Daniels Barrett

When the sun rose, she stepped out of the forest and traveled to where she had seen people gathered in groups. On her walked down the dirt path, 2 men riding horses rode by her, before turning to return to her.

"Oh, what a beautiful woman. What are you doing walking all alone?"

She looked at him and assessed if this man could become one of her soldiers. Pretty brown eyes and a grin on an arrogant face. Maybe.

"I wish to go to the city," she offered a bow.

"Walking would take you half the day miss. The central city is long. If you wish, you may use my mare."

This man had red hair and a serious look. He looked mature, older than the other one, and she liked him. Willing to part with his horse for a stranger, she definitely thought he'd be a great chosen.

"You are kind. May I know your name?" She asked and the red haired man got off his horse and walked toward her.

"Eh? You don't know who he is?" The younger man looked at her incredulously, "He is the leader of Wolftown, Sir Daniels Barrett and I am his trusty partner, Matthew Barrett."

"Ah, brothers," She hummed to herself and Daniels held her hand to help her on the horse.

"Are you both heading to the city as well?"

"Nah," Matthew shook his head, "We are headed to the market to get some stuff we ordered."

"I see," she paused for a moment and looked up at the sun. Her dear brother is shaking his head at her, "May I join you?"

She looked at Sir Daniels Barrett. A leader of a city meant he would have qualities of leadership. She would like to learn more about him and if all works outs, she would mark him as a chosen. His brown eyes seemed to narrow slightly as if she was being assessed.

"Where do you live, miss?"

"In the forest," she replied, smiling behind her mask, "I have not seen the world for a long time."

"The forest?" Matthew tilted his head confused and looked over at his brother.

Daniels nodded. He will keep a close eye on this female. Something about her was suspicious and mysterious. A beautiful female with most of her body covered in white, came from the forest? There was no dirt on her clothing or leaf on her hair. She was perfectly presentable and held herself as a noble.

'Is it possible she is a wife of one of the other leaders?' He wondered.

When he held her hand, they were soft, smooth, almost unbelievably so. Making the decision, he got onto the same horse she was on and threw his leg over. Arms around her to grab the reins, he continued down the path with his brother beside him. He saw her eyes looked at him and there was a sparkling in them like the stars at night.

"Sir Daniels Barrett," her voice was soft yet clear, "Can you tell me your story on our way? What made you decide to be a leader?"

"I can!" Matthew grinned and was blabbering away.

"Our father was a warrior for the leader at the time, but there were a lot of things the guy did that was bad. Daniels always talked to father about it and father said, 'If you think you can do better, then become the leader!' He was tired of Daniels always bugging him."

Matthew laughed and Daniels sighed. His brother always made him sound petulant, but maybe he was.

"Your father must be proud then," she smiled and he shook his head.

"I would not know. He died before I became leader."

They fell silent and Daniels was fine with that. He preferred the quietness so he was able to think clearly, but when fingers touched his face, he couldn't help looking into the purple eyes of the female. They smoothed all the way down his neck and paused over his heart.

"He would be proud of you, Sir Daniels. You are handsome, strong, a leader your people trust."

"And how are you sure in this?"

Those purple eyes crinkled and he heard the soft giggle before the female turned to look before them. She was strange, but Sir Daniels had never met anyone like her before. His brother strolled his horse closer and he looked over. From Matthew's smirk and lifted brow, he knew what his brother was thinking.

Honestly, he was starting to think the same.

When they arrived at the market, Daniels helped the female down, but the female's leg got caught and fell against him. He held her tight, reaching down to help untangle her limb. Putting her down lightly, he could not help deciphering her smell.

Cool like winter but clear like the mountains.

"I thank you Sir Daniels," she whispered in his ear, and he realized he was still holding her. Pulling away, he looked around, pretending he was not sniffing her.

He greeted the people, who were bowing in acknowledgement. As his brother Matthew and he were retrieving what they ordered from the weapons shop, he turned to look for the female. She was looking at the clothing and running her fingers through a few outfits.

"So, brother," Matthew cleared his throat with a grin, "I have never seen you stare at a girl so much and so long. You are going to make all your lovers jealous."

"I have no lovers," Daniels frowned, "Are you not suspicious of her? I have never seen one as her."

"I mean… If you don't ask for her hand now, then they will~" His brother grinned and Daniels looked over to see a couple men speaking to the female.

He quickly left his laughing brother and went to listen to the conversation.

"Miss, if you'd like, I will purchase this outfit for you. You would look beautiful in it," one man offered.

"I will buy you 3!" The other man stated.

The Moon Goddess sighed. It was nice and generous of these men to offer to pay, but she really was only looking. The fabric was nice and soft against her skin. The details were intricate, and patterns were beautifully symmetric. It would be nice to be able to wear some clothing of this time.

Turning to the men, she smiled behind the cloth covering her nose and lips. She was about to agree and thank them for buying, but Sir Daniels Barrett walked over, purchased the clothing she was interested with barely a breath.

Handing her the items, she blinked up at him with big purple eyes.

"Oh, apologies, Sir Barrett. We did not know she was with you. Many apologies."

The men bowed and quickly left.

"I thank you," the Moon Goddess giggled, "I wonder if they will fit me. It's been so long since I receive new clothes."

Everything about her was strange. However, Daniels did not feel any trouble with her. She was no threat.

"Where will you go now?" He questioned curious and the female looked at him.

"If you don't mind, I'd like to join you for a while. Is that alright?"

"I don't know who you are miss. It may not be smart joining me either way. Harm may come to you," Daniels explained as he glanced over to see his little brother flirting with the market girls.

"Harm? You would protect me, wouldn't you?"

He had nothing to say to that.

So, he accepted her company and they were riding back to his city not too far away from the market. Her raven hair tickled him, bringing the lovely scent of hers again. He tightened his hands on the reins and gritted his teeth.

'Hyah!" He called out snapping the reins for his mule to pick up speed.

"Oh," the female sounded as they were bouncing more. She was sitting with her legs off one side of the horse, but Daniels body was there to stop her from falling backward. The air rushing through her face made her smile. She closed her eyes and placed a hand to hold on more steadily.

When the horse slowed to walking once again, she opened her eyes to see they were on the outskirts of a town. People were walking around the concrete paths and were smiling and waving at them. She waved and squeezed her other hand on what she was holding. She heard the cough from Sir Daniels and turned to see red cheeks and averted eyes.

Looking at where her hand was, she found her own cheeks flushing. Here she thought she was holding onto the horse but… her hand was on his thigh. Quickly removing her hold, she turned away and offered waves to people watching them. What made her idea of turning Sir Daniels into a werewolf solidify was the statues of her.

That made her heart so happy.

"Sir Daniels Barrett," she glanced to see him staring at her, "You still believe in the Moon Goddess?"

She saw him turn away and his face was back to the serious one she first saw him with. They arrived at a home that looked like the others, but this one had a sign that said 'Sir Daniels Barrett. Leader of Wolftown'.

'Wolftown. Does that mean they love wolves?' She wondered and was helped down. She followed Daniels in as Matthew left to speak with his friends. When the Moon Goddess walked into the home, she felt her heart clenched so hard, she felt she was going to die. The floor, the walls, the coat, and even the head of her precious animals decorated the room.

She couldn't move.

This was… This was not right! Sir Daniels had ALL the potential! He had ALL the qualities to become one of hers, but… this was despicable. She felt sick and she was swaying where she stood. Hands cupped her face and helped her to sit down, but she shook her head.

"Outside, please," She whispered and he nodded.

Oh No... This doesn't sound good... >.>
