2 The Paths of Magic

On a wooden chair a young boy of the age of 14 can be seen eating his breakfast, and not far away was his father, who through his gestures seemed to be explaining something to his younger twin siblings.

Not long after, the twins came running to him "Tray, father is about to leave so he told us to ask you our questions" the girl for the two named Ermina said

Raising an eyebrow Tray replied, "Then what are your question", "it about the paths of magic" Ermina said. "Dad explained to us about the sorcerer's path, but I don't understand, they are not as good as the others, why did you choose the path of the sorcerer if all the other paths are better and easier," the boy, Raymond, immediately said.

"No path is easier than the other," Tray replied. After adjusting himself to be more comfortable, he replied. "Alright, let me explain it to you from the beginning", he said this as he pushed his now finished plate of food to the left of the wooden table away from him.

"Let's start with the stages," Tray said, "we know them" Ermina immediately replied, she was not impatient; their father had already explained this to her and her twin brother.

Ignoring her Troy continued, "The highest stage for any path is the grandmaster level, and the lowest the beginner, with novice, advanced, and then master in-between".

"The beast tamers at the beginning stages cannot completely communicate with his beast clearly, let's imagine it this way," Tray said as he turned towards his brother "Raymond would you always understand Ermina if she only used her hands to gesture", hearing this, Raymond shook his head.

"It is different from my example of Ermina gesturing with her hand, but you get the idea, don't you?" the twins both nodded indicating they understood.

"As for powers, beast tamers are said to get the exact abilities of whatever beast they tame, but that is only in the later stages, at first they get nothing, once the advice a stage they get the physical abilities, like strength, speed, and other abilities, like night vision, they could even get the ability to use and manipulate an element."

"Oh! So they are as weak as normal people at the start" Raymond said "exactly" Tray continued "then we have the healers they heal injured and sick people, at the start they can only heal a few injuries, and later on they could heal those suffering from deadly diseases"

"I want to be a healer when I grow up, so I can help people," Ermina said happily

"you know it is said that the healer among the ancient heroes could also talk to ghosts". Tray had said this just to give a little scare to his little sister, but it was indeed true, people do say such things, but there was no way of knowing if it was true or not.

"Wow" Ermina gasped in awe, and then replied happily "that means I can also help the dead get to the other world", "and how would you do that" tray asked her, "well of cause by making them happy," she said.

"What about the sorcerer, do they also get to be to be strong like the beast teamer later?" asked Raymond, "we will do the sorcerer last; it will be easier for you to understand that way "Tray replied

"Next we have the Elementalists, at first they cannot summon elements and can only get them from a source," as he said this, the twins looked at him confused.

"Let's say a beginner Elementalist wants to use fire, then they would have to reach into an already lit fire and take a part of it, but in later stages, they can simply summon whatever element they need, and can even gain control of new elements, for example, some famous adventurers can control plants"

The twins stared in awe while imaging what it would be like to control plants, but interrupting their thoughts Tray continued, "Fighters at the beginning gain a little strength once they chose the path, and become stronger the higher their stages, a fighter adventurer once knocked down a house in the outskirts of town"

"That's why I want to be a fighter, I want to be so strong, I can rip out trees from the ground and use them as brooms to sweep, and maybe play darts at the side of a mountain," Raymond said as he laughed and tried and succeed lifting the table a little bit of the ground.

"And then we have the sorcerers, unlike the rest, we are only limited by what we can't understand and of course our mana. The more mana we learn to control the more powerful we can be, but controlling more mana would be useless if we can't understand how a spell should work."

"I am just at the beginner stage, but some of the seniors ahead of me can do the things the other paths can do, and even things they can't".

"However unlike the rest paths where you get stronger by making your beast stronger, or by doing something over and over until it becomes easier. We need to read, study and experiment a lot, and also meditate so we can learn to control mana better"

"When you said what the other paths can do did you mean exactly what they can do?" Raymond asked, "yes, we can heal, pounce walls, control flames, and all the rest, but only if we can understand and perform the right spells."

"Sorcerers would be so powerful if they didn't have to read all the time," Raymond said, "when reading I sometimes forget words that I don't see often, will sorcerers also forget their spells like that?" asked Ermina.

"Yes, sorcerers can forget spells like that, that why we have our grimoire's," Troy said as he raised a book. "Alright you guys go play; I need to complete my choirs so I can meet up with young master Gyles".
