17 Annoyance and First

Drake's travel took him through HopHopHop Town, Scissor Street, Gringy City and Diglett Hills before he got to Fuchsia City.

Nothing special happened at any of the aforementioned locations. Drake traveled a bit slower than usual so he could train his Pokémon some more.

He managed to bump almost all of them up 5 levels. Prometheus only saw a two level increase because one day he encountered a Pokémon in a thunder cloud and left it injured.

Zeus took two weeks to finish his evolution and it was well worth it. He came out vastly stronger than before.

His body went from being serpentine in form to being a Dragon humanoid form and his body color changed from blue to Orange except his underside which remained the same color. All aspects of his performance saw varying levels of growth.

Drake noticed something about his Pokémon along the way. Specifically in Scissor Street, his Pokémon were strong and strong looking but they weren't good looking.

Other than cleaning them he didn't really make any effort to help them aesthetically. So he started making custom Poffins and taking some time to clean and polish them.

When he saw how much they liked the treatment he decided to do it more often. Andromeda liked it the most but her care was also the most time consuming.

When Drake almost arrived at Fuchsia City he noticed a Pokémon following him. It was a Venonat, Drake knew that this Venonat was Koga's.

He knew that this Gym would be one of the most annoying Gyms to challenge. There's nothing wrong with having a themed Gym but at least let your theme be relevant to your specialty element.

He just sighed and proceeded into Fuchsia City, he wasted no time and went to the Gym and issued his challenge.

Apparently this Gym did keep reservations, you just had to find Koga and challenge him. It might seem easy but Drake knew that most of Gym consisted of traps.

Drake just went ahead and stepped through the doors next to the reception area. When looked inside he saw a relatively plain room and Koga sitting in the middle meditating.

Drake stepped forward and and when he was about to complete his fourth step he felt the tile sink. A hole opened up in the wall to his right and a dart was fired from within.

Drake knew the place was booby trapped so he was on guard and tilted his body and dodged the dart. He was a bit shocked when he saw how ruthless these traps were.

He walked forward taking each step carefully but he still managed to stumble into an 'invisible' wall. Turns out that wasn't Koga meditating in the center of the room.

It was a wall painted with high quality paint and skill that gave off an optical illusion. Drake walked to his right while running his hand along the wall.

When he finally found the walls end and looked behind it he saw several 'Kogas'. Several copycats dressed like Koga but only one was real.

Drake looked at all 'Kogas' and chose one, he was the only one actually meditating and not actively wishing Drake would choose him. Though the copycats were all identical minus one fat Koga who was in visible agony at not being able to eat.

This one was truly calm and prepared, Drake stepped forward and walked into a glass wall. He was thoroughly pissed off, he was tempted to have Prometheus burn a path straight to Koga but he had a more devious plan instead.

He spent 20 minutes walking along the glass walls before he finally managed to make his way towards the real Koga.

His speculation was indeed correct, Koga laughed and said " Haha you are indeed a worthy opponent, but in the end you shall fall before my formidable ninjutsu. My Pokémon and I shall show you that the traditional ways are still powerful."

After he said that he nodded towards the referee who announced the start of the battle. Drake sent out Horus and Koga sent out an Ariados at level 45.

Drake was a bit shocked to see a Pokémon indigenous to Johto here in Kanto but not too shocked. Koga did eventually join the Elite Four of Johto and Kanto.

Drake didn't waste any time and had Horus use Sandstorm, Horus' Sandstorm was at level 11 at this stage it dealt substantial damage to Pokémon and even their trainers if they were too close.

Drake reached into his inside jacket pocket and took out a pair of Go-Goggles that he equipped. He was struggling to hold back his smirk, the raging Sandstorm would activate Horus' Ability Sand Stream and as an added bonus scratch up Koga's invisible walls.

Horus then used Bulldoze that did average damage due to Ariados' type combination. But Horus followed it up with Dig that did substantially more damage.

While Ariados was still airborne Horus finished it off with a well timed Dual Chop. The chain of events shocked Koga, he didn't expect Drake to use a move like Sandstorm in an enclosed space.

Just as he was about to call out a move for his Ariados he saw it tumbling its way towards him unconscious.

Even though he couldn't see Drake he felt like he was smirking at him, mocking him. But Koga didn't lose his cool, he recalled his Ariados and said " Let's do some damage Forretress."

Koga sent out a level 48 Forretress, because of its typing Forretress wouldn't suffer any damage during the Sandstorm.

But that wasn't the reason Koga chose this Pokémon, he chose it because of the move Koga called out next.

" Forretress use Explosion." Drake was shocked by Koga's resolve but he wasn't worried too much because he trained his Pokémon well.

