Chapter 24

Silence reigned in the car as Ezekiel drove to God knows where, his focus was on the road as if he was determined to get to his destination.

Evie had no option but to lean by the window and watch the streets that they passed. She touched her scalp which was hurting and cursed Ezekiel in her mind.

Ezekiel drove in through the computerized gates and pulled up in the garage, he alighted as well as Evie.

Ezekiel led the way into the mansion, while Evie followed behind. She watched Ezekiel as he turned the doorknob which gave a view of the fascinating sitting room.

Ezekiel collapsed on the sofa while Evie took the features in. This place was just as beautiful as his parents' house.

"Wow," Evie did not know when it rolled off her lips, she was amazed by the decoration of the living room, who did this must be a professional.

"This place is awesome" Evie muttered underneath her breath but Ezekiel heard it loud and clear.

"This is our home" Ezekiel's deep voice echoed loudly in the sitting room, Evie turned around to view him.

"I thought we were going to stay with your parents?" Evie asked, she needed Alice because she was the only one who kept her company and made her feel at home.

"That is my parents' house, this is mine and the last time I checked, you got married to me and not my parents," Ezekiel replied.

Evie did not utter a word, she just kept mute as she continued to gaze at the sitting room decoration.

Just then a woman who seemed to be in the same age grade as she surfaced.

"Good morning master and ma'am," she greeted with a courtesy.

Evie threw a knowing gaze at Ezekiel who was less bothered about her feelings.

"My name is Alexandra, but please call me Alexa," she stated.

"Alexa, show Evelynn to her room," Ezekiel ordered and Alexa nodded before gesturing for Evie to follow her.

"This is your room ma'am," Alexa opened the door to the room, and the both of them stepped inside.

Evie looked around the whole place, the room settings were good but were not to her taste.

"Do you like it, ma'am?" Alexa asked.

"It is manageable, it is just that, this is not how I like my room to be, nevertheless, I can still manage it," Evie did not bother to hide her dislike for the room.

"I am sorry you do not like it, ma'am, maybe I can call the decorator to come to do it to your liking," Alexa added while Evie said nothing.

"I believe you would like to take your bath, there are lots of clothes in the closet and all of them are to your taste," Alexa stated.

"It is okay, and thank you," Evie appreciated before she dismissed Alexa.

She undressed and went to the bathroom to bathe, everything she needed was ready for her, maybe Ezekiel was not as bad as she thinks.

After her bath, she went to the closet and was shocked by what she saw. As Alexa said, there were a lot of clothes in the closet, and all of them looked expensive. Did Ezekiel do all this for her?

Her face burned red as she gazed at all the sexy lingeries, this was just too much! Did Ezekiel have to go to this length?

Evie managed to pick out a flowery top and blue jeans to put on. She lay on the bed while going through her chats.

"Ma'am, breakfast is ready," Alexa said, "how did you get in?" Evie was startled but Alexa only smiled,

"Through the door" Alexa lied but Evie bought it anyway, there was only one entrance and that was the door, only if she knew!

Evie arrived in the dining room, she hoped that she would get to see Ezekiel, but he was nowhere to be found.

Evie made herself comfortable in the chairs, she tugged her hair behind her ear as Alexa served her food.

"Enjoy your meal ma'am," Alexa said with a smile while Evie dug into her meal.

The food was tasty, she had never tasted anything as delicious as this in her entire life.

"Who made this?" Evie asked, her mouth was still full of food.

"Me," Alexa replied causing Evie to open her mouth in shock.

"Surprised?" Alexa asked.

"Beyond that, I mean you would make it if you become a chef, can you teach me?" Evie asked while Alexa had a confused look on her face.

"Ma'am, I can not teach you, you do not have to do any chores in the house, order from my master," Alexa replied.

"Speaking of your master, where the hell is he?" Evie asked.

"He is in his room and he says that he does not need disturbance from anyone," Alexa replied.

'His room?' Evie asked inwardly, aren't they supposed to share the same room, since they are married.

Why is Ezekiel giving her much distance? Why does she feel like she is not needed in this house?

"I need to see him now!" Evie got up from her seat.

"I am sorry ma'am but he said he needed to rest till further notice" Alexa pleaded but Evie brushed past her to the staircase.

"Ma'am please stop, I can not afford to lose my job, please ma'am, if you go in there, my master would fire or punish me," Alexa's plea made Evie halt in her tracks, she can not make the innocent woman lose her job.

Evie redirected her steps to her room and Alexa was grateful for that, even though she did not finish her meal.

Alexa had to lie to prevent Ezekiel's wrath, she was never going to lose her job, it was just that their prince would skin her alive if she did not live up to expectations.

She heaved deeply because she knew she was in for a couple's drama. By the look on Evie's face, she knew that both Ezekiel and Evie would never relate.

They both have their demons and they seemed to be short-tempered,

'how can fire quench fire?' Alexa asked herself.

Ezekiel was stubborn, and so was Evie, so how would this two blend?

The two of them are stubborn souls and it looks like none of them is ready to back down, the house might as well collapse, thanks to the couple.

It is fire for fire!
