5 Chapter 5

A buzz from my phone makes me realize I was standing in the corner of my office staring at the window not really watching anything, but just being eaten by the fact that the city of New York is overly crowded by stones and glass.

Reaching for my phone in my desk I was slightly annoyed by the sudden interruption from my escape from these never-ending cases I have been reading for the past 5 hours.

Asian chick: Who is this?

Upon checking the sender of the message I was blankly responding to the message.

Alex: Hi, I'm Alexander, if you know Claire Sanderson, we have a common friend and she gave your number to me, not directly but another friend of mine.

Asian chick: Oh, I see... She didn't mention it. How can I help you?

Alex: Nothing really, I thought she told you. Anyway, what's name?

Asian chick: Hanna…

I was about to respond to her message when I realize she only responded to my text after 2 days.

Alex: I thought you will never respond to my message, what's the change of heart?

Hanna: Honestly, I forgot to check my phone for 2 days. I was busy working.

Seriously, Who on earth will not check their phone even a day, if she is busy at work then there might be some important messages from work to check on a daily basis.

Curiosity is taking over me and without thinking I asked her.

Alex: What do you do for a living? That is if you don't me asking.

Hanna: I write books, novels, and a freelance content writer and other stuff. And you?

Alex: I lock down people who lost their ability to think straight and become animals instead of being human. Lawyer in short.

Hanna: Wow...so Claire works for you? I know she works in a law firm as a personal assistant.

Alex: Yeah, she works here, but she is not my assistant. My partner Matt is her direct boss.

Hanna: By the way, I need to cut this conversation of ours; I will continue what I'm doing. Nice talking to you Alex ;)

Alex: Sure, I was going to continue what I'm doing as well. See you around.

What did just happen? I was talking over text to that nerdy Asian chick. Hmm... I haven't actually used to this long conversation over text with someone for a long time.

That was new.

I took another glance at the vast New York; maybe it's not bad at all.

Going back to my seat not realizing I was still standing. I was then back to reality and dug myself again to the pile of papers in front of me.