When Horus heard the word 'Explosion' he put himself on guard and when he saw the dazzling lights he immediately used Protect.

He didn't hesitate, Drake told him to always use Protect when he heard that word and saw the light. So he did as he was taught, but this Forretress was at a higher level than him and his Explosion was apparently at the highest level.

The impact came but it was way stronger than Drake or Horus expected, Horus' Protect was on the brink of breaking so he drew for energy within him.

He reached deep and found energy but it wasn't the energy he was hoping for. He triggered an early evolution, this was usually news that called for celebration but in this situation it only called for worry.

Drake was unaware of the possible disaster occurring, he was shielding himself from the blast. Horus realized the danger he was in and used all the energy he had to weather the blast.

The shockwave passed and it razed most of the battleground and dispersed the Sandstorm. Drake dusted himself off and looked for his Pokémon.

When he saw Horus in the middle of an evolution his heart made its way to his throat. After the Zeus fiasco he decided he wasn't going to force anymore early evolutions.

But apparently the universe didn't want that, luckily Horus pushed through. This was the fastest evolution Drake ever saw, in just thirty seconds Horus evolved from a Gabite into a Garchomp.

He was now 7 and a half feet tall, the fins on his forearms grew longer and stronger, his head became flatter and a bit wider and his tail grew longer.

A yellow star appeared on his forehead and and some yellow scales on his lower abdomen. He looked a lot stronger and way more ferocious than before.

He looked a bit tired so Drake asked him " You wanna swap out?" and all he got in response was a ferocious roar. Drake then whispered " Sheesh, there goes that famous Dragon temper. " Drake just sighed and said to him " You better win then." Which elicited him a nod in confirmation.

Koga was bewildered so he asked Drake " How is he still standing, Forretress' Explosion should have blown him into last week." Drake shrugged and said " You told Forretress to use Explosion, He heard the incoming move and prepared and blocked it. "

Koga wanted to say more but the Garchomp before him was roaring and scratching at the floor with its feet looking like it would charge at him if he didn't release a Pokémon.

Koga's remaining Pokémon were, a Muk, a Venomoth and a Crobat. So he made the most sensible choice and sent out his level 51 Crobat.

" Come on out Crobat! " Koga shouted. Koga's Crobat came out and Horus immediately used Sandstorm, but this time the Sandstorm was a lot stronger.

Koga didn't hesitate once again and said " Crobat use Agility." Crobat did as told and immediately used Agility. Crobat's Agility was maxed out just like Forretress' Explosion.

After 20 seconds it's speed was maxed out, Koga then said " Follow it up with Double Team." which was also maxed out. Crobat used Double team and several closes of itself appeared in the Sandstorm.

It was a smart move but Horus saw through it easily, he started flying around in the Sandstorm building up speed. Then he started passing through a few of the clones before he used Dragon Claw on the original.

Crobat wanted to dodge but Garchomp was faster due to it's ability and because it also knew exactly which Crobat was real thanks to the protuberances on both sides of its head.

Koga just saw blurs amidst the Sandstorm and just as he was about to tell his Crobat to use Supersonic, he saw it come barreling out.

Koga sighed at this loss and recalled his Crobat. He then said " Get'em Venomoth!" His Venomoth was at level 47. Instead of using a stat raising move at the beginning, this time he told Venomoth to use Supersonic.

He was feeling a bit confident in this tactic, until he saw his Venomoth drop in front of him with a huge bite mark on its body.

Seeing his Pokémon lose one by one to a single Pokémon Koga wasn't happy. He sent out his Final Pokémon, Muk (level 46).

Muk fell in the midst of the Sandstorm and looked a bit stupid to be honest. Horus for some reason was in a hurry and immediately started digging.

While Horus was digging Muk used Minimize several times until he was the size of a Pichu. Horus found his way beneath Muk and used Dig, the force from the move sent Muk into the air.

But it wasn't down for the count yet, while he was airborne he fired a Gunk Shot that hit Horus on the chest. The move didn't do much damage but did manage to poison Horus.

Angered, he jumped and used Dragon Claw to knock Muk out. Horus landed back on the ground, dispersed the Sandstorm and roared loudly in victory.

Then he fainted, still standing. Drake saw the weird pose Horus was in so he approached him and saw that he was unconscious.

Koga walked up to Horus curious why Drake was so surprised. He was going to ask something when he heard Drake say to him " Huh, this is first time one of my Pokémon has fainted. "

I'll be dropping to 6 chapters a week, I've noticed that when I try writing on my days off it takes a lot longer to write a chapter, because of all the distractions at home. I hope you all take this news well.
