8 Arrival and First

For the past two days due to having nothing to do but pick the occasional berry or herb, Drake decided to scroll through his store to see if he saw anything interesting and he did. He saw a tab amongst the various tabs in there labeled ' Evolutionary Items' where he saw all of the necessary items for Pokémon evolution, from Metal Coats to Electrizers, there were the various stones and even the more exclusive items like the various scales and even some fruits. they weren't cheap but they weren't too expensive either, Metal Coats were relatively cheap at $10,000 each considering that they help Pokémon evolve and grow stronger it wasn't a bad deal.

After a short conversation with Wrath who heard that the Metal Coat would make it grow stronger immediately agreed without a second thought. After berating Wrath for not thinking things through he bought a brush from his store and used it to paste on the metal coat, after an hour of painting every square centimeter of Wrath's body except it's eyes he told it to do some light exercises to make sure everything went well he did as he was told.

Wrath ran, swung it's scythes and flew short distances and after a short while both Drake and Wrath noticed that wrath started slowing down, but he was also starting to glow. Stopping his exercises, Wrath landed and felt the urge to ball up and sleep, getting the okay to sleep from Drake, Wrath fell asleep in a ball before the glowing light around him turned into a cocoon made of light that encased Wrath. Recalling Wrath's cocoon back into it's Pokéball Drake left the boundary of Viridian forest and walked 15 miles before setting foot inside Pewter City.

Finally amongst civilization again Drake took his time strolling along the various streets of Pewter City where he noticed that he was turning a lot of heads. Checking his appearance in the Equipment section of his system that showed up as a 3D model his current appearance in his H.U.D. he didn't notice anything off. He was clean and there was no tears or stains on his clothes he concluded that it was his appearance and style that garnered the attention. The wavy blonde hair, grey eyes and the leather jacket and his 6 foot tall physique, portrayed the image and feel that he was a bad boy, the kind that fathers had nightmares about. Drake was no saint, after realizing that was the case his suppressed desires started running rampant, he scanned the crowd before he spotted a woman who looked like she was in her late 20's and chose her.

After starting a conversation with her and asking her out for a meal, she offered to cook for him at her place which he accepted. There was no food though, after she closed the door behind them she immediately jumped him, this was why Drake preferred women over girls, they're more decisive. After two hours and three rounds for Drake, he got dressed and left while she was still recovering, thirty points of Endurance works wonders in ALL aspects.

After making sure he had everything he did before he entered her apartment, he made his way to Pewter City's Gym to register for the Indigo League. He had to make sure everything was there because Team Rocket was running rampant currently, if they had the audacity to try to rob a Pokémon Center there was no telling what lengths they'd go to. Making it to the Gym before they closed, he registered for the Indigo League and asked for the first appointment he could get for his Gym battle which turned out to be two days later.

[ Quest Unlocked ]

[ Defeat Brock and earn your first Gym badge]

[ Rewards: 6 free stat points, Trainer rank upgrade and 1treasure map.]

Slightly shocked by the amount of stat points for the reward. He asked Athena about it and she responded.

[ Even if you bring all of your physical stats to their maximum amount you still won't be able to beat any truly strong Pokémon in a confrontation. Your physical and intellect stats are there to keep you alive. Nothing else, but they will affect your offspring though they'll grow to be stronger and smarter than others. ]

' That makes me feel conflicted though, higher survivability for me and my future children but the above average stats won't grant me much advantages. Still a bonus though, i'm not gonna worry about it anymore though. One cheat is enough.'

Finished with the registration and appointment setting, Drake made his way to Pokémon Center where he gave his Pokémon to Nurse Joy (they indeed all lookalike) for a checkup and got a room for the night. Drake then took a bath then called video called home where Nina answered, She asked how his journey was going so far and if be caught any new Pokémon, they chatted for a while with Drake asking how things were at home before his mother pushed Nina out of the way to talk to Drake. He soon found himself calming her down when he saw tears forming in her eyes, after repeatedly assuring her that he and his Pokémon were eating fine and they were all healthy he then promised to talk to her everyday until he left Pewter City he finally got her to hang up so he could go sleep.

