50 Ch. 48 - One Pokemon

From that PokeDEX, I found out that Skiploom is actually the second evolution of Hoppip.

I then checked Hoppip's wild encounter location, and Hoppip could be found on 'Route 11'.

I guess I'll need to head back to 'Vermilion City' after completing everything in 'Celadon City' to catch a Hoppip for Lily.

Anyway, moving on, after defeating the second NPC, I reached the wall of Trees with a Small Tree in the middle. To get to the Gym Leader who was behind the wall of Trees, I'll need to cut down the Small Tree.

But there were three different openings with three different Small Trees, all the openings led to the Gym leader from different directions.

The only difference was that I'd need to face off against more or fewer NPCs depending upon the direction I chose.

"Why do I feel like I should defeat every NPC before challenging the Gym Leader?"

"You know what, I always trust my Gut."

I decided to face off against every NPC present in the Gym before challenging the Gym Leader.

With that, I first headed to the left side.

"Look, Look! See my Pokemon. I like the Grass-Type. I like how they're easy to raise."

"Weren't you peeking in here earlier?"

"Now I just need to cut down one of the Small Tree to get behind the wall of Trees."

"Will I get a quest for cutting down these Small Trees?"

I moved closer to the Small Tree in the front, but unlike other times where getting closer to a Small Tree would trigger a quest, this time nothing happened.

"Strange, why am I not getting a quest?"

I couldn't understand why was it happening. But since I had to challenge the Gym Leader, I had to cut down the Small Tree.

[This tree looks like it can be CUT down!]

[Would you like to CUT it?]

[Note : This Small Tree is part of the Gym Trial and will be restored after every challenge.]

[<Yes > <No >]

"Oh, So these Small Trees are part of the Gym challenge and would grow back every time someone challenges the Gym."

"It is similar to how the laser door works in 'Vermilion City', where the door gets locked every time someone challenges the Gym."

"Maybe that's why I didn't receive a quest."

Anyway, I pressed <Yes >.

[Oddish used <Cut >]

After cutting down the Small Tree, I entered the fort of Trees where, along with the Gym Leader, three more NPCs stood.

"Welcome to Celadon Gym"

"You'd better not underestimate the nice ladies here."

After defeating her, I realized that I had been only using <Flamethrower >, which caused its PP to drop to 0.

"I'll need to head back to the Pokemon Center to restore the PP of Charmeleon."

With that, I started heading back, but for some reason, as I moved closer to the exit of the Gym, the more unsettled I felt.

"Why do I feel like if I exit the Gym now then I'll lose something important?"

I stopped in my tracks and began pondering what to do now.

"I need to restore Charmeleon's PP because Charmeleon has a type advantage against Grass-Type, but <Flamethrower > is the only Fire-Type move that it knows."

I began thinking, and that's when I remembered all the items that I found in the wild.

"Yes, maybe there is some medicine I found that could restore the PP of a Pokemon."

I pulled my Backpack down and began looking through all the items.

Soon I found just the thing I needed.

[Ether : It restores the PP of a Pokemon's selected move by a maximum of 15 Points.]

[<Use >

<Give >

<Toss Item>]

I had three Ethers in my backpack, which I could use to restore <Flamethrower >'s PP.

"What else am I going to use them for if I didn't use them when needed?"

I pressed <Use > on Ether and selected Charmeleon, and after that, the list of Charmeleon's moves appeared.

From the list, I selected <Flamethrower >.

[Ether was used on Charmeleon]

A notification appeared indicating that I had used Ether on Charmeleon.

To confirm, I checked Charmeleon's information, and indeed the PP of <Flamethrower > had been restored.

After using Ether on Charmeleon, I put my backpack back on my shoulder and made my way to the next NPC.

The other two NPCs were standing on both sides of the Gym Leader. I first moved to the one standing on the left of the Gym Leader.

"Pleased to meet you. My hobby is Pokemon training."

After defeating her, She was the last NPC beside the Gym Leader. That means now only the Gym Leader remains.

I moved to the center and walked forward and soon reached where the Gym Leader was standing.

In front of me stood a beautiful girl wearing a Kimono surrounded by beautiful flowers.

Erika, The Nature-Loving Princess

{Image Of Erika}

I moved up to her.

"Hello..." said Erika

"Hi."

"Lovely weather, isn't it?"

"Um? Yes, It's quite lovely."

"It's so pleasant..." said Erika as her eyes started to close.

"..."

"Hello? You there?"

"...Oh, dear..." said Erika with a drowsy voice.

"I must have dozed off. Welcome."

"My name is Erika. I am the Leader Of Celadon Gym."

"I am a student of the art of flower arranging."

"My Pokemon are solely of the GRASS type."

Erika stopped in her introduction and looked at me closely.

"Wait, are you perhaps here to challenge me?"

"Uh, Yes."

"...Oh, I'm sorry, I had no idea that you wished to challenge me."

"Very well, but I shall not lose." said Erika with determination.

[You are challenged by Leader Erika]

[Erika sent out Victreebel]

Her first Pokemon was Victreebel, which will face off against my Charmeleon.

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 92/92

Victreebel Lv. 31 - 100%

Since Victreebel is a Grass-Type, <Flamethrower > is the best choice. So I chose <Flamethrower >

It was super effective, but somehow Victreebel survived with 1 HP.

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 92/92

Victreebel Lv. 31 - 1%

Victreebel used <Venoshock >, which did some decent damage to Charmeleon.

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 61/92

Victreebel Lv. 31 - 1%

To save <Flamethrower >'s PP, I used <Slash > instead since Victreebel only had 1 HP left.

