Dumbledore nodded in agreement, "Indeed, Alastor," Dumbledore said quietly. "We must proceed with caution and care. I did check to make sure he was…of sound mind. The mental block caused by the recent trauma was there, so I was not able to get the full details without causing unnecessary pain. His parents were muggles, and he had a good childhood before the unfortunate accident. But, there is much we still do not know about the boy but 'better safe than sorry', as they say."

Moody nodded solemnly, his features set in a determined expression. "He didn't…"

"Oh no, he didn't cause it. Not even with accidental magic. Just unfortunate. If anything, from what I saw, his accidental magic is the only reason he is still alive."

"..Hmm. Understood, Dumbledore," Moody said gruffly. "I'll keep an eye out if his name pops up at any point, see what I can do to steer off the other cunts. I'll keep you informed."

With that, Moody rose from his seat, his gaze meeting Dumbledore's in a silent exchange, Dumbledore nodded in acknowledgement. Then, with a nod of farewell, he stepped back into the fireplace and disappeared into the flames, leaving Dumbledore alone once more in his office.

As Mr. Anderson contemplated the recent developments in the academic journey of one of his new students, he couldn't help but marvel at the exceptional abilities he displayed. It had only been a month since he had returned to school after his unfortunate accident, yet he had already surpassed his peers, showcasing a remarkable aptitude for learning.

The primary school teachers had unanimously agreed that his intellect far exceeded that of his classmates, prompting them to recommend skipping a few years and allowing him to join high school. Some had expressed concerns about Johnathan's social development and the importance of forming friendships, but the potential of nurturing a budding genius outweighed any reservations.

As the students filed into the classroom, Mr. Anderson seized the opportunity to introduce Jonathan Grey to the class. "Good morning, class," he said with a raised voice making sure to gain all of their attention, 

"Jonathan Grey", he said, gesturing to the boy in question "has been granted the opportunity to skip a few years. Why don't you all say 'Hi'?" he explained with a warm smile. The students looked on with a mix of curiosity, admiration, and dismissiveness, some eagerly welcoming their new classmate into their midst while others simply chose to ignore him.

With Jonathan now among them, Mr. Anderson felt a sense of anticipation. It was his responsibility to ensure that Jonathan continued to be academically challenged while also providing him with opportunities for social growth and development. Only time would tell if this decision to skip a few years was the right one, but for now, the classroom buzzed with excitement and questions, lots of questions.

"Hello there", Dumbledore said with his usual grandfatherly voice, as he stepped through the door of the orphanage, his gaze sweeping over the familiar surroundings as he made his way inside. The matron, Mrs Rose, greeted him with a warm smile as she approached.

"Ah, Mr Dumbledore, what a pleasant surprise," Mrs Rose said, her voice tinged with genuine warmth. "To what do we owe the honour of your visit?"

Dumbledore returned the smile, his eyes twinkling behind his half-moon spectacles. "Good afternoon, Mrs. Rose. I've come to inquire about the welfare of young Jonathan Grey."

Mrs Rose's expression softened at the mention of Jonathan's name, and she nodded solemnly. "Ah, yes, young Jonathan. He's doing quite well, all things considered. But I must inform you, Headmaster, that there have been some changes here since your last visit."

Dumbledore raised an eyebrow in curiosity. "Changes, you say?"

"Yes, you see, Headmaster, there have been significant developments in the care of children like Jonathan," Mrs Jenkins explained. "The Children Act of 1989 brought about a shift in the way we approach the care and protection of vulnerable children. Instead of orphanages, there's been a move towards providing alternative forms of care, such as foster homes and group homes."

Dumbledore listened intently, his expression thoughtful as he absorbed the information. "Ah, I see. And where is Jonathan now?"

Mrs Rose gave a confused look before answering. "He's been placed in a foster home, Headmaster. It's a lovely family who've taken him in, and they've been providing him with the care and support he needs. He's all the way in Cambridge now, already attending university. I'm surprised you haven't heard, all over the news, you see."