Two days passed quickly and it was finally time for his first Pokémon battle, arriving at the gym he made his way to the battlefield where he saw Brock waiting for him. ' So Ash hasn't reached yet, sigh. He and Misty are probably lost. ' Not thinking to much on the subject he listened as the judge explained the rules, the match was a two vs two where only the challenger could switch Pokémon. After instructing Drake to release his Pokémon first, Drake asked an important question first " How does the betting work, do you pay out a certain amount if you loose or do you establish a set amount first? As we're on the subject how does the payout work after normal battles?."

Brock and the judge were shocked. Brock then asked " You've never battled anyone before?" "Nope" Drake responded. Brock then asked again " Are you sure you want to challenge me then, wouldn't you like to get some more experience first." " Nah I'm good thanks." Drake said nonchalantly. Brock sighed then explained that the minimum amount for a battle between was $1000 and the maximum was $10,000 and that the payout was different at gyms depending on how much gym badges the challenger has. In Drake's case as he had no badges the maximum payout would be $20,000 and he would have to cough up $10,000 if he went with the max amount and lost. Quickly deciding on the maximum amount Drake then urged the judge to announce the start of the battle.

After Brock chose two Pokéballs he nodded to the judge who then announced the beginning of the match. Drake then released Prometheus who upon being released looked around curiously and seeing the Rock battlefield he remembered what Drake explained to him about Pokémon battles and looked to Brock expectantly. For some reason Brock felt a chill, shaking it off he sent out a lvl 19 Geodude and then said " This is a Rock type gym, your Charmeleon may be strong but it's still at a disadvantage." He then went on to spiel about Rock type Pokémon and their strength and so on for about 5 minutes before realizing that Drake was completely uninterested.

Slightly angry he instructed his Geodude to use Rollout on Prometheus, before Drake could issue a command, Prometheus charged headfirst at Geodude at top speed and then used Metal Claw on it. After a brief collision, Brock's Geodude was sent flying, crashing through four man sized boulders . After the dust settled the judge announced that it was unable to battle, happy with it's first victory, Prometheus ran towards Drake for a fistbumb where he got one and some light berating for attacking without waiting for instructions. Slightly downcasted Prometheus got another fistbumb which cheered it up, Brock then realized that he was played, he had some suspicions when he saw the Charmeleon but seeing the type advantage he attributed it to Drake's luck that he evolved his Charmander and that he was high off the lucky streak he was on.

Brock then release his final Pokémon, an Onix, his best Onix at lvl 22, Drake then told Prometheus to stay next to him while he released Dratini. When Brock saw the Dratini he realized how badly he was played, taking a closer look at Drake's two Pokémon he saw that the were much bigger than others of the same species he realized that the trainer in front of him was no amateur. Looking at the size and the shine of their scales, they ate high quality food and specialized Pokéblocks everyday, sighing to himself he told his Onix to use Rock Throw, Drake told Dratini to dodge then use Rain Dance which it successfully did. Waiting for the rain to fall a while longer, Drake watched as Onix found it harder to keep itself upright, seeing the moment arrive he told Dratini to use Water Pulse, Dratini then fired a ball of water that exploded on Onix's midsection and heavily damaging it. Seeing Onix still conscious Drake told Dratini use Water Pulse again but to aim for the head this time, which it did rendering Brock's Onix unconscious.

Not at all shocked about loosing, Brock paid Drake and gave him his first badge. The Boulder Badge, storing the badge in the Indigo coloured badge case be bought from his system he put the case in his jacket pocket. After asking Brock to deliver a message to Ash when he arrived for his gym battle which stated ' You're way too slow idiot, you're the last one.' written on a piece of paper. Drake then left the gym to go call home and share the good news. When...
