5 Not Your Person

"Have a seat, nameless one."

Ghost swiped off all the objects on her makeshift table and patted the empty platform.

Wang Fang sat down without a word.

"You look like her…" Ghost carefully studied Wang Fang's features.

"Her?"

"The commander."

Wang Fang felt intimidated by the occasional glinting of Ghost's glasses. Her somber expression coupled with her muted colors made Wang Fang think of a corpse.

"What do you want to know?" Ghost leaned back, her complexion turning paler with every passing second.

"Are you okay?"

"Of course not, not of us are. As the commander continues to grow weaker, she drags us all down with us."

"What's wrong with your commander?"

"Not just our commander, she is in charge of you as well. " Ghost paused. She swayed for a bit before steadying herself by holding on to the table.

Her eyes no longer seemed as sharp as before. Looking a bit dazed, Ghost stared at Wang Fang.

"You look like the commander..."

"You said that already."

"Did I?" Ghost paused. She looked down at her hands.

Wang Fang waited for Ghost. They sat in silence as Ghost's breathing became rapid.

"C-commander, what should I do?" Ghost finally looked up, her dazed eyes looking ever more unfocused than ever.

"Ghost, I'm not your commander." Wang Fang furrowed her eyebrows in confusion.

"Commander? What are you saying? You're the commander!" Ghost frantically sputtered. She began to advance towards Wang Fang at an alarming speed.

Wang Fang brushed off Ghost and retreated a distance away.

"Ghost, are you alright?"

Ghost's eyes cleared as she shook her head.

"I haven't been quite the same since the commander abandoned her role."

She sat down again while Wang Fang opted to stay standing. Wang Fang shifted around as she watched Ghost pick up various objects. Ghost's efforts were wasted, for the objects crumbled apart the moment she held them in her hands. They broke into smaller and smaller pieces the more she attempted to hold them together.

Ghost finally gave up, sitting beside the pile of now rubble. She muttered in distress. Wang Fang was able to catch a few words here and there such as "relationships" and "broken." She stood off to the side, leaving Ghost deep in her thoughts.

Wang Fang was contemplating the idea of leaving Ghost alone when she was shocked by a single tear dripping down the side of Ghost's face. The striking ice eyes dulled to an ash grey. "There's nothing left."

The bizarre landscape of technology began to shake and crumble. It turned a searing red from heat, melting as it crumbled.

Wang Fang was taken off guard by the sudden development and tried to pull Ghost away from the landscape only to get burned by the despairing figure. Ghost tearlessly sobbed as her straight back crumpled. Realizing that there was nothing to be done, Wang Fang retreated and ran from the center. Only after finding herself standing on the plain grey space did she stop to look back.

Ghost melted along with all her electronics, leaving behind nothing a ghastly wail made with her last breath. The echoes of the wail revealed her pain and faded away to nothing as well.

"I'm sorry, Ghost."

Wang Fang couldn't help but feel as if she had done something terrible to the girl.

~Bai Min's Living Room~

Bai Min walked to see Wang Fang slumped on the couch. She smiled warmly, reassured by Wang Fang's presence. It was just like the old times. Wang Fang was stretched out in the same way she used to lay. Similar to a domineering cat boss. Bai Min's heart melted at the scene. Wang Fang had no way of noticing, but the couch she slept on was the same one from the lounge they often spent their time in.

Bai Min slowly walked to Wang Fang's side. She trod lightly, not daring to disturb the slumbering angel.

When Bai Min was finally in front of Wang Fang, she lowered herself to eye level. Bai Min breathed as quietly as she could. She had observed Wang Fang many times before but never had her idol ever looked so delicate. Even while resting, she was always the definition of composure.

The current her was so frail that it seemed as if a single touch could break her. Bai Min's hand shook as she reached out. For once, Wang Fang appeared human. Bai Min hesitated for a moment. Seeing Wang Fang's brows furrow, Bai Min gently uncreased them. She took a seat beside Wang Fang and redirected Wang Fang's head to her lap.

Noticing Wang Fang's accelerating breath and her once again furrowing brows, Bai Min began to stroke her head. "So it seems that even angels get nightmares."

Bai Min's heart ached at the sight of Wang Fang's pain. She never ceased her rocking, attempting to soothe Wang Fang.

. . .

Wang Fang came to again, this time without being shocked by the familiar face. The warm amber eyes were gently shut, the owner's face dangerously close to Wang Fang's.

Wang Fang took in a breath, Bai Min's overflowing hair tickled her nose. She discovered that she was clamped between this beautiful girl's legs and face. A familiar heat invaded her face. Wang Fang stiffened up as she felt Bai Min's breath on her face. The girl's face was relaxed over Wang Fang's. Even up close, Wang Fang could not spot any flaws save for a beauty mark under her eye. Even then, the beauty mark only added to her exquisite looks.

Bai Min emitted a gentle aura, like the undying kindness shown towards Wang Fang earlier in the morning. Wang Fang couldn't help but study the girl's face. She couldn't help but stare without restraint, taking this opportunity to satisfy her eyes.

"...mhm." Bai Min slowly opened her eyes, finding that she had leaned forward so much in her sleep that she was nearly touching noses with Wang Fang. Bai Min was shaken awake by this new knowledge. She immediately sat up, putting distance between their faces.

When she was able to calm her heart, she noticed Wang Fang's sparkling eyes on her. Bai Min smiled in an attempt to break the awkward air. She followed up with a basic conversation starter, "How was your nap?"

"I had an interesting dream." Wang Fang smiled back, understanding Bai Min's cue to ignore the previous situation. She removed her head from Bai Min's lap but felt a bit of regret. The other girl didn't seem to mind if she had just stayed down.

Bai Min was quiet for a bit. She hesitated before asking, "Was it about the past?"

Wang Fang shook her head, "It was about some old ghosts."

Bai Min glanced off disheartened. She turned back to Wang Fang and held her hands. "It's alright, you're still Wang Fang."

Wang Fang forced herself to smile despite the growing hole in her heart. She's caught all of Bai Min's looks. There was no room for her here, for she knew that she was not Bai Min's Wang Fang.
