Chapter 2: Dramatic Ice Breaking

I woke up early this morning and got ready to go to campus. After what happened yesterday, I was so excited and I can't wait to meet him again. I rummaged through my clothes in the closet and I thought about which one I wanted to wear. Then, I saw his sweater hanging beside my closet.

I suddenly remember what happened yesterday and I was embarrassed. That was our first meeting and the situation was already messed up!

I just pick a black t-shirt and denim mini skirt without wasting time. Then, I tied up my long hair with a red scarf. After being satisfied with my look, I go out of my room.

I looked around to find my dad. I check at his room and he is not in there too. I went to the kitchen and I saw some food on the table and a little note on it. He just wrote that he has to go out to work early and ask me to eat my breakfast.

I just smiled after reading his note. He still cares about me even though he is busy with his work. Since my mom passed away when I was five years old, he is the only one I have until now. I felt grateful to have him as my father.

As soon as I arrived at my campus, I straight away went to the cafeteria. I have already promised my friends that we meet there. When I reached there, I saw there were already many students having their breakfast. I keep looking around and find out where both of them are.

Then, I heard someone calling out my name. I turn back and saw both of them already line up to buy breakfast. We waved at each other and told them from afar that I would find an empty table for us.

I walk around and tried to find the empty table. I keep walking until the end and suddenly, I come across some of my seniors. The next table beside them was empty. I want to go there but I was scared. It's because he was in there too!

I just walk by them and quickly walk away from there. But, suddenly one of them was calling out my name. I don't know who was calling me by my name but I just hope that was not him.

''Lilian Casey!''

I was startled. I stop my walk step and slowly turn my back. ''Err-uh....me??'' I looked at them and all of them were looked at me directly. I was nervous at that time.

''Yes, you. You are Lilian Casey right?'' Brent said in a cold voice.

''Or you want to change into ''Clap Girl''?'' Darren interrupted jokingly. All of them laughed. I smile awkwardly there.

Brent gives a fierce gaze to them and they immediately stop laughing. I just stood stiffly there as I was shocked too when seeing his gaze like that. I didn't know that his gaze was so scary like that.

''Lilian, just come and take a seat. There were empty here.'' Grey said gently.

''Um...I have my friends there...''

''It's okay, just bring them here,'' Grey replies and grins.

After a few minutes, Lexi and Andrew arrived. We just take our seats beside them. I can feel that both Lexi and Andrew were looking at me suspiciously. They keep looking at our senior and then looking at me.

''Lily...'' Lexi whispering

''What?''

''How come you find our table next to our senior? They are our student council! Anyway, it feels good because they were handsome!'' Lexi said excitedly.

''Lexi...shh!''

''I can't believe that we are close next to them. But, Lily...why do I feel that our senior Brent keeps looking at you? Did he interested in you? Or...!''

''Lexi! Don't talk nonsense.''

''I noticed about that too,'' Andrew said casually while eating his meal. He quietly listened to them too.

''Andrew, you! Just keep quiet both of you and finished your meals faster.''

Then, Grey come closer to us and talk with us. I can tell that he is a friendly person. He asked us about our course and he share also his experience on that campus. Sometimes, I secretly take a glance at him. I don't know why but...I feel something connection between us.

When Lexi and Andrew were busy chatting with Grey, I stood up and tried to talk with Brent about his sweater on me. I just want to tell him that I will give it to him later. I slowly walked toward them and both of our eyes gazed at each other.

I walk nervously toward them and suddenly, one girl was coming there toward us. She was calling Brent warmly. I just stop my step in the middle and I cant continue my words when I saw her coming.

It is Riana. She is our senior too and also she is the only girl in the student council group. She has that beautiful face and with her slim tall figure, I was stunned too by her looks.

''Brent, there you are. I was looking for you.''

''What?''

''We have to go now. The orientation will be started shortly.''

''Oh, okay.''

''Did you just call out for Brent only? How about me, Stefan and Grey?'' Darren teases her.

''All of you too...'' She said blushingly.

Then, all of them burst into laughter. I can see that they have a good relationship among them. With Riana's beautiful smile, I guess she must have been liked by many people.

After seeing them want to leave there, I quickly walk away from there and return to my place. But, when all of them were leaving, Brent came back again and go to our table. He gives me yoghurt and put it in front of me and left.

I was surprised. Lexi and Andrew too. After he left without words and just give me a yoghurt, Lexi and Andrew started teasing me.

''Woo...! Senior Brent give you that yoghurt!'' Lexi said excitingly.

''I think he likes you,'' Andrew said.

''No. He may be...maybe...''

''Maybe what??'' Lexi chuckles.

''I'm a guy too! I know it.'' Andrew said.

''I don't want to waste my time listening to your two nonsense talks. Let us go. Our orientation will be started soon.''

Both Lexi and Andre just laugh and continually tease her. But, at the same time, I was confused by his behaviour toward me. I admit that I was touched by that but...I wondering about him.

