1 Chapter 1

Rikka stood at the entrance of St. Marie kindergarten with a bright smile on her face. Her first day of work. She still couldn't believe that she got a job as soon as she returned from studying abroad. She had left for England five years ago, right after high school, without a word to her friends. A week before leaving England she had applied for the kindergarten teacher position at St. Marie and got a response within fifteen minutes of sending it. She was so ecstatic.

"Good morning Miss. Brooks."

Rikka glanced to the right and spotted one of her colleagues, a female, waving as she made her way towards her. She greeted with a kind smile. "Good morning Miss. Taylor."

"Are you excited for your first day," Natasha whose surname is Taylor asked excitedly as they walked past the entrance towards the teacher's office.

Rikka chuckled at her excitement. "To be honest," she confessed. "I am as excited as I am nervous. I hope they like me."

"They will," Natasha reassured. She stopped in front of the teacher's office and looked at Rikka. "We don't know each other well, but I can tell that you are a nice and genuine person."

Rikka blushed. "Thank you."

-

Rikka and her colleagues stood before the kindergarten children and their parents in the school yard. They introduced themselves and which class they would be teaching. As soon as they were done, the kindergarten children disperse and headed towards their teacher that they were assigned to.

Rikka kneeled down before her class and smiled, happily. "Morning guys, my name is Rikka Brooks and we are going to have a fun year."

The kids smiled brightly and then in unison greeted. "Good morning Miss. Brooks."

Natasha, who was right beside Rikka with her class, glanced for a second and smiled when she saw the students and Rikka chatting happily. She glanced to the other side and frowned; Miss. Stacey Anderson was glaring at Rikka with jealousy.

When Stacey realized that Natasha was looking at her, she shot her a dirty glare before looking away in disgust. Natasha rolled her eyes before turning back to her students who were chatting amongst themselves.

-

Rikka stood before her class, at the front and looked at everyone, everyone one of them eyes glistened with excitement. It made her happy that they were just as excited as her.

"Who would like to be the first one to introduce themselves and tell us something about themselves?" She asked as she walked around the classroom.

"Me. Pick me, Miss. Brooks."

She looked in the direction, happily. A girl with long brown hair and deep purple eyes raised her hand excitedly. Wow, she's so cute Rikka thought before signaling her to start.

The brunette child stood up, beaming with excitement. "My name is Sienna Roberts and I love cute and fluffy things." She then glanced at Rikka and added. "Miss. Brooks, you are very beautiful."

"T-thank you," Rikka said, taken aback at the sudden statement. Such a sweet child. Her parents must be proud. Wait? Did she say her last name is Roberts? She couldn't be his, could she? It's not a common last name but still what are the odds. She mentally noted to look into it, just to be safe.

"Miss. Brooks, it's my turn," a boy with black hair and blue eyes said, raising his hand.

Rikka smiled. She love how eager and willing her class were. "Go ahead, sweetheart."

-

Rikka walked into the teacher's lounge and towards her cubicle which was beside Natasha, oblivious to the eyes that were staring her down. She pulled out her chair and sat down. "How was your first day?" She asked.

"Good," Natasha replied, looking at her and then added. "Looks like you had fun in your class today too."

"They are so adorable," Rikka stated. As she recalled the events that took place, her thoughts landed on Sienna. She came out of her reverie and asked. "Do you know whose Sienna Robert's parents."

Natasha shook her head. "We have never met her parents actually. She always gets dropped off and picked up by her chauffeur. Why?"

Rikka chuckled, Natasha is a sweet person but she can be very nosy. "Just wondering," she replied, brushing it off.

"I believe the principal is the only one that knows all the kiddos personal information," she added. "Why don't you ask her?"

"That's okay."

-

Rikka placed her purse in a corner, took off her shoes at her apartment entrance and headed towards her bathroom. Once inside her bathroom and her bathtub filled with soapy water, she took off her clothes and sat down in the tub.

She let out a long sigh. It's been too long since she last had a bubble bath. Back in England, she was staying on campus and each dormitory only had a stand-up shower. Which was better than nothing, but she remembered all those exhausting days she had and how she longed to soak in a nice warm bubble bath to de-stress. She leaned her head backwards on the tub rim and closed her eyes.

-

Xavier Roberts, a tall handsome man walked into his villa, which was located on the outskirts of the city. Before he could take off his shoes, his daughter ran up to him and jumped into his extended arms, which lift her up, to face.

She kissed him on the cheeks. "Welcome home daddy."

"How was your first day of kindergarten?" He asked as he walked further into his villa with her in his arms.

"I have a new teacher," Sienna exclaimed excitedly. "She's so pretty and nice. She said we will have a fun year in school."

He put her down as soon as they entered the living room. "That's amazing, baby." He kneeled down before her and added. "I must meet his teacher of yours one day soon."

"No!" replied Sienna took quickly.

Xavier was taken aback by his daughter sudden response. He smiled gently at her. "Why not?"

Sienna puffed up her cheeks. "Because you will scare her away." She recalled all the previous times her father scared off people that she took an interest in.

"I won't," replied Xavier and then added. "Plus, as your father, I should know who your teacher is in case of an emergency."

"You can't daddy," Sienna begged, tears forming at the corner of her eyes as she crumpled the edge of her shirt.

Xavier stood up and ruffled her brown hair. "Okay, I promise."

She gave him a big, bright smile.

-

Rikka walked into her room, with a white towel wrapped around her body. She picked up her cell from off the nightstand and noticed 50 missed message and 50 missed called from the same number. She thought she was going to be late for work this morning and completely forgot her phone at home, only to realize that she was very early when she showed up at the kindergarten.

Rikka unlocked her cell and dialed the missed called number. Before she could greet the person on the other side, the other person lashed out at her in annoyance for finally answering her call.

"I am sorry Daisy," replied Rikka, apologetically. "I forgot my cell at home, and I got home about thirty minutes ago."

"And it took you thirty minutes to return my call," Daisy retorted.

Rikka blinked; Daisy did not change one bit. Harsh as usual, or worst. She sat down on her bed and added. "What are you doing tomorrow evening? Let's meet up and have supper, my treat."

"I want steak from Le Ristorante," Daisy stated. Le Ristorante was their favorite eating place back in their high school days.

Rikka sweatdropped. "It's a date then."

"I have so much juicy news for you, especially about you know who and who," Daisy said, too excitedly. You want to know the latest juicy detail about anything, Daisy is your person.

Rikka frowned. "I don't want to hear about them." One of her reason for disappearing for five years without a trace was because of what they did to her.

"Trust me, you want to hear this."

Hoping to change the subject, Rikka let out a fake yawned and said. "Daisy let's talk tomorrow. I am so tired and plus I have to get up early. Love you lots, goodnight."

"Love you too boo."