[Foe's Victreebel fainted]

[Charmeleon gains 1151 EXP. Points]

After Victrebel fainted, Erika sent out Bellossom.

[Leader Erika sent out Bellossom]

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 61/92

Bellossom Lv. 33 - 100%

{Image Of Bellossom}

Again, I used <Flamethrower >, which was super effective, but...

[The Occa Berry weakened the damage to the foe's Bellossom]

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 61/92

Bellossom Lv. 33 - 62.6%

Bellossom used <Hidden Power>, which was super effective against Charmeleon.

Charmeleon Lv. 35 - 17/92

Bellossom Lv. 33 - 62.6%

Again, I used <Flamethrowher >, this time knocking Bellossom out.

[Foe's Bellossom fainted]

[Charmeleon gains 1224 EXP. Points]

[Charmeleon grew to Lv. 36]

[Leader Erika sent out Tangela]

Charmeleon Lv. 36 - 17/92

Tangela Lv. 30 - 100%

{Image Of Tangela}

Once again, <Flamethrower >, which one hit Tangela.

[Foe's Tangela fainted]

[Charmeleon gains 702 EXP. Points]

After Tangela, Erika sent out her last Pokemon.

[Leader Erika sent out Vileplume]

Charmeleon Lv. 36 - 17/92

Vileplume Lv. 31 - 100%

{Image Of Vileplume}

One <Flamethrower > and it was down.

[Foe's Vileplume fainted]

[Charmeleon gains 1151 EXP. Points]

'Man, By far this was the easiest Gym battle that I have faced.'

[You have defeated Leader Erika]

[You got ₽3168 for winning]

"Oh! I concede defeat." Erika exclaimed as she came closer to me.

"You are remarkably strong."

"I must confer on you the RAINBOW Badge." Erika took out the badge from the long sleeves of her Kimono and handed it to me.

The Rainbow Badge, similar to the Thunder Badge, was in the shape of a flower, but unlike the Thunder Badge, which was primarily of Golden color, the Rainbow Badge was multi-color, with each petal of the flower a different color.

[You have received the Rainbow Badge from Erika]

[The Rainbow Badge has been stored in your PokeDEX.]

[Your Trainer card has been Updated]

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

[Please check it for more details.]

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

[You have completed a Hidden Quest]

[Please check it for more details.]

Right after receiving the Badge, many notifications appeared, including notifications of three different Hidden Quests.

'Not one or two, but Three Hidden Quests. I'll check those out as soon as I get out of here.'

"The Rainbow Badge will make Pokemon up to Lv. 46 obey."

"It also allows Pokemon to use <STRENGTH > in and out of battle."

"Please also take this with you."

[You received TM19 from Erika]

"TM19 contains <Giga Drain>."

"Half the damage it inflicts is drained to heal your Pokemon."

"Wouldn't you agree that it's a wonderful move?" asked Erika.

"..."

"..."

'Why isn't she saying anything? Are her dialogues over?'

"Wouldn't you agree?" Erika asked again.

'Wait, is she waiting for me to respond?'

"Yes, I think so too." I replied

"Right!, I believe this move will be of great help on your journey."

"*Yawm* Now then, Please excuse me as I would like to enjoy this pleasant weather some more." Erika said as she sat comfortably on the grass and started to doze off.

Alright, After Erika went to enjoy herself, I too didn't linger around and started to head to the exit, but I was stopped in my tracks as I received one more notification, and Charmeleon came out of its Poke Ball.

[Charmeleon is evolving!]

Bursting into a white light that lasted for 3 seconds, the Charmeleon had disappeared and was replaced by the fan-favorite Pokemon, Charizard.

[Congratulations! Your Charmeleon evolved into Charizard!]

{Image Of Charizard}

After its evolution, Charizard looks so fucking cool.

Another series of notifications appeared after its evolution.

[Charizard wants to learn the move <Air Slash>]

[But Charizard already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Air Slash>?]

[Air Slash : The user attacks with a blade of air that slices even the sky. It may also make the target flinch.

Type - Flying, Special

Power : 75

Accuracy : 95

PP : 15

Priority : Normal

Target : Selected Pokemon

> Base Power increased by 1.5x if the attacker is the same type

> 30% chance to make the foe Flinch

> Slicing move, affected by Sharpness

> Can be prevented with Protect/Detect

> Can be copied by Mirror Move]

Looking at the notification, I chose to forget <Slash > move and learn <Air Slash> in its place because it has more power and a 30% chance of causing flinch.

[Charizard forgot how to use <Slash >]

[Charizard has learned <Air Slash>]

And another series of notifications right after that.

[Charizard wants to learn the move <Wing Attack>]

[But Charizard already knows four moves.]

[Should a move be deleted and replaced with <Wing Attack>?]

[Wing Attack : The target is struck with large imposing wings spread wide to inflict damage.

Type - Flying, Physical

Power : 60

Accuracy : 100

PP : 35

Priority : Normal

Target : Selected Pokemon

> Base Power increased by 1.5x if the attacker is the same type

> Makes contact with the foe

> Can be prevented with Protect/Detect

> Can be copied by Mirror Move]

<Wing Attack> was nothing special, and I can lose any of the current moves for this.

[Charizard did not learn <Wing Attack>]

Finally, after this, the notifications stopped, and Charizard went back to its Poke Ball.

"Okay, Let's get out of here and check out those Hidden Quests."

I quickly made my way to the exit of the Gym, and just as I took one step out of the Gym...