"...I see." Dumbledore nodded with suprise, a faint smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "That's good to hear. During our short meeting, Jonathan did strike me as an intelligent young man. I simply did not realise that it was to such a degree. Forgive me for may lack of knoledge, but don't students need to be around the age of 18 to attend university?"

Dumbledore's expression turned sombre as he listened to Matron Rose's updates on Jonathan's situation. While he appreciated her dedication to the children under her care, he knew that it was no longer appropriate for her to retain knowledge of the magical world now that Jonathan was in a different guardianship.

"Thank you, Matron Rose. This has been most enlightening." Dumbledore began, his tone gentle yet firm, "I'm afraid I must ask something of you."

The matron looked at him quizzically, sensing the seriousness in his voice. "Of course, Headmaster. What is it?"

"I'm afraid I must Obliviate you of any memory pertaining to the magical world," Dumbledore explained regretfully. "Now that Jonathan is no longer under your guardianship, it's imperative that you no longer possess knowledge of our world."

Dumbledore's request took Mrs. Jenkins by surprise, and a flicker of concern crossed her face. "Obliviate? But Headmaster, why do you need to erase my memories?"

Dumbledore met her gaze with understanding. "I understand your apprehension, Mrs. Jenkins. Please know that it's not a decision I take lightly. However, now that Jonathan is no longer under your guardianship, it's necessary to ensure that you no longer possess knowledge of the magical world."

Mrs Jenkins's worry deepened, but Dumbledore's reassuring tone helped ease her nerves. "But what about Jonathan? Will I forget about him too?"

Dumbledore shook his head gently. "No, Mrs Jenkins. You will remember Jonathan, but any memories related to magic will be removed. You'll still have the memories of your time caring for him, just without the knowledge of the magical aspects of his life."

The matron nodded slowly, digesting Dumbledore's explanation. "I see…Will it hurt?"

Discreetly preparing his wand underneath the table just in case, Dumbledore offered her a comforting smile. "No, it won't hurt at all. It will be like a dreamless sleep—a momentary lapse in memory with no discomfort whatsoever."

Mrs Rose took a deep breath, steeling herself for what was to come. "Very well, Headmaster. I trust your judgment."

Dumbledore nodded in appreciation. "Thank you, Mrs Rose. I assure you, this is for the best."

With a gentle wave of his wand and a murmured incantation, Dumbledore went to perform the Obliviation spell, but first, he took the opportunity to delve deeper into her mind, curious to see how Jonathan had been faring in the year since he left the orphanage. What he found brought a smile to his face.

Amidst the memories of her interactions with Jonathan, Dumbledore discovered glimpses of the boy's personality. While Jonathan may not have been as outgoing and extraverted as his success might suggest, he was, in fact, a deeply studious child with a kind heart.

In the snippets of memory, Dumbledore witnessed Jonathan patiently helping the other children with their schoolwork, offering guidance and encouragement whenever they struggled. Exactly what he was hoping for. And with minimal input.

With a sense of reassurance, Dumbledore withdrew from Mrs. Jenkins's mind, grateful for the opportunity to witness the impact that Jonathan was having on those around him. As Mrs Rose blinked in confusion, Dumbledore offered her a reassuring smile. "I believe that will be all, Mrs. Jenkins?"

The matron shook her head, still trying to make sense of…something. As she responded in a confused tone. "Ah, Headmaster. Thank you."

Dumbledore nodded solemnly. "Take care, Matron. And thank you for all that you've done for Jonathan."

As he bid farewell to the matron and left the orphanage, he carried with him a renewed sense of relief.

In Mr. Anderson's science class, Jonathan's intellect shone brightly during class discussions and laboratory experiments. He eagerly absorbed complex scientific concepts and demonstrated a remarkable aptitude for applying them in practical situations. Though passion may not have been the right word, considering it seemed more like he desired moving forward and completing tasks more than the task itself.

