The Fly
Once upon a midnight a dreary, while I pushed at my bedtime bleary
As my energy seeps, nearly exhausted, there came a buzzing
of an atrocious knocking, knocking on my ceiling light
'tis a visitor, crashing on my ceiling light
'twas this as the sound baffles into the night
...
and the fly, never ceasing, constantly abuzzing,
abuzzing at my ceiling light
landing on the white canvas of the wall, just above my floor
with its eyes, disoriented as if possessed
and the bulb, shining brightly in protest
and my displeasure of that sound, trying to chase it out
and into the night, the silence will forever be ringing about
