8 It was a long day...

Two years that had passed by and Alex Fraser had never been the same since then. He used to be someone who could quickly get along with other. Now he is just someone who prefers to stay at home.

Melanie has no friends, no family, and the only person she had was her father whom he had killed by accident. It had been two years, and he still thinks about her. There would be no one that could replace her in his heart because he had honestly do love her.

Alex would often remember the time when he would come by the dental office to wait for her. Although he was investigating a case, however, he still tried his best to make time for her.

Those memories of Melanie's smile and her sweet and sensual appearance was imprinted in his heart. At night time he would have nightmare. That her beautiful sweet smile would suddenly became a evil grin. The endless torture of his body and soul had made him fear many woman. Especially ones that had a incomparable beauty.

Two years, and still no girlfriend. His best friend and ex-partner, Lucas Smith worries about him. After he had to find out about the entire story from the media, he too felt shocked.

Lucas had met Melanie once while she was out on a date with Alex. He too felt like she was such a beauty. However, he was utterly shocked to find out about her. Alex had shut himself off from the world, and Lucas felt like he was the reason for introducing the case to him.

The days goes on, and Lucas felt like it had been long enough, "Alex, I think it's time you should consider dating again."

"Why you ask that? I'm fine the way I am." He replied. They were on the phone together. Lucas wanted him to get out, and have some fun. However, Alex refused as he only wanted to stay indoor for a while.

Alex had been investing his savings on stocks and other investing methods. Alex could be considered to be someone well-off. He doesn't need to go to work, or take on any more jobs. Alex could live luxuriously with his investments.

Even with money, Alex still felt like a piece of his heart was missing. Alex knew inside his heart there could never be anyone that he could trust again. After so long, Lucas really wanted to get him outside. "Please! Alex for me! I need a wing man!"

After pushing Alex for about two hours on the phone. Finally, Alex had agreed to go out with him. The two head to a restaurant for some drinks. There Alex had met a girl by the name, Lauren Stevens.

Lauren Stevens is a very pretty girl, a waitress at the restaurant. Her smile was very captivating as she greeted them. "Hello! My name is Lauren, and I will be your waitress for the evening. Would you like any drinks?"

Lauren has a beautiful smile as she takes their orders, and for the rest of the night. Alex and Lucas enjoyed their simple hangout together.

Lauren is nothing like Melanie. Lauren has light blond hair and blue eyes. Melanie has dark hair and hazel brown eyes. The two of them are both just as beautiful, yet, so different in many ways. It was something different for Alex.

For the entire meal, Alex and Lucas talk about her beauty. Lucas could tell that Alex had taken a liking to Lauren. He could tell from the way Alex take a glance at her now and then.

Lucas went over to Lauren and told her how Alex thinks she is charming and they had been talking about her all night.

"Look, my friend Alex over there. He's been through a lot and is kind of shy around girls now. I have a feeling that you like him too. Maybe you can help him get out of his shell. Only if you like him too."

Lauren looks over at Alex, and she too felt has a little crush on the man. Alex is a very handsome man. Lauren smiled at Lucas and told him. "Yeah, your friend is hot."

Before Alex and Lucas leave the restaurant, Lauren went over to give Alex her number. "Call me!" and then she winked at him.

Their evening meal was simple, and sure enough. Alex had finally taken the first step out of his fear of women. A few days went by, and it took a lot of courage for Alex to call Lauren up for a date.

It was Lauren's day off, and she immediately agrees to go out with him. Lauren had been working and going to school at the same time. She is a very hard working gal. Meeting up with a hot and handsome man like Alex would be a good thing for her, she also works in financial and perhaps she could become his investor?

Lauren and Alex talks about many things on their first date. It seems like Alex has a lot of stories to tell her when he was a policeman. They got along well, and when the night ended. Lauren invited him for 'coffee' upstairs in her apartment.

It has been a while for Alex. At first he told her, "It's late. Maybe next time?" However, Lauren have a pride in her that she won't take 'no' for an answer. So she grabbed onto his right arm and pulled him inside. "Come on. I won't eat you alive, why are you so worried, it's just coffee."

Lauren had managed to convince Alex to come inside her apartment. Lauren seems to be like a clean freak. Her apartment was neat and tidy, and you can tell that she likes the place clean; even her sink is spotless.

Lauren told him, "Don't just stand there, come in and sit." Then she pulled him into her sofa. "Stay here, I'll go make you some coffee."

"No it's okay. Water would be fine." Alex doesn't like coffee. He used to drink them a lot, however, after what happened to him. Every time he sees coffee he remembered Melanie.

It was the fourth time he went to Melanie's house, and she always treated him to a cup of freshly made coffee. However, that time, she had drugged him. He woke up to find himself trapped inside her chamber.

It was a dark part of his memory that he wanted to forget.

"Alex?" Lauren called out his name. It seems like she had been calling his name for awhile. Alex snapped back, and answered her. "Yes. Sorry, it been a long day."