I have many things curious about him. I want to know him closely but I worried if he just only plays with me. When I look at the way Riana talks to him, I guess...they maybe have something between them.

On that day, we began our orientation. And this orientation will be held for around two weeks. This means, I only can see him in these two weeks and after that, I don't know what will happen. I don't know if I have a chance to meet him again.

Before starting our orientation activities, we were divided into a few groups. All students were mixed into a group with different faculty. And each group will be led by some seniors.

Coincidentally, I was in the same group as him. He was our leader. I don't know if this is called fate or not. Anyway, I have to control myself and I promise to myself to not waver in front of him. After all, I have to endure these feelings until two weeks.

Luckily, in that group, I have met a new friend. Both Lexi and Andrew are also in a different group. As usual, the first activity we have to do on that day was ice-breaking. This first activity is very much liked by everyone because, by this time, everyone will get to know you better.

Truly, I don't want to know anyone but only him. I want to know about him only!

Each group has to prepare something to do a presentation about their group. Our group discussed together what we want to do and I can say that all of my teams like music. And most of them want to do a short musical. Anyway, I had to agree and follow them.

After that, one by one group has presented their performance and its time for our group turn. I was nervous. I was shy too. This is the first time I do these things. The things are, all of my teams ask me to sing a few songs and they will do the acting.

From behind, Brent was standing while crossing his arms and watching them. For a moment, all of the students there were amazed by Lilian's voice. The moment she starts singing, all of them were clapping their hands and they enjoy their performance.

Brent just smiled seeing her sing in front there. After that, they go to their second activity for the ice breaking. For this time, the activities will include the seniors too. All the freshie was screaming happily because they want to see their senior performances too.

One by one they show their performances and they show a different performance that was funny, and it was very happening. Until the next run was a Brent. All freshie was looking forward to Brent's performance because he is very famous among a girl students.

At that time, I was sitting there and I look at him. I wonder too what performance he wants to show to us. I saw most of them were ready with their phone and ready to record their performance.

And of course, I was one of them. I secretly take out my cellphone and when I want to start the recording, my battery phone was low. I was upset and when I went to find out my portable charger, it was not there. I just remember that Lexi borrowed it earlier.

''Ugh! Lexi!'' I said while giving a sharp glare at Lexi from afar.

Just like that, I only listen to him for that time and I didn't have a chance to record it. I just sat there with a sad heart.

Then, they do another activity that will include all freshie and the senior acting together. They will give out the random situation and whoever name was picked up inside the bottle must do their act together.

After what happened earlier, I was not in a mood to anticipate the next activities. I was just downhearted sitting there. Besides that, I saw Riana and Brent were together all the time. It makes my heart more in grief.

All of a sudden, I was startled when my name was called out. And Brent too! What happens? Why my name was called out?? After they called my name a few times, I slowly stood up.

All of them were looking at me directly and my eyes stop at Lexi and Andrew. I bite my lips and I stand grinning there. Both Lexi and Andrew laugh too with their hand covered in their mouth.

Both I and Brent come out and walk in front. I look at him but he just shows a cool face. He just casually smiles there. But, right now my heart feels to jump out. I don't know what should I do there. Then, the host gives us situations to act out.

They give us a few scripts and we had to act together and had to act exactly like the script. If we didn't follow exactly as they want, they will give us the punishment. The punishment is I have to ask for around a hundred signatures from our seniors at the campus.

After knowing the punishment, I was scared. I have to do this with good. They give us a random movie script and in a minute, we had to act according to it. I looked at him with a puzzle and he just shows his calm face.

When thinking about the punishment, I had to force myself to act with him. I have to act like his mother and he is my son. Ugh! It's so unbelievable!

Then, we started our act performances and everything was smooth until the second part when I'm as his mother, I have to leave him forever. It was a sad part...

I tried to deepen my character and I didn't realize that I was saying a different script. I suddenly feel a little sad at that time because I suddenly thinking about my mom. There was some word I want to say to her for a long time...

''Can you tell me...tell me that you love me? I miss you all this time...mom...'' I suddenly said those words and I didn't realize that my tears were falling.

''Lilian...are you okay?'' Brent asks worriedly.

''Uh-um...I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I can't proceed with this act.'' I said and hurriedly walk away from there.

After what happened today, I was downhearted. I suddenly missed my mom. I don't know what I have done today. I lie down on my bed and pensively look at my ceiling up there.

Then, I get up and take a seat at my table. My table was facing toward the window and I can see a view. I open a little my window and let the soft wind come into my room. At that moment, I feel that someone was looking at my rooms down there.

I peeked out a little and look down there but it is nothing. Maybe it is just my feeling only. That night, I just wrote something in my notebook while thinking about someone...

Thusly, both Lilian and Brent's connection just began...Lilian didn't realize that she has to lead his feeling gradually toward her. There was something that she will know when she becomes closer to him...
