found a table for four and settled there, before grabbing the two menus to order food and drinks. But they found that the food in that world is weird and strange-looking. For starters, they saw that the meat dishes are a bit peculiar.

"What are these?" Rico commented, while looking at some sandwich dishes.

"This one looks weird," Serena added while pointing at a gimbap dish.

"These might be the ones they eat in this world," Ash responded while sharing a menu with Serena.

He then looked at them. "So, shall we start with sandwiches?"

Rico and Serena then nodded, and they all called a waiter to come to their table.

A waiter noticed that, and went to their table. "Welcome to our restaurant. How can I take your order?"

Then Ash showed the menu to the waiter. "Three plates of grilled...ham sandwiches with cheese, please."

Jotting their order, the waiter responded, "Okay, three plates of grilled ham sandwiches with cheese. For drinks?"

"We'll have 3 glasses of water, please," Rico replied.

"Okay, okay, I'll be back." He then left their table.