Dr Patel, the physics teacher, witnessed Jonathan's fascination with what he liked to call 'the mysteries of the universe'. In his advanced physics courses, Jonathan's inquisitive mind thrived as he delved into topics like quantum mechanics and relativity. As Jonathan's academic journey progressed, Ms Garcia, the guidance counsellor, played a pivotal role in shaping his future. She provided guidance on college admissions, scholarship opportunities, and extracurricular activities, helping Jonathan navigate the complex process of applying to top-tier universities. She believed in Jonathan's potential and encouraged him to pursue his dreams with confidence. 

Upon entering university, Jonathan found himself under the mentorship of Dr. Johnson, a distinguished professor of mathematics and physics. Dr. Johnson recognised Jonathan's exceptional talents and invited him to participate in advanced seminars and research projects. Under his guidance, Jonathan thrived in the academic environment, contributing to groundbreaking discoveries in his field.

As Jonathan embarked on his doctoral studies, Dr Johnson, along with Dr. Lee, a graduate advisor, supported him every step of the way. Dr. Lee recognised his potential as a researcher and helped him secure funding for his studies. The article showed that during the interviews, Johnathan spoke with sincerity and gratitude, acknowledging the pivotal role played by his teachers, mentors, and peers in shaping his academic journey. "'To be honest, I wouldn't be where I am today without the incredible teachers who have inspired me throughout my education,' Johnathan remarked. 'They challenged me to think critically, to question the unknown, and to strive for excellence in everything I do.' " The paper quoted.

A smile tugged at the corners of Mr Thompson's lips as memories of the bright and eager young boy flooded his mind. Johnathan had been a standout student in Mr. Reynolds' mathematics class, displaying a keen intellect and a thirst for knowledge that set him apart from his peers. Mr Reynolds recalled the countless hours spent discussing complex mathematical concepts with Johnathan, marvelling at his ability to grasp even the most challenging topics with ease.

"It's incredible to see how far he's come," Mr Thompson mused, his smile widening as he reflected on Johnathan's journey.

He felt a swell of pride knowing that he had been able to contribute to Johnathan's academic growth, albeit in a really small way. He knew that Johnathan's success was a testament only to a small part his own hard work and dedication, along with the support and guidance of all the teachers who had helped shape his journey. But mostly to the boys' innate genius.

As he finished reading the article, He couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that he had played a role in nurturing the talents of a truly exceptional student. With a contented sigh, he folded the newspaper and set it aside, grateful for the opportunity to have been a part of Johnathan's academic journey.

As I finished drying myself off and slipped into fresh clothes, my magic sense indicated that something magical coming towards the front door. It was something I developed after Dumbledore visited me in the orphanage. At first, I thought there might be an issue using it because my magic was new and might be too unrefined, but I was able to replicate both techniques easily, and there were no electronic problems whatsoever.

Both techniques were similar in nature. The first technique allowed me to send a thin pulse of magic that was supposed to let me know the general location of any magical devices close by. I was able to tweak it a little so that it lets me know if there is anything magical close by without sending out a pulse by simply letting me know the movement of ambient magic near me. Like the subtle magic that wizards and witches, enchantments and wards release etc.

I focused on the sensation. It was unmistakable, this one was definitely a witch or wizard. Unless magical owls release the same amount of ambient magic as magical people. Highly doubt it, but I'll find out soon enough. I used [Detect life] just to make sure though… yep, definitely a wizard.

It's about time. It doesn't seem to be Hagrid though, maybe Snape, considering he live in the Muggle world when he was a kid.

I had been waiting for the letter to arrive in November, but it never did. I entertained the idea that Dumbledore might be orchestrating some grand scheme to bring together Harry and me by having us get our things on the same day and bonding. Similar to how some of the fanfiction I read in my old life indicated that he told the Weasleys to have Ron bond with him on the train and keep him away from the Death Eaters. 

Honestly, I wouldn't blame him. With my intelligence and how good I am at magic, I think I would do the same just to make sure there wasn't another Tom Riddle. I mean, imagine a dragonborn Voldermort. 

Shaking my head slightly with a dismissive smile, I finished dressing and made my way out of my room with my used clothes, heading to the laundry room.

I didn't even use my points the last few years, just focusing on stacking them up and getting accolades while I do, just in case I need them, which I doubt I would.

