75 LAST CHAPTER

She eyed the tiny translucent fish water mark at the bottom of the picture. "Here." She returned them to Joy's hands and turned around.

"Hey." Said Haemin, standing at the door.

With just one glance at his pink headed figure she turned her gaze to the ground, knowing that she would be entranced if she looked into his eyes.

"Im gonna go since my building's far, see you at lunch." She muttered to Joy and left from the other exit.

He called after her but she didn't turn around even though he sounded desperate like that he never had.

"Please just give me a chance."

And as soon as it hit her, she cane to such an abrupt stop that even Haemin bumped into her back almost knocking her over.

It had not occurred to her before this, that Renè's conference exposed Ella to the whole world, including Haemin. And it must've shocked him immensely.

So, with small steps she turned around to face him.

She gasped. He looked awfully grim. With bags under his eyes, his skin looking tired and his eyes-

"You look sad." She confessed with stinging eyes.

"I deserve it." He whispered and she shook her head,

She couldn't stand seeing him be self-loathing when he was the literally the human embodiment of love.

"No, you dont."

"I do. Im such a bad friend, I didn't know about Ella, Iv hurt you so much."

She cupped his cheeks, anxious to shoo away his sadness, "Haemin you couldn't possibly hurt me on purpose, you are incapable of doing tha-"

He shook his head and tried to pull away from her, two crystal drops falling from his eyes making Luna's chest tighten.

But she again cupped his face and made him look at her, she chuckled lightly,

"You think you're a bad friend? Boy then I shouldn't even call myself her friend because you know what I did Haemin? I let my friend fall to her death. I let her die."

He furrowed his eyebrows and gave her a grave look,

"Luna." He said, this time his voice clearer, "What are you talking about?"

"Nothing." She shrugged.

He grabbed her shoulders, "Was it in your control?"

"What?"

"You friend, was saving her 100 percent possible?"

"I.." she looked down, "I dont know."

He patiently waited for her to continue,

"I froze, I was scared all of a sudden. Painful memories suddenly invaded my mind."

"Hey, its okay to not be okay. You've been through alot , it took a toll on you, its not your fault."

His soft tone frustrated her as if his words were giving finality to her condition , "But I dont wanna be the person who freezes up in the face of danger, I wanna help, I wanna be good again." She sounded small and weak, her worries and problems towering over her.

But Haemin was there in front of her too and his white angel-wings aura always shined brighter than the rest,

"Well, we can work on that." She knew from his tone that he was giving her another one of his world-peace-can-be-achieved smiles.

So, with an eager heart she looked into his eyes and found hope for herself, and perhaps for them as well.

After her first morning class, Luna headed to the greenhouse. She was supposed to have had breakfast with Hyun there and now she was heading to apologise to him for not making it.

Even though she wasn't fazed by it much, it was kind of awkward that Haemin and her were having a moment in the middle of the uni lawn in front of many students. He looked quite sleep deprived so Luna told him to take a nap at Sajinsul and he only left after she promised him that they could talk after their classes.

"So, you and Haemin seemed to have patched things up." Hyun said as he joined her on the grass.

"You saw that too?" She cringed.

"Nah I saw it in my department's chatroom."

He looked like had something to say but was holding back,

"You can ask me anything you know."

"I know." He sighed, "Im not sure if I will be able to  hear the answer."

Luna furrowed her eyebrows, "What is it?"

"The girl because of whom you went to jail is Ella, and she is Haemin's girlfriend.."

"They broke up. He just told me that."

"Oh.. so you two are just going to forget about it?"

She nodded, "Mhm, he wasnt happy in that relationship anyway, and one of the main reasons he was with her was because he promised to stay by her and help her through her trauma. But that trauma was actually her fault and she was the bad guy so he left her."

He pondered this for a second and then inhaled, preparing for the real question, "Okay, so, do you.." He wiped a hand over his face, "Do you like him?"

She smiled, "No."

He exhaled.

"I love him."

While Luna was just trying to lightheartedly admit her feelings outloud, she had no idea that her words were like pins and needles to Hyun's heart.

"But I don't think he likes me."

A few seconds later, after he got over the ultimatum she had just dropped, it was quick because deep down he always knew that he never stood a chance, he registered what she had just said, "What?" He asked incredulously, "HE doesn't like you? That's ridiculous, he cant leave you alone!"

"That's just him being a friend, he is a very kind person an-"

"Oh come on, Luna. Iv known him since middle school and I know his habit of helping others too but never have I ever seen him protecting someone like he does with you." It sounded like he was scolding her and Luna widened her eyes and backed away a little,

"He cant stay away from you. Even when you have different classes, he comes to you after them. If you're not with him at lunch, he starts looking for you, that's why he even ended up at the greenhouse that one time, looking for you. He has other friends too, but do you see him going to the extremes for Yubi? At my brother's engagement party, there were so many of our old friends there but he only had eyes for you."

She was hoping for him to say something better than that. Instead he just presented her with the fantasy side.

"That's because he pities me." She sighed, "He feels bad for me, and helping others makes him feel good, and thats not a bad thing because there's no such thing as a selfless good deed, and Iv always prayed for sympathy because I can get weak at times. But.." she put her head between her knees, "I don't want his pity anymore, I want more. I don't want his platonic affection, I want his love."

Hyun lay on the grass and closed his eyes, if he couldn't be together with Luna and be happy then at least she should be happy with whoever it may be.

"I guess.. you're just going to have to be non-pitiful."

She chuckled, "That's not a word but..you're right!" She bit her lip in concentration,

"If he still sticks to me even if I don't need him. Then that means he actually likes me right?"

Hyun sat up and smiled warmly at her excitement, "Right."

Luna grinned and fist bumped the hair, "Starting today, I, Luna Piérce, will be non-pitiful!"

Hyun laughed, "That's not a word."

Honestly folks, Im still not sure what kind of ending I should've written. And of course there will be Haemin X Luna scenes in the epilogue and perhaps even an end game for Jihoon and Joy.
