9 9. Resolution

"Grandfather, how was work?"

"En, it was good. How was school? Did you have fun?"

"Grandfather, why would I have fun? I am going there to study, so shouldn't I be studying with my blood, sweat and tears?"

"Ahh? Xiao Qian, you should have fun too, you are still a kid, you won't have the chance to play later in life. Look at grandpa I wake up in the morning, go to work, work all day long, then come back late at night and do the same the next day. I don't even have time to rest, so you should have fun when you have the chance."

That was when RuQian realized how much her grandfather must be missing her grandmother because before her death whether in the company or at home they were always together. It must be hard to deal with that kind of separation, of course RuQian never knew that kind of love, what she had with Chang Min was not the true love that she saw in her grandfather's eyes for her grandmother.

"Then, grandfather you should come back home early and work from home. I will keep you company. Then you can at least have some food and rest in between."

Her grandfather stared at her wide eyed, "Did you just say you would keep me company? Does that mean you will stay here from now on?"

"Hmm, that is what I am planning to do. You've asked me to move in here a lot of times but I never listened to you, I hope you won't mind if I stay here. Is that okay with you grandfather?"

"Of course, this is your home, sweet child. You can stay here whenever you want. In fact I would prefer if you could stay here forever."

RuQian gave him a sweet smile as she heard her grandfather. 'I've missed this so much' was the first thought she had. Someone who welcomed her with open arms, a loving smile and a generous heart.

"We should sit down for dinner now grandfather. You must be hungry working all day."

"Haha.. I'll just wash up and come back."

"En"

As RuQian saw her grandfather's retreating back she thanked to all the gods she could think of for giving her a second chance at life, to be able to see her loved ones again and to correct her mistakes. The mistakes she made!

The next day, RuQian woke up early and started getting ready to go for school. Normally when she was younger she had a very unruly time table where she woke up late, had to rush for school and slept late but as she grew up her sleeping pattern changed completely. So now even if she was in her younger body she still followed the same routine.

For her nothing changed, she felt as if she had just woken up from a deep sleep. That was how her rebirth felt to her. It was weird after waking up today, she checked if it was all just a nightmare but no, she remembered it all too clearly for that past to not be real. The pain she felt while being burned alive felt too real to just be a dream.

She told herself, this life that she received, she would treasure it well and not waste it on anyone.

This was her new resolution!
