1 Group 1 Introduction

Sally was at school. North Valley Middle! Go Tigers! Yeah, she hated it. Nothing exciting happened. This was the sleepiest of all towns! Sally flung her long, straight blond hair back behind her shoulder. She couldn't wait for highschool! It brought her a step closer to leaving. She chewed on her bottom lip, her blue eyes were bored as she absentmindedly looked around the room. Nothing would happen today either...

BING! BING! BING!

“All students! This is a Code Red!

This is NOT a drill! I repeat, this is NOT a drill!

All teachers lock your doors and pull your blinds!

Do NOT open any doors until told to do so by the military!

Do NOT make any noise and stay as quiet as possible!

I repeat, this is NOT a drill!”

BING! BING! BING!

Mr. Nodge ran straight to the door, ushering a few students who were making their way to class in. He then locked the door and pulled the shade over it. He instructed the students to pull the blinds and that everyone was to go and sit in the back. All the students did so and sat under the tables in the rear of the room. The desk had metal shielding on the front and sides of it, blocking their view of the front. As well of anyone's view of them. That was when they heard it. The banging. Insistent banging. Over and over and over and over again! Some of the kids started crying, some were 5th graders here visiting. Sally tried to hush them, saying that they had to be quiet or they'd get caught. Good thing they listened.

Soon after, they heard glass shatter, wood breaking...... And then moans. A lot of moans. And shuffling. Like these people, whoever they were, couldn't quite walk. The moans were horrible, guttural sounds. They were moving down the hall, pass their door. No one moved, talked, blinked, or even breathed. They all just listened, intently.

THUMP!

Everything was quiet. Then they were moving a lot more quickly! Their shuffles sounding more like feet slapping the ground now. They were all headed further down the hall. To another class.

BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG!

That continued for a while, you could now hear screaming, making them pound harder. The glass had shattered a long time ago. The wood wasn't going to hold up for much longer either! The class in seven ten could hear it all clearly. The door broke, and all those moaning footsteps raced within room seven twelve. There was nothing any of them could do or say to console anyone now! They were all crying, some of them having soiled themselves. They could hear the flesh being ripped from bone. The screams of pain and pleas for help. The desperate cries to be spared. They could hear the moans, the growls.

Mr. Nodge may have been seventy-three, but he knew that he would have to try and get these kids out! He couldn't let the same thing happen to them! They had no other adult that could help them right now. He lived a good life he figured, he would do everything possible to help them have one as well. He started hushing the children. Telling them the truth, that they might come in here if they heard them. They settled somewhat, not as loud as before. Then he looked around the room, all the kids still hiding. He only knew one thing, he needed to come up with a plan, and quick. They were now at another door, it barring them from more promising screams......