Almost three years of accomplishments, and I walked away with 24,679 extra points. I found one of the best ways to spam points was teaching other people and helping people with their homework etc. It may only give 2 points, but those points stack up if you study in a group. It does have to be effective though. Just being there and only helping them a little didn't give any points, but taking the time to help them over a few sessions did the job just fine. Time really is money.

The sound of footsteps near the stairs caught my attention. The voice of the foster carer echoed through the staircase.

"Jonathan, dear, you have a guest," she announced warmly, her voice carrying up the stairs.

"Alright, I'm on my way"

As I descended the staircase, my eyes caught the presence that awaited me. And then, I saw her – a woman seated on the sofa, her demeanour poised and dignified, exuding an air of authority. Looking almost exactly like she did in the Harry Potter movies, robes and pointy hat included. Does that mean this will be the movie version and not the books?

"Ah, Jonathan, there you are," the foster carer greeted me with a smile as I entered the room. "This is our visitor. Professor McGonagall."

"Good afternoon, Professor," I greeted, offering a polite nod as I entered the room. "If you'll excuse me for just a moment, I'll put my things away and be right with you."

Receiving a nod, I made quick strides as I made my way to the laundry room, depositing my stuff before returning to the living room where Professor McGonagall awaited.

"Thank you for waiting," I said, taking a seat opposite her and taking note that the foster carer had already left. Good. "So, to what do I owe the pleasure of this visit?"

I knew exactly why she was here, but no one came to inform my current guardians about magic when I moved, so I'm assuming that Dumbledore's visit was a one-time thing due to the magic they sensed. Something I had rectified by fine-tuning my magic so that there is no leakage or wasted energy when using spells unless I want there to be.

"Mr Grey," Professor McGonagall began, her tone carrying a mix of formality and warmth, "As your guardian had informed, I am Professor McGonagall. I am here to extend an invitation to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." She said as she handed me the envelope.

I took it and read, noticing the lion, eagle, badger.

As I carefully opened the envelope and read the contents, Professor McGonagall watched with a small smile, her eyes twinkling with a hint of pride. She must see this as a momentous occasion, she must love the look on childrens faces when they find out they can use magic considering how focused she is on mine.

Dear Mr Grey,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Please find enclosed a list of all necessary books and equipment.

Term begins on September 1. We await your owl by no later than July 31.

"Congratulations, Mr Grey," she said warmly. "You're a Wizard."

I nodded, deciding to be upfront with Professor McGonagall. "Actually, Professor, a few years ago, I had a visit from a wizard. They sensed some magic near me and wanted to make sure it wasn't something called an Obscurus. They left when they found everything was okay and said it was related to accidental magic."

Her eyebrows furrowed slightly, but she remained composed. "I see," she said thoughtfully. "I wasn't made aware of this."

"In any case," Professor McGonagall continued, her tone brisk, "Hogwarts offers a unique environment where you can learn to control and harness your magical abilities."

I glanced down at the Hogwarts letter in my hand and continued to read.

At least, that's what I was told. Is that still the case?"

Dumbledore keeping tabs and wiping minds. At least he gets some good news. There are several theories on why he didn't do that for Harry. Maybe he just wanted to give him a normal childhood and genuinely that he was OK and not getting abused in any way. Maybe the reports he was getting from Mrs Figg told him that there was nothing to worry about etc. What's yours?

Dumbledore seems like the type to tell you before obliviating you, probably have some heartfelt conversation before the act.

John got the letter, I kind of just wanted to get started with Hogwarts tbh.

I was advised that I could have done this better by simply having this summarised from the teacher's point of view when he was reading the newspaper to save time and reading, but I was only told that after I had already done the chapter. Sigh, live and learn.

AN1: I saw the trailer for the new Godzilla and Kong movie and a few wild ideas popped into my head. What if they were magical creatures? What if house elves were from hollow earth? JK Rowlings didn't really specify where they were from. Combining the 2 universes could work. Food for thought. A stroke of madness…or genius.

AN2: What house do you think he will or should be in based on what you know about him so far? I have an idea already and I don't think i will be swayed but I'm just curious.
