2 A Meeting with Boredom

It was 1 pm and It was time for Hermes to go to work. "ugh here we go again, selling clothes gets annoying" he says as he gets ready. As he's walking to his car he sees some news on social media about some type of meteor. When he turned his car on it was set to the radio "Urgent news, there's a huge hole near botan village, it looks as if it was made by a meteor. Luckily it landed in the middle of a empty area so nobody was injured."

"Oh shit, that's not that far from here" he decides to drive by it, ignoring the upcoming traffic he knew was there.

There was yellow tape around the hole and a big crowd surrounding it with their phones out taking pictures. He just kept driving past it and with just a glance he felt something strange about the air coming from the hole.

4hrs into work and all he could do was think about the mysteries of the hole, it seemed unlikely to have been caused by a meteor... he was quieter than any other day. As a result his coworker asked him "Hermes, are youu ok??" in a funny voice imitating a cartoon quote (this guy always does that) Hermes kept walking nonchalantly and yelled "shut up Alex" jokingly as he made his way out the front door and said, "ima go get food, yall want anything ?"

"I want a cookie cookiee," ~Alex.

"I wasnt' asking you, Lydia you want anything?" as he gave her a flirty look, "I'll eat from whatever you're getting as always" ~ Lydia … "okayy" Hermes responded in a softer tone trying to sound smooth.

As he was crossing the street something was falling from the sky at an alarming speed.

**fyiuuUUU!!  BOOM!! 💥**

The shockwave blew him away a little and he fell to the ground. Some of the cars that were close to the building were pushed back by the shockwave.

Hermes gets up and turns around, he sees that his workplace is caught on fire and instinctively without wasting a moment or concern for his wellbeing he rushed inside.

It was burning, bright red with oranges and patches of yellow flowing together while slowly destroying its surroundings. He rushes in and the fire was spreading fast through the small building because of the clothes they sold there, everything is falling over and burning. The fire was like a typhoon taking everything in its path. It was really hard to see, let alone breath or keep composure while everything is burning around you.

Luckily only two people were working with him that day, less people equals less casualties.

"LYDIAA!! ALEX!! coughs*" he yelled hoping that one of them would reply. "Hermes helppp!" it was Lydia! she was laying on the ground with her sweater mostly burned and a few light burns all over her body. Her right foot was stuck under the broken shelf, he immediately lifted the shelf and she crawled out. "Where's Alex ?" Hermes asked her, however, the fire is getting worse by the second. "Over there.. i think he went to.. the back room before something exploded." He nodded and carried her on his back because she couldn't walk.

Lydia tied up Hermes' long hair as a way of trying to help, she felt bad that he had to carry her in this situation. "thank you" he said.

He kicked open the door that leads to the back room and they both started yelling, "ALEXX??!!" "ALEX!?" They kept yelling trying to find him.

After a couple minutes of yelling Alex's name and looking around they finally heard a response "He..re" alex responded. Alex is a big guy he roughly weighed around 350lb, all of the shelfs and big pieces of wood from the ceiling were on top of his body.

The fire is getting worse, everything is burning and the path to the front exit is slowly getting blocked off by the burning pieces of wood.

"Lydia can you stand ?" Hermes asked. She responded while tears fell down her eyes, "Y..eah.." she let herself down from his back. Then immediately both of them tried every way to pull him out or move the stuff from on top of him… Alex told them, "you.. Guys should .. go….. Hermes you… know it don't you. The..re's no way.. I can make.. It out of ..this one." 

"SHUT UP, now's not the time to be talking like that" Hermes yells at him and more sweat comes down his face, breathing is nearly impossible and the desperation is starting to show. Lydia is crying because they both knew from the moment they saw him that he couldn't get out of there he was too heavy for Hermes to even carry him, let alone both of them.

Alex just smiled at them as he saw Hermes struggle.

"St..op. I.. always...wanted..it..to..endd an..ywa..ys, my li..fe wasnt..the eas..ies.t you kn..ow.

Im..glad...i.go..t..to..meet..yo..u..Clau..riece.."

Those were his last words, Hermes started tearing and yelled  "youuu fucking idiotttt"...

Lydia and Hermes tried making their way to the back emergency exit since the way to the front door was already impossible to get through. "Just keep calm were getting out of this. For Alex." Hermes told Lydia but she had already passed out on his shoulder because of the lack of oxygen. Unfortunately, the back exit was blocked too. "fuckk" he whispers to himself. Carrying Lydia on his back is starting to affect him, is unnecessary weight anyone would just save themselves. He leaned on the wall because there's no way to get out of the building, his face was burning a little. "ive scape death once too many. Guess is time, but burning to death huh, still not as bad as drowning I guess." "man, I'm not even 20 yet and I haven't left a message in the world with my drawings yet" "I dont wanna die yet really. No. I cant die" "just stay calm and think Hermes is your strong suit. Get it together for Alex for your brothers for your family for T for Lydia."

He stayed calmly thinking, then suddenly he heard a slight wind coming from--

"The store room!!"

It was the only place that had a window and maybe he can just jump through it, he kicked the door open and just ran in desperately.

a piece of wood fell down from above them, is getting closer and at the last minute Hermes broke the big piece of wood with a with his left hand while holding on to Lydia with his right and kept running towards a broken part of the wall, here it was the only way to survive!!

Luckily the fire hadnt spread as much in the storage room thanks to the broken wall. As he was about to hop the wall he saw someone on the ground from the corner of his eye and without thinking he picked them up and jumped out of the building through the broken wall.

Once he made it outside he dragged himself with both Lydia the other person towards the front of the burning building. He was loosing consciousness. There was a crowd of people that worked in that same plaza.

"Ahhhh look theres people that survived the firee"

"somebody hurry and help them"

"look is Hermes omg help them"

all he heard was sirens as he passed out.
